GTA Online Hide and Seek - Pretty fun!

Me and my friend were dicking about online doing some jobs and getting shot to hell by tanks so we came up with an idea. One person goes and 'hides' which in this case meant blend in to the traffic, parked cars.

The other person turns off blips, map and HUD and has to find the other person. We did this for about 4 hours and time flew by. We sectioned off certain areas of the map like Paleto Bay and the beach area and then moved around taking turns. It works best with voice chat so the other person can tell you how close you were and stuff.

What we did was a park-move-park-move kinda method. You can spend as long as you want in each bit but you have to tell the seeker whether you're moving or parked. At first, we had a rule of always staying in the car but we changed it around a bit later on. When I was hiding, he was driving around the car park next to the peer. I parked my car, got out and walked away and all within shot of him and he didn't notice.

Its great when they drive right past you multiple times while you wait at traffic lights and such. To be honest, it's harder to blend in with traffic than you may think as it isn't easy to copy the mannerisms of the AI drivers.

Invite-only sessions work best for this as there is more traffic and no chance of other players ruining the game.

If you haven't given it a shot, its worth a try! Simple game, tonnes of fun and you can make up a variety of rules and ways of playing it. :beerhat:

Anyone else do something similar?

tl;dr: seeker turns off all blips, maps, hud etc and has to try and find the other person based on some clues.

(also, turning off the map actually makes you appreciate the scale and detail of the game world for some reason. Makes it seem a load bigger :catloaf: )

Rockstar will now ban you for having fun

My PSN disconnected once and I said then that they had cut my connection for making my own fun rather than doing missions or races/spending money

This sounds fun, to bad I have no friends. I'll play hide n seek by myself.

I played that with my friend. While our friend was counting me and my other friend hopped on a train and laugged as he tried looking for us in the designated area. Good times.

Sounds pretty cool but how do you monitor cheating ? :p

that does sound hard trying to find someone without the map.

does the other person have to find a certain spot viewable from a distance? or stay dormant while the other one is looking? Any map restrictions? I would have to have some clear rules about how one can "hide" as to not make it near impossible.

cool idea. Personally, I would just use a chopper and fly low and slow, or have a buddy use the chopper cam.

I had the same idea a while back in the GTA 4 days. Here's an old crappy quality and crappy audio video I made about it.

Trust. No other way haha. Its more fun to do it properly anyway, you lose out if you cheat :p

What we did was get in a car and just drive around following traffic laws and try and blend in. Hiding in plain sight really.

Thats why we said we would let the other person know when we parked or moving. If it became too hard, we would give more clues such as car colour and whether or not it was an SUV. We didn't take the competition seriously so we made up rules as we went along.

For map restrictions, we chose areas the size of Paleto Bay and then sectioned other areas of LS off like Franklin's neighbourhood, the 3-4 block radius round Micheal's house etc. We liked to have the seeker in a police car so if they started to get suspicious, the other person could floor it and end it in a police chase and then swap sides :)

Someone should start a Non-R* Game Type thread in Meetups (if they already haven't) for this sort of thing. Would just about work in a community like this...

I got a PS3 on eBay just for this game pretty much and for 2 reasons: my best friend has it and i don't have to pay for online. Just a shame I can never join in live streams as they all seem to use the 360 version lol.

Wow...never thought the KIDS on this forum would be entertained by the idea of 'Hide and Seek'

Also very bizzzare to me to play hide and seek in a video game when you could just play with your 5 year old cousins. Just my opinion.
