tranceking26
Well, one that has next to no fan noise, when streaming fullscreen video, etc etc Anybody know of good cheap laptops that can be quiet, and also have at least 3GB RAM? I'm in the UK. Lastly, the option to install an SSD would be a good plus.
kipakolonyasi
i'm using this lenovo g580 for two months now and it's still super quiet. like no fan noise. and cool to the touch too. but i don't know how much this is going to last.
Otter
Have you looked into tablets? Cheaper, dead silent, great video viewing in a small space. I personally love my ipad, but some of the newer ASUS tablets are pretty sexy and have nice large screens. Lots of options, especially if watching video is your primary concern. That laptop looks quite nice, is it still quiet when fullscreening HD video and streaming things? Have you looked into tablets? Cheaper, dead silent, great video viewing in a small space. That's a good suggestion, something I may consider if I can find a decent keyboard hinge thingy with one. Compatibility would be my one concern though (for example I would want my office 2003 from disc installed)
kipakolonyasi
yes. i watch streams at twitch all the time, most of the time at highest quality. i watch 8 hour streams (gta speedruns ), still quiet. but i didn't try playing games or rendering videos which it can't handle anyway. Otter
If Office is important to you, a windows tablet will work out fine. And most of them will work with any bluetooth keyboard... so you can either get one of those clip on ones, or a standard fullsize one.

That sounds really promising. I watch streams on my current laptop and the fan noise is too much so I wear headphones. I'll have to look into this one nearer the time I can afford one. I'm guessing there will be external disc drives that can be attached via USB too. I have to wait a few months till I can afford something so I can look deeper into the latest tablets in May.
