Why Isn't Passive Mode Invincible?

Is it really that hard to alter passive mode player health to infinite?

It shouldn't matter if you are using a vehicle or if you get run over...passive should mean passive.

Killzone3265

so you'd like to be sat on by cars for infinite amounts of time?

Sure, why not? I could just find a new session...

It beats adding to my death count for no reason...

That can't even happen anyway. If you're character can't get up, they'll just automatically slide out from under the object preventing them from getting up.

GTA-Freak-Vi

So you basically want God-mode for $0? Maybe if they make it to like $5000 whereby you won't be run over nor shot by other players then that'll be pretty neat and make it useful

I would like cars to go through me in passive mode.

Not really God mode, because you can't shoot. What kind of God doesn't have the power to smite people?

This hasn't been implemented because what happens when a car comes and sits on top of you? Do you magically spawn out from underneath the car like in IV, that's a little old fashioned in rockstars eyes.

Yeah, you do.

This was implemented quite a while back.

Even Rockstar admits that passive mode is "wildly unrealistic", so why not?

Passive mode is just that...passive. What is so wrong about wanting to enjoy free roam with strangers without worrying about getting killed?

It's fair because you can't kill them either.

Because its 'passive' mode, not 'god' mode.

It wouldn't really be god mode if you couldn't die because you can't kill others either.

It takes 5 seconds, once you've reached your griefing position, to exit Passive and kill someone. 99% of the time its used as a combat advantage.

I still kill everyone in my Lobby who goes Passive, although I'm not enjoying it as much :die:

Because half-wits will argue that it's free-roam therefore you're free to do as you please i.e. kill randoms who don't want to be in a forced deathmatch. They then ignore the fact that some people want to be left alone whilst they do as they please.

You're paranoid dude. I leave everybody alone who is in passive mode and very rarely do they go out of passive and kill me. Oh, and you're a piece of sh*t for killing everybody who is in passive mode. Maybe that's why they kill you.

If they want to be left alone they would have selected a Lobby where they could be alone. They chose to join the rest of us half - wits!

That would actually be fun, like, blowing each other away with explosions, could lead to some hilarious ragdoll flying and stuff. I'm totally up for that lol.

Or jumping off and tumbling down Mt. Chilliad at speeds exceeding that of a car, smashing into everything you meet on the way, and still be able to keep going, sign me up!

That would make passive mode hilarious, and an actual addition imo.

Why shouldn't we be able to play with others WITHOUT being killed or killing others?

There's nothing wrong with wanting a true passive mode.

Absolutely not, as long as you come in and out in your apartment or Garage

I agree there are other options, but I usually play in free roam, sometimes participating in fights, sometimes doing all kinds of other stuff. I don't want to have to go back to single player and start an invite only session every time I want to change clothes or do something other than killing people.

I admitted I wasn't enjoying it as much.... Oh, and you just made the list :miranda:

What list?

Because its 'passive' mode, not 'god' mode.

Passive, by definition, is to accept or allow what happens without active response or resistance. Submissive, unassertive, compliant.

But, that's not what Rockstar calls Passive Mode and that's not it's purpose. Passive mode prevents people from shooting you, giving it a tiny bit of 'god mode' and making it counter-productive to passivity. The keywords here are "tiny bit." People can't shoot you, as long as you're on foot. They can still run you over, blow you up, etc. You can get into a car, but that disables passive mode.

Passive mode is very self-defeating and, if anything, only makes you even more vulnerable. It's completely useless.

Why shouldn't we be able to play with others WITHOUT being killed or killing others?

Because some people think we're playing Call of Duty.

Why does it bother you that players don't want to kill or be killed?

How does that negatively affect you?

It doesn't prevent you from killing players who aren't in passive mode...
