-KM-
As the title says. Why? For example the MG in singleplayer has a round barrel but online it has a diamond shape and the texture is really off. Why? Most weapons are like this (Especially the barrel) Is it to save space? If it is that isn't gonna make much difference. Sorry I don't have screenshots but just have a look for yourself (Assault shotgun, Combat MG, SMG have the same low res barrel)
numpy
Most likely to save space.
hornedturtle
yes it does make a huge difference when combined with all the other reductions

MrCamo
Less polygons for less lag?
TotalFacade
The graphics settings are put to their absolute lowest online to compensate for 16 players on the map at once.
Hoobadehoy
Probably for the same reason that emblems and other player's tattoos are incredibly blurred.
Bane_Of_Legends
It's a big open world map that holds 16 players all doing things at the same time. If the graphics were the same as when one person plays alone, it'd take you half a minute to get in your car because of lag. Generally in multiplayer games, the more players there are, the more the graphics need to be toned down. MAG could have 256 players all at once on a battlefield, but the graphics were far from great. Definitely not comparable to GTA graphics. Edited March 11, 2014 by Bane_Of_Legends ten-a-penny

It's hard to say without knowing the running specs of the game.

It's hard to say without knowing the running specs of the game. The players don't load because of the rendering distance. Helps to limit the usage each person has on the server. Limiting server usage = less lag. My PS3 can handle 16 players in the same area at once, but there's a small amount of lag when thinks start going kabloomey.
