GavinGGG
So I rented GTA5 for the first time. I have 66GB of space on my Hard Drive. After inserting the disc, it goes to the instalation screen. It steadily downloads at about 9 MB/S. At 2851 MBs it stops. It doesn't freeze ( The animations continue moving) but it will not go past 2851. I have tried everything. Turining on and off the system. Cleaning the disc (Which is completely clean except maybe 3 small scratches.) I have deleted Game Data and retried and least 5 times and it always stops at 2851 MB. I own a Regular PS3 that was bought new in 2011. It runs all other disks fine. And apparently others have been having this problem too? Is it a problem with the game? My system? What do I do? Please help. sopronowings2025 and tokyocean 2 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/691787-gta-5-wont-install-ps3/ Share on other sites
Detective Phelps
It looks like there is a problem with your system. Or you can wait and see if it gets past 2852 MB. GavinGGG
I have a disc that is meant to clean out the insides of blu ray players. Do you think if used it on my PS3 it could resolve the problem? Solution KeepCalm and CarryGun Posted March 9, 2014 Solution Share Posted March 9, 2014 There have been reported problems with the install freezing, for players who bought the PSN digital copy of GTA V. (Think Sony fixed this eventually). Your system has plenty of space for GTA's hefty 8gb+ install, and if it installs and plays other games fine, the finger of guilt seems to point at the game disc. You mention it's a rented disc, the GTA V disc takes a bit of a battering over time, mine has problems starting up regularly now (I have to pull it out, wipe it, put it back in, then hit X to start, then pray it still works, mind you, after 338 and half hours playing time, this is perhaps understandable). An imperfection on the disc would prevent install, it would also explain why the install fails at the same point, as a disc read error would happen in the same place on a damaged disc. Can you try it on a friend's PS3? If it doesn't work on a 2nd PS3 system, you need your money back from the rental shop.
