Did anyone expect GTA Online to be like this?

When I first heard of the idea of having your own person in Online, I thought Online would kind of be like an RPG. You would be able to interact with the world like in Singleplayer only in Online. Your choices would dictate where your player stands in the world along with everyone else. No one would be in the same position and characters like Lester and Martin would send you off to assassinate or clash with other players to affect stocks, crews and opportunities.

In other words, by what you would do in GTA Online would affect other players like a ripple affect.

Who's to say these things aren't in the pipe? Its early yet in the game and the potential is endless. Ive heard heists are in the next update, so give it some time and see what happens. Who knows, we may actually get a stock market by Christmas....

Personally I'm using this time build up my bankroll and complete some of the awards. In anticipation of things to come. It can get boring from time to time, but there are lots of other games I play so I'm ok with the wait. Patience is a virtue, especially in gaming. You on Xbox?

I was actually looking forward to this myself, even though I still enjoy GTA Online. A downfall of everyone's actions affecting each other is possibly the mods and hackers.

I like GTAO as it is. Yes, it could do with improvements in certain areas but it's still alot of fun.

A couple of things in GTAO aren't the way that I expected them to be but that was my imagination running away with me before GTAO was released, rather than R* promising something and not delivering it.

I find the lack of a narrative in Gtao a bit boring at times. I've been a Gta fan from the start and the characters and humor has always been my favorite part. In San Andreas alone characters like Macca and Kent Paul, OG Loc. Officer Ten Penny, The Truth. ect. They all added such depth to the game it was brilliant. Gta online would benefit immensely from an injection of humor because for me, at the moment its all a bit sterile.

how do you expect R* to transform all the same story mode benefits, such as specific characters, and the actions=consequence formula, into such a variable unconsistent free mode full of people who do what they want, not what R* would have preplanned. We cant have it all, at least not right now. lets keep wishlists/suggestions a bit more realistic. just look at how R* failed with the launch and keep that in mind when posting.

When you start online for the first time it ties in with story mode having Lamar pick you up from the airport and set you up with a gun and a street race.

You could have the story mode characters as phone contacts, you set up a meet with one of them and at the meeting cut scene they outline a new event and voila your into a mission with say, Trevor and Ron as npc's. Not that unrealistic. After the mission you spawn back in an online lobby.

all of that is exactly what happens apart from Ron and Trevor dont actually do missions with you, you tend to do missions with other real time players...which is kinda the point of playing online.

thats like playing cod online and asking for your team mates to be computer controlled. pointless post.

mature...

and no, its pointless because what is being asked for is already in the game (in the main). This is a forum for opinions, if you don't like people having different opinions then don't read it.

You should really chill cause the title clearly says "Did anyone expect GTA Online to be like this?".

Im not making any suggestions and this isn't a wishlist either. If you're gonna be a dick, get off the forum and play the game.

It is not, because it would have allowed to wrap online missions and objectives in their own storylines, NPC could also help players during gunfights just as they do in the campaign.

Since GTA Online events takes place a few months before the main game, GTAO could also have shed some light on certain events.

Many GTA O missions feel really dull, a supporting story and characters could have added a lot.

Agree with your last part, but how many different stories would there be? probably just one or three at most. Then folk would complain about how they dont like their characters story and want to personalise that as well as the interior of their apartments, and everything else.

I just think that the most is pretty good as it is, there will be more DLC's to come and who knows what that will hold. But seriously, think about the bigger picture before asking for all this extra stuff.

I love GTAO but I expected more money to be flying around. I expected something like...

Crew A robs a store, steals maybe 10k, draws 3 stars

Crew B attacks Crew A attempting to steal the cash before Crew A can ditch the cops and get to an ATM.

Meanwhile, other random people and crews are causing havoc, robbing other stores, some are jumping in trying to steal the cash too.

In actuality, stores generally payout under 2k and you don't even drop more than a couple hundred. Even if you did, you can deposit right on your phone. Who actually uses the ATM??

fair point, i dont see the point in the warning message saying you have more than 5k which can be stolen. yet to drop any amount of cash that is noticed. and my gtao guy isnt even rich.
