GTA V might not come to PC because of GTA O

Recommended Posts

GTA Master 007

The reason I'm saying this is modding. Let's face it, people on console (including me) get excited for a dlc that has 3 cars in it, its R* strong point when it comes to making money because they got total control over MOST of their customers, R* knows on PC they would make no money in online with cash cards because its much much more easy to hack/mod, people won't bother with stupid add-ons because they would mod the sh*t out of the game. Sadly I do see a ps4 and xone version being released, don't get me wrong i also want gta v for pc, because its just a better platform but I really don't see it coming, its just my opinion though and yes my opinion is worth another thread.

GTA IV was modded/hacked to pieces, even that still made it to PC format.

GTA IV had no objective, simply a game where you could go online with friends mess around and not have to worry.

GTA V you have to worry about the counterfeit money, PV's, missions and everything revolves around money, which could be easily modded in.

It's super easy to mod games on PC just a couple of files and it's done

I agree gta:o is whats holding back r*, gta5 + gta:o is going take a heck of a time bringing to pc. Even if they were to bring it in sooner rather than later, imagine the bugs, they have hard enough time with just the two platforms.

If their suits say they can make decent money, they`ll release on PC. If they say it`s not worth it, they won`t. Long are gone the days of making games for the gamers and for innovation - now it`s all about the money.

So, they don`t give a sh*t if the game will be hacked or not, if they meet their target.

Games like World of Warcraft have NO mods/cheats etc, Im not really sure why/how GTA can't be the same....

MMO`s have usually one centralized database that cannot be modified. ALL MMO`s have a dedicated server. So, unless you hack said server, you can`t mod sh*t. The problem with this game is that it`s the same old crap, minus save location, which is proven by now that is as useful as cancer.

Yeah they won't sell any cash cards but they'll make a sh*t load of money on the game itself

They will. There is always an idiot that will buy one or more. Just look at the morons that bought premium for BF4, on no less than 5 platforms. If I`d buy it now (will never do it, but let`s say I would), premium would cost more than the actual game, as I got it for a -33% sale :) .

I got premium for $10, cause there's noway in hell I'm giving EA $110.

That's because games like those are server sided and check everything with the server. If its legit, then it sends the info to you.

Everything happens on the server.

The horse has been killed so stop beating it.

Yeah, I see your BF3 stats. I stopped at BF:BC2 and going back to Counter Strike as shooters go... console shooting is utterly retarded and it might have been a mistake in buying BF4 for PS3 (long story short I didn`t even plan on buying it, but I have a very persuasive friend :) ).

I would have gotten it on PC, but after the court fees I had to pay (Bitch texting on phone ran into me, passenger faked injuries, stuff), I didn't have enough to fully rebuild my PC that could run BF 2142 on ultra with no hiccups; so I just got it on console.

Still not getting BF4, f*cking casuals.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidthier/2013/02/27/ea-plan-on-putting-microtransactions-in-all-of-its-games/ <--- food for thought. Imagine having to pay 1.99$ for heavy barrel or holo sight. Or 2.99$ for battlepacks. EA is becoming a very risky investment, even with the flashy Battlefront respin and the new and improved BF4 that locks up even today, at patch 1.09.

I was more not sure why GTA can't be like that, rather then not sure on the difference.. cheers for pointing it out for others that may have thought I was talking sh*t!

Im not game/server dev or expert... but If i were R* I'd have "game play" servers as they are, but have all transactions go through dedicated servers... There's no need for every move to be checked for legit, but Transactions and "changes" would be a great start??

I love GTAOF.....

op is an idiot... and the people talking about any BF like it's any better than COD or the new GTAO are too.

if the console version of GTA is this broken, what do you expect from a hopeful pc release? rhetorical question I could care less about your opinion.

It would depend on the server and how it is configured. It will also depend on the client.

For instance, most PC shooters, which have dedicated servers, can be "hacked", by using aimbots, wallhacks, speed cheats and so on. An MMO has usually a client that asks for input from the server at all times, or received almost exclusively information from the server. This game would have been better served with an MMO client like architecture, but it would have required actual dedicated servers from Rockstar.. and they are too cheap to do it. So, our client is both the client and the server, which opened a whole can`o`worms.

COD 4 and BFBC2 were both good games.

Its just that because R* opted to use a Cloud based saving system, its going to be easy to exploit because of the inherent latency of the Cloud itself.

Every major exploit in this game is all based around delaying data updating to the cloud and replacing it.

Also, a lot of this is client based, compounding the problem. Things like the SP-MP most likely can never be fully patched due to this.

Which is something that should have been considered when they came up with the idea. It baffles me that they would want to host all the necessary files client-side for a game like this, especially when they know that their last two attempts at online multiplayer became completely overran with modders. If you're going to build a "persistent world" type game, why would you not even try and follow the common design model? Even hosting just a couple of key files server-side would probably provide at least a little more protection.

Plus, there's also the fact that Blizzard and other devs actually give a crap and ban cheaters for good, not put them in time out for a little while and then feature them in events.
