Singlepayer/Story mode isn't fun

Who else feels this way? After completing everything, what do most of us like to do in single player? Fight the cops.

Let me give you two examples of how overpowered and absolutely ridiculously no fun the police are in this game.

Example number one: I was playing as Michael and he spawned near some building in the hills arguing with a Park Ranger. I stab him in the back when he wasn't looking and he promptly turned around and started whooping my ass. Eventually I killed him and as soon as he died I got a three star wanted level even though no one was looking and sure enough a police helicopter spawns literally less than 50 feet away from me and begins pummeling me with bullets. No more than 15 seconds later 3 squad car show up and I'm dead. I wanted to have fun and try to only use a pistol but that's just impossible.

Example number 2: I'm playing is Franklin and decide I want to carry out a little terrorist attack on the police station downtown. So I dress up in my stealth suit with the black ski mask and carry on towards the police station with this sticky bomb ladden car. I park the car near all the other parked police vehicles and detonate the bomb. I then run up into the building slaughtering all the officers with the AK rifle. I run out into the street and I'm killed almost instantly by yet again another helicopter that just happened to spawn in the intersection right next to the police station.

My point here is that the police in this game our way overpowered it's ridiculous. Yes it is realistic but that takes away all the fun. GTA 4 had a perfect balance between tough police yet a good long gun battle that was fun. They really need to nerf (I know that word is frowned upon) the police in this game and definitely need to fix thr helicopter spawning as that seems to be the worst of it.

Lol I know. I've tried putting heavy armor on all 3 protags, but when it comes to a police shootout, the armor does no good, and I still get shot to hell and back after like 2-3 bullets and i'm dead. Then I just turn the system off and don't get anything done. The game just feels boring with the overpowered police in this game. THE AI is great and all, but the least they can do is tone the cops down a little and it'll become a little more fun to me.

The Peds (NPCs) in Los Santos actually call the cops on you unlike before.

It's not so much the fact they call the police, it's the fact once you kill someone calling the police, a million other people will go for it too.

Plus, all he said is that the police need to be toned down, which they really do. When I go for rampages I want somewhat smart cops chasing me, but not navy seals in police uniforms.

You dont really need to kill someone calling the cops, if you were smart enough you would already of had figured out all you need to do is point a gun at them, they will stop the call and run away.

Yeah, because stealth killing an officer when no one is looking and a chopper and 6 cops spawning next to you is soo cool

Actually, I stabbed this deputy out in vinewood hills when nobody was looking, didnt get a three star wanted but when a car went past by that I got an instant wanted level. It really makes you think, it shows that you're actually not as alone as you actually think.

for me gta has always been a single player game not interested in online for gta,I love what they did with v but imagine if there was no online how much more stuff, prob. would of had most of the online features in story mode from realease and not glitchy dlc every few months.

I agree. After a short while completing the story missions, the game becomes boring.

Sometimes when I`m super stoned I imagine that Trevor is Lance Applebaum a renegade cop with an itchy trigger finger and an intense hatred for she males. His ex-wife Hannah Applebaum turned out to be a she-male who`s name was actually Harry Mangina. So he pulls over any and all sexual deviants in his hope to find and kill Harry once and for all but not before he has his way with him/her one last time.

Well it's like I told you before: Been there done that so many times, it just gets boring after a while. I used to roleplay with GTA IV and it was a hell of a lot of fun, I would always pretend Liberty City was going to get a hurricane, and I would phone up Roman to go bowling, but instead we took a Helicopter out of the city to get to safety. Too bad you can't go far out of the map, if you do, your engine shuts off, and will either sank into the water, or your aircraft will fall into the water and disassemble as it's falling and then sank. I really wish we had infinite water because it would be so fun to go out to sea for days and pretend that i'm on Castaway or LOST or something.

If the cops at 1-2 stars weren't so 5 star feel, it wouldn't be a problem. Takes away getting to 5 stars because straight away you feel like once the cops are onto you it's 5 star try escape. I tend to role play my own lifestyle in GTA but it's why I'm pushy for more interiors, casino and activities over assassin and flight school DLC. I got 2.1billion and feel I get all dressed up and my Z-Type that's decked out with no place to go? I would liked to go into tequila nightclub, drink and listen to a band play even if it was just the rock and chem x channel but a couple peds in a band making out they doing covers, it's still someplace to go.. Unlike other interiors we kill them owners which why they get shutdown but tequila club we only knockout De Paoli's tooth... But, it's hard even being or trying to be normal living in gta with the sh*t drivers and cop spawn chases. This cop car actually hit my car while they chasing other car with helicopters and all sh*t shooting and as I tried moving off the road do the cops car hits mine and next minute the helicopter and cops perfect aim and smoke my ass. f*cking pissed me off because in my world I was role-playing a scene out and trying to do the real life low profile thing by moving so my cars not f*cked and yeah I'm whacked for that? After seeing how bad the cops shooting from a helicopter and on foot it goes f*cking CLICK turn on our special and off-dis fools for moving out the way...

Edit: point being is cops low star level is too high of IQ and accurate aim that by the time I'm at 5 stars it don't even feel like it or notice the difference. With that! When you see the cops doing a spawn scene and get killed and can't shoot for sh*t via the cars and helicopter it's piss poor to have it turn around and be able to be perfect and spawn more cars on you. Don't see why they did that or did that if you kill anyone by sniper or silenced weapon that cops get alerted. Sniper rifles = no point outside missions in sp. f*ck the silencers off too don't waste cash everyone hears or see's which a lot tweaks like that I don't get with the game? Silencers and snipers or kill people in places no ones around? Bike rider on mt gordo, only you and him, you melee or silencer kill them and if you don't move or sometimes do move cops levels come... Just dunno logic in silencers or snipers if they still bringing heat on you from supposedly meant to be a SILENCED KILL...

This is why I nearly have the god mode cheat on for most of my free roam sessions / rampages. A couple shots and your gone. What I hate is getting wanted when you kill somebody when NOBODY is around like in your first example. He is the only cop and you kill him and just auto get wanted even though he never touched his radio or signaled to anybody. Just like killing some lone hiker in the middle of nowhere...makes no sense unless our guy has a satellite tracking his every move from space there is really no explanation.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with doing that, but not everyone buys a game simply for the multiplayer. The reason some of us play video games, especially a franchise like GTA which was single player right up until San Andreas, was to escape from reality. Yes I do have a reasonably healthy social life, but if I just want to step into the shoes of somebody else and rampage on my own with almost zero repercussions I should be able to. Instead I have to put up with a pain in the ass, almost Rambo grade, enemy IA and health that runs out faster than a Mexican over the border.

Well the success of finding fun in role playing in GTA all depends on what features and gameplay content is available to the player. I did a lot of role playing in GTA IV+EFLC and I had huge amounts of fun, and the whole thing was very interesting - this was because IV+EFLC had the right kind of features and content that allowed me this experience. In my view GTA V did not offer me enough of the right features and content for a great role playing experience, no matter how much I tried to be creative. If the conditions are not fully up to scratch, then role playing aint gonna be much fun for me.

In V, roleplay worked for me for a short while on a very small amount of things, but after it got boring because it was there was not enough stuff in the game to support a great roleplay experience.

Just my view on it.

Kids these days only play GTA for the Online. Most GTA Online videos on youtube always have laughing, screaming, "holy sh*t",... make my ears bleed. They don't even know other GTA games.

f*cking Sad. f*ck GTA ONLINE. It ruined GTA.

Why bother letting them live. Anybody that threatens to call the cops on me dies.

It hasn't ruined it yet because the single player is still great but if we don't sh*t all over gtao and and ignore it for being a waste of a game mode which resources could of been spent adding better things to SP then it will ruin gta. I know they would love nothing more than to have just a 100% online gta game loaded with shark cards but we can't let that happen.

I will admit the cops do take a little bit of fun out of the game, but there are so many other fun things to do.

The cops don't bother me too much, I can easily escape 1 or 2 stars and usually choose to because 3+ can be a pain if you can't get to any of the getaway spots. They aren't terrible though. I do miss the never wanted cheat. I used it quite a bit in SA when I didn't feel like running from cops.

I totally agree, that's what I love about GTA the freedom to roam and do what the f*ck you want without everything being scripted like most games.

Whenever I read these threads I always wish I could watch the OP play for 5 minutes. I'd bet a lot of money you are bad at the game, and are just venting here. It's very possible to kill a shed load of cops and escape.

The videos are all over YouTube and this forum so don't tell me it's not possible.

Depends on who you roleplay with and how you roleplay them.

For example: I roleplay with Michael, and I roleplay him as a rich old dude (Obviously lol).

He's great to roleplay with.

If you try to roleplay with Franklin being a gang member or something like that, I can see how'd you have trouble outside of starting "gang wars" at Grove Street and elsewhere.
