Grand Theft Auto V: PC Discussion

I've finally decided to register and clear up some misconceptions and whatnot about the PC port.

Please don't bother replying, as this will be my only post. You can still quote it, but I won't reply because I'm gonna get in a lot of trouble just for this one post.

-The PC version has been in development since 2010 after being ported from the first alpha build for the Xbox 360 (hence why I'm referring to it as a port), even though the buildlog only registers PC-related issues from 2012 and later: https://googledrive.com/host/0B-JdId1SslCJNEIweDFobGl2MzA/builds.xml

-It is taking so long because the code is held with duct tape. They want to polish it up and make sure no bugs are left. This was ages ago, however.

-They've teamed up with AMD for this port, as you've all seen from the Catalyst beta driver leak. They are adding a lot of sweet things such as parallax occlusion mapping, ambient occlusion, HD textures, lots of normal maps, exclusive online content for the PC, and much more.

-It will be available on Steam two weeks after launch. It has been discussed a possible Origin version will be available as well. However, sites who are taking pre-orders for Steam keys are lying.

-A R.A.G.E. Modding SDK is in the works. This means official mod support with proper tools.

-The game will have anti-piracy support, although folks will get around this in no time.

-The Steam version is uploaded to Valve's database and gets frequent updates for the closed beta. It is currently listed as a ValveTestApp, but I cannot tell which AppID it is.

-Online support for 32 players is confirmed, as shown by recent leaks.

-The game launcher has two options:

Current Gen mode:

  • Uses DX11, tons of custom options as mentioned above.
  • Automatically runs a benchmark at first startup and changes the game's settings accordingly.
  • Mantle support is in the works. It does not have an ETA yet but it is planned to be released around August

Last Gen mode:

  • Uses DX9/DX10, less custom options.
  • Automatically runs a benchmark at first startup and changes the game's settings accordingly.
  • Mantle support is in the works. It does not have an ETA yet but it is planned to be released around August

-Retailer version comes with a special code for a random in-game weapon or vehicle. It has two install discs. Cover art is different from the console version.

-The game was supposed to release back in January. I don't know why it has been delayed.

Again, Don't ask me questions. I won't post anymore. Here's three questions people will definitely ask me:

-Do you work for Rockstar?

I kinda used to.

-Can I trust you?

That's up to you.

-Why are you posting here?

Why not?

I think It's bullsh*t, R* allways recommended Nvidia and now they are teaming up with AMD ? What's even worse game will support mantle? Sorry, trool you better go back where u came from, you just educated yourself by every rumor u found on internet and u mixed everything in one piece to act like ur R* employee, It dosen't need to mean that they are teamed with AMD if .exe file was found in their drivers, I remember that some console game was also mentioned in amd drivers and it was never released for PC.

EDIT: cover art is different from console version , well now I'm sure this is complete lie, why would they do that aniway?

The damn problem of many users here is that every new rumour or "leak", they always say: "LIE, FAKE, IMPOSSIBLE, TROLL"...

So tell me, why are you here then?
say that its a fake is easy, now, to show a solid proof that its really a fake, you guys have a hard time trying!

It's like you can feel the pressure in here :D
I hope that sale on Steam means something (I have bought Max Payne Complete Edition, damn, 9 euros for three games - heck of a deal).

I'm wondering, what that exclusive online PC content TH3TRUTH15OUTTH3R3 told about might be, hmm...

Guys, GTA V will release on June 17th on the PC/PS4/XBone for $49,99 and feature all the DLC we have seen on consoles, as well as online heists which will release on all platforms that day. The single player DLC will come a few weeks later for all platforms at $9,99. Announcement is coming soon.

No, but seriously use some common sense when you read these.

All I'm going to say is:

Mod support sounds very, very unlikely. Rockstar uses a lot of middleware in their games (namely Bullet, Euphoria, and in the past they used Miles for the sound, not sure what they use now. FMOD possibly, or something of their own I'd assume). This means that they'd have to pay some very heavy licencing fees to allow the average Joe to fiddle with what they licenced specifically for themselves.

If mod support was to ever be included, I bet it would be very basic. Imagine something like Skyrim without the creation kit, you'd be able to add and create your own mods with no help or SDK, but the only thing the game can help with is letting you enable/disable them without uninstalling them.

Bullet is open source, Euphoria data does not need to be exposed to the user and audio is in-house just like everything else including data formats.

Inactive in GTA/R* title modification indefinitely pursuant to a court order obtained by TTWO. Good job acting against modding!

If you're still here, what about Nvidia ? and what do you mean by "lots of normal maps" ?

I trust to TH3TRUTH15OUTTH3R3

Seriously ?

I'm thinking same. Heists will come to all platforms with launch of PC / PS4 / Xone. With this tactic, R* will make popular PS3 & Xbox 360 too..

But I don't wait more than May release. March announce, May release would be great.

About story DLC pack.. That will come end of 2014, I think..

Ok guys. That guy that claims that GTA V will have mod support, is full of sh*t.

Rockstar Games would never do that.

Also, the game was not supposed to be released in January. I mean, who the f*ck releases a game of V's magnitude in January?

There are other things in his posts that are bs as well. But I won't get into detail on everything

This guy is suspicious for sure!

But before creating fights like "is fake" vs "is real..."

Think... At the same time we can't prove it's real, we can't prove it's fake.

Yeah this is hard to believe. But teaming up with AMD would mean that they could easily use low minimum requirements. Considering AMD also gave Sony/Microsoft their processors for the next gen consoles, Rockstar would have to team up with them anyway, for porting purposes.

A lot of things TH3TRUTH15OUTTH3R3 said make no sense at all. So i'm choosing not to believe.

Launcher with Last gen and Next gen mode? WTF. That really makes no sense. That was enough for me.
