MysterBeefy
I've never lost a deathmatch for one reason, every random I meet is just godawful at this game. The majority of them use idiotic weapons, and never take cover, easy pickings. I agree that most players suck, but that doesn't help the OP. I'd rather help the sucky players get better, leading to a more challenging and fun game, than just say how much better I am than them. But, I'm sure that's an uncommon opinion... rednation58
http://gtaforums.com/topic/650996-gta-gunfighting-tips/ Learn the maps. After a match go into free mode(especially if your on foot) if you can remember the general area of the match you can find some really good spots for ambushes. Look at cross fire or back alley as prime examples. Don't drive ever. The exclusion to this rule is if it allows you too get into superior position. I.e. the hills in getaway. Or a bridge in the canyon. As you start playing higher ranks aka heavy snipers etc. Duck and cover is the best advice+ combat rolling. Move in none linear patterns too avoid snipers. Find a spot make the kill and move. Because they are going too spawn near you. And have nice big black x where they died. Figure out your style of play and play that way. Although mixing it up can really challenge many opponents. Ie start sniping at first then run and gun. Stop find cover let the hate spread then rinse and repeat. Learn where environmental explosions are. Prime example is cross fire and the gas tank. I know my team will win if I get a multi kill using that. Traveling in groups is safe unless someone likes using explosives. Explosives are fun but expensive. I ran a team death match the other day where the screen shook for the entire match. During the next load up I asked how much was there ammo bill.....only one guy said anything but it was 25000....they won 12000...the losers actually profited. So there is a time and place for them. Just not during the entire match. The mini map is your friend you can move quickly and not be detected if your stealth skill is high enough. If you see a blue ring around your dot, someone is near you and detecting you. No blue and you can move. Summation. Use cover, learn the maps, and get you shooting/ stealth score up. How do you do this survival's for shooting missions for stealth and shooting. Coveted is awesome for quick skill ranking in both of these since your doing them simultaneously. Thanks for the info - I never realized that the blue ring = detection.

Stephen
Problem is also most people who want to try, and start doing DM/TDM are too used to the free roam blip security. Seeing where everyone is 24/7, knowing their exact movements with the directional arrow changes on the blips. TDM forces you to think more, but once you get good at it, it's a breeze. You won't get good in your first 30 matches, it'll take close to 100 before you have a rhythm that works best for you. Don't be Rambo, what will make any team loose is the guy who runs into campers kill boxes, trying to get 30 kills in a 40 kill match. That same guy will most likely account for most of the team deaths as well. Nothing annoys me more when I see a guy at the end of a 40 kill match with 15 kills and 20 deaths, then I'll be the second place guy with 13 kills and anywhere between 4 and 6 deaths. You don't have to camp, just don't do what everyone else is doing, flank them out from the sides, the rear, just knock them off their rhythm. Everyone here gave good advice so I'm not going to spam what everyone else has already mentioned as well. Combat rolls, elevated positions etc etc. Choice of weaponry in certain situations. Once you get real good at TDM/DM, anything free roam related combat wise is a cake walk. But it's like anything, you race allot, you'll eventually get good at it, some quicker than others, same goes for everything else. I love TDM, because I can kill people without 50 cops chasing me for 10 minutes after 2 kills, plus you get paid whether you win or loose, RP and $. But try to win as much as you can. Con9mm
So 25 days after getting that Grim Reaper leg tattoo....I then got my Slayer Award tattoo.......a.k.a. The Burning Heart. So when I say I am a Deathmatch junkie, I can prove it! Con9mm
Learn the maps. Be quicker to aim and shoot at heads. how? Sharpen your skills at the range. Yeah it gets repetitive and boring (solo) but it helps you and you don't even realize it cause bullseye on the moving targets is as close as you are going to get to humans moving. Read some of the tips in the thread and if they don't help your particular situation just elaborate on your problem and we wil try and help. ten-a-penny
ALWAYS stay in cover. so even if you spotted, at least they won't be able to hit you. Make sure to put Silencers on your most-used weapons if available. I usually use the Assault Shotgun and the Advanced Rifle and lastly the AP Pistol so these three weapons are silent'd. ALWAYS make sure to use the right weapon. I have no idea how many times I blew myself by accident in a DM because I used the Grenade Launcher lastly and forgot to go back with my Shoty. Use the best weapon in each Category as long as it has a Silencer. well, not really. this point is optional since MGs are the best in the SMG list, and are long-ranged. your cover will be blown up anyways. use this point if your personal best weapon can have a silencer. ALWAYS use a good cover. most important thing in this list. what's the point if your back/chest is covered, but your legs/arms/head is exposed? I lost counts how many kills I earned because of enemy exposing his[their] body parts outside of cover. Use Grenades when enemy is behind a close pillar but cannot be shot. my personal favorite. in a friend's DM, the most used pillar is protected from all sides expect you still can be killed by explosives. take that advantage and blow your enemy up with grenades if possible. also, you may gain a laugh or something. the "flying from an explosion" animation is funny as F*ck Assault Shotgun = WIN!. best if a silencer is used + extended Mag. blind fire is a serious goal now Grenade Launch far enemies in explosive-kill-able cover. mainly goes with #6 because the grenades takes time till it exploded. and who knows. maybe the target will get out of cover to gun-blaze you giving a chance of blowing them up by directly shooting a grenade at them also, its faster, and the grenade will explode much faster. STAY AWAY FROM DOORS / DOOR EDGES! again. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. last repeat. STAY AWAY FROM THESE EASILY BLOW-ABLE THINGS! especially if the enemy has a Grenade Launcher because he can simply fire at you, killing you. know your surroundings. one of the most important things in DMs. specially if you got a nice cover. so you can know where the enemy can hide, if the coverage area can be used as an advantage, how many places are covered, what's the only ways to get killed there (note that some bullet-immune covers can be dangerous against grenades) what weapon to use, can you use grenade launcher or not, etc.... traps. traps everywhere- especially if you're in a tight area. why not lay some stickies here and there? : if you can't kill them without surviving, then suicide-ing with killing them is better. mostly following above point. if you're clocked somewhere, lay some stickies around and behind you, and when the enemy come in the range, blow yourself and them too. take-two. you get yourself our of danger, and had won a point. congratz. make sure to use perfect weapons in perfect times. an advanced rifle won't work at close range. an Assault Shotie won't work at Medium range. get it like this: Close Range: ~>> Assault Shotgun (PROS: blind fire destroyer) AP Pistol (PROS: can be easily aimed at the head) Medium Range: ~>> ANY SMG expect MGs + Advanced Rifle (PROS: fast-firing) --optional-- AP Pistol (PROS: Rapid Fire) Medium-to-long Range: ~>> Assault Rifles (PROS: Rapid fire) ANY kind of MGs (PROS: Rapid Fire + strong weapon) Long Range: ~>> ANY Sniper (better to be Heavy Sniper) OPEN AREA = RPGs this is mainly by another user that I saved for later usage. also this one can work in normal shootout too. since its way too large, owner made a category menu. CTRL + F if you want to reach one. also, I'll hide it under a spoiler since its way too long. credit to them: The categories: Never bring a gun to a bazooka fight How to bedazzle your gun like a pro Cover your ass Blind fire for dummies Zoom in to see the goods Shoot 'em in the head! Ninja skillz Combat roll makes you badass Hunting your prey the S-M-A-R-T way Assault shotgun = WIN Body Armor doesn't make you a badass Last mag, last mag! Remember, It's just a game. Or is it? TL/DR Never bring a gun to a bazooka fight Everyone loves the assault rifles. They're well-rounded weapons with solid damage, magazine capacity, & versatility, and superior accuracy, range, & fire rate. For most situations an assault rifle can be the only tool you need to win. But, having a decent understanding of all the weapons' advantages and disadvantages will help you as a player make better informed decisions over which weapons are better for different encounters. Pistols - Extremely accurate at all ranges and make quick work of your opponent when aiming for the head. Best used at short range. Shotguns - Devastating in tight corners, over short distances, as a defensive weapon (e.g. when pinned behind a dumpster by multiple opponents). Best used while behind cover, firing blind. SMGs - Faster fire rate than assault rifles, but less accurate. Best used for short to medium range encounters. Sniper Rifles - Unmatched when used over great distance. A lack of Auto-aim and a slow fire rate leave you vulnerable at shorter ranges. Use with caution. MGs - Slower, but stronger than assault rifles. Extremely accurate when single or burst fire is used. Best used at longer ranges against less accurate weapons. Miniguns - Rate of fire is unmatched. Anyone in the line of fire will lose. Cover & rolling can't be used while weapon is held. Anyone not in the line of fire will have a sever advantage. Makes quick work of vehicles. Best used as a fear tactic. Grenades - Instant kill if caught in range. Makes quick work of vehicles. Can be dropped to make a quick, temporary booby trap. Best used for flushing out players in cover. Sticky Bombs - Same as grenades, but have to be detonated manually. Best used for traps. Tear Gas - Creates cloud of slow damaging gas over several yards. Can be used to block enemies from entering a doorway. Makes a great scare tactic. Best used to flush out enemies from cover. Jerry Cans - Leaves trail of gasoline that can be ignited in various ways. Can be used to quickly destroy vehicles. Upon contact with enemies, the fire will instantly incapacitate and rapidly drain health. Slow and clumsy usage makes it impractical. Can be used for fire traps. Best used for humor. Grenade Launchers - Accurate up to medium range. Destroys vehicles on impact or close proximity. Easily eliminates enemies hiding behind cover. Best used to quickly destroy close range helicopters. RPGs - Similar to grenade launcher. Slower rate of fire. Covers greater distance. Best used for "the lulz". Melee - Very short range, medium damage. Useful for moving/damaging vehicles. 2. How to bedazzle your gun like a pro Weapon attachments can give you a life-saving advantage in most situations. Here are the different attachments, and why each of them are useful in their own way. Silencers - Arguably the best attachment, silencers, well...keep your weapon silent. More specifically, in deathmatches, they keep other players from seeing your position on the radar every time you fire. If you've played a deathmatch and wondered why everyone around you knows exactly where you, having an unsilenced weapon is probably why. Extended Magazines - Extended mags are like the U.S. Postal service. They're never appreciated until they're needed. In most instances, the extra bullets are just there as a security blanket, to make you feel better without doing anything meaningful. But every once in a while, you may encounter a situation that eats your bullets for all they're worth (e.g. encountering three, four, or five enemies in a row). Most players know that feeling of having to reload while having someone shoot at you. Having the extra bullets helps keep that feeling to a minimum. Grips & Scopes - Grips and scopes do the same thing, they increase accuracy. This is useful in all encounters, but shows it most when in longer ranged engagements. Higher accuracy helps you hit your target, which gives you a greater chance of survival. Pretty self explanatory. Flashlights - Flashlights should NEVER be on when in a deathmatch, regardless of the time of day. The light gives away your position faster than you can say, "I'm dead". They're useful against NPCs to help you see in the dark, but they're horrible against other players. Just leave them off. Better yet, take them off all your weapons except one you don't use. That way, if you do ever need the light, it'll never be in the way until needed. 3. Cover your ass If you take nothing else away from this guide, please, remember this: USE COVER! You wouldn't believe how many gunfights I've been in where my opponent would start firing at me from the middle of a field or empty parking lot. That's one of the WORST ways to start a fight. If you don't know, to use cover, simply walk up to something that looks like you can hide behind it (e.g. a wall, dumpster, picket fence, car, etc.), and press R1/RB. Where your character faces doesn't determine where you hide, your camera does. If you've ever noticed your character run to some random cover, not even close to the wall you were standing next to, that's why. Putting cover between you and your enemy astronomically raises your chance of survival. A bonus tip is to get a good look at your cover. Makes sure your head, butt, or knees aren't sticking out. If they are, find better cover fast. 4. Blind fire for dummies Blind fire is a simple technique you can use any time you are using cover. While behind cover, without aiming, just start shooting. Your character will either expose one or two arms (depending on the weapon being used), the weapon, and and a hail of righteous democracy. Blind fire sounds amazing already, right? Well, kind of. Firing blind is like a double-edged sword. Its pros are the already mentioned smaller target you become, and since your chest is covered, you can't be auto-aimed. Its cons are that you are less accurate than if aiming, and you can't auto-aim either. I find blind fire to be useful in two situations: the first being a situation where you see an easy kill at most a few yards away from you, but you know or feel like another players is waiting for you to break cover for an easy kill of their own. The second situation I've found useful is when a player gets the drop on you. By either sneaking or sprinting, another player has placed themselves dangerously close to your comfort zone. They're hiding behind cover, you're hiding behind cover, and neither of you wants to pop out to make the first hit because you both know the second shooter will have auto-aim, and probably the kill. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide whether blind firing in any given situation is advantageous. I've found the assault rifles useful for their large magazines and surprising accuracy while blind firing, but by far the most useful weapon to use while firing blind is the assault shotgun. I'll explain why a little later. 5. Zoom in to see the goods Now that you're safely snug behind some cover and ready for whatever your opposition could shoot at you, here's a small tip to help aim at enemies that are just a little too far away. While aiming with whatever boomstick you find useful, click the right thumbstick. Your weapon should zoom, albeit in varying degrees depending on the range of chosen boomstick. Why would zooming in on your target be useful? Two reasons: one being the ability to see subtle movement far away, an example being a foot moving at the edge of a dumpster fifty yards away. The second being a great lift off your shoulders when trying to make a headshot. That tennis ball sized head just grew to a soccer ball. "Well what do I need to make headshots for?" you may ask. I'm glad you did. 6. Shoot 'em in the head! Headshots make quick work of every character in GTA, players and NPCs alike, and for good reason, because...they're...headshots... Anyway, a headshot to any NPC will instantly kill said NPC. One shot, one kill, no muss, no fuss. Players on the other hand are a little different. There's a myth going around that certain helmets help protect your dome, but that's a different topic. Back to headshots. If you're having trouble making quick headshots, I behoove you to practice. Practice, practice, practice. I played Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare DLC until I hated it (unpossible!), and one core component of that game is headshots are one of your few ways to kill the undead. Amazing practice for any gunfights you will encounter in GTA V, online or otherwise. If you don't own RDR or the Undead Nightmare DLC, playing survival makes great practice. To help get you started with making headshots, auto-aim your target, and nudge the right stick up. That simple. With practice headshots will become an involuntary reflex. A few tips to help you out just a smidge when trying to get that headshot are to use a weapon that can auto-aim at the distance of your target, zoom in for a more accurate shot, and to change your targeting reticle to advanced. 7. Ninja skillz Sneaking is a unique aspect of GTA Online. It's absolutely useless when trying to hide from other players in the open world, since every player can see your character blip on their map. It has its uses when hiding from the police, but that's a different issue. Where the sneak stat shows its true value is in a deathmatch. The easiest way to die in a deathmatch besides suicide is by allowing other players to know your position. Running, sprinting, climbing, falling, brushing against almost anything, using explosives, driving a vehicle, and shooting an unsilenced firearm all create a "radius of sound". It appears as a red circle that grows and shrinks on your radar. Different actions create different levels of sound, but you want to try to keep all sound as minimal as possible because any enemy player inside the "sound radius" instantly sees your players position on their radar, which makes you public enemy number one. - Forgot to mention while aiming, if you hold X/A, you can move faster, but it doesn't work if your aim is zoomed. It's great help when sneaking or trying to move faster without taking your sights off a target. Also, while sneaking, strafe rolling (rolling sideways) is faster than holding the run button. 8. Combat roll makes you badass Rolling is in my opinion the best & most overlooked technique in GTA Online. To roll, hold the aim button, move in any direction, and while moving, press the jump button. Simple as that. This simple move has saved my ass more times than I can count. If caught off guard by a player shooting you from any direction, the first thing you should do is roll. "Why?" you ask? For one thing, rolling breaks your opponents' auto-aim. Yes, it is possible, but only for a second. Surprisingly enough, many players are so caught up with trying to get that one extra kill, they neglect to re-lock-on to your character, giving you that much needed, if slight, boost in your chances to survive the ambush. Also, if caught off guard, rolling gives you a precious moment to catch your bearings. If shot by someone out of view you can roll to the nearest cover (which there always should be), and at the same time turn the camera toward your would-be executioner, raising your odds of surviving such a disadvantage. Remember, speed is key. *Bonus Tip* : While using a sniper rifle, you can roll to quickly aim in another direction. 9. Hunting your prey the S-M-A-R-T way The Most difficult thing to master in a deathmatch or gunfight is knowing when to do what. If you feel like no matter what choice you make is wrong, fear not. Here are a few suggestions to help understand what to do in different situations, but remember, every situation is different. When to break cover: Just because you're hidden safely behind a wall or hiding in a dumpster, don't think you're untouchable. Keep an eye on any and every direction that's open to enemy fire. If an enemy shoots you from behind, either quickly turn the corner or roll to face your attacker. If you're lucky and the other player hasn't seen you, all the better. Another reason to break cover is if either an enemy has spotted you & left your line of sight, or you have killed all players in sight, both for the same reason. They know where you are. An enemy who knows your location knows your weak spot(s) & will most likely attack from your flank, from behind, from above, or explosively if you're covered on all sides. How to move through a deathmatch: Never sprint anywhere. Don't even light jog. Take things slow. Find cover first thing. Check your surroundings for enemies and the next best cover you have that's closer to your target. Break cover and SNEAK to your target. If another player sees you, they see you, but it's better to take that chance than let everyone on the map know exactly where you are. If you can, hug walls. It'll make you harder so see and it's faster than sneaking and just as quiet. As soon as you reach your next cover, immediately scan your surroundings again, then repeat. If you're patient, your enemies will come to you without knowing where you are until it's too late. Knowing when to reload: This is rarely a "tactical" decision. After a kill, reload. Simple as that. But, there are a few situations where that second means the difference between who's dead and who's on to the next victim. Rarely I'll come into a gunfight with a player who after a handful of bullets has to reload. Needless to say, those gunfights very quickly end. If you do happen to get caught in a gunfight and have to reload and you have no cover, roll, then reload. You'll throw off their auto-aim and give you a greater chance to survive. Knowing when to run away: Running away isn't even entertained as a possibility for most players. It's a tough decision for everyone, but it's better to run away and survive than to die from a sense of pride or greed. Many players HAVE to get that kill, regardless of any other factor. They see an enemy, they shoot. They don't take into account if they're outnumbered, how much health they have, if they have to reload soon, if they're even in cover, or any other disadvantage that makes engaging in a fight more trouble than it's worth. Consider your options before engaging, and if another player finds you first while you're at a huge disadvantage, they're no shame in running. If for no other reason than to fool them into chasing you so you can ambush them. Fight smarter, not harder. 10. Assault shotgun = WIN The assault shotgun is arguably the most overpowered and most fun weapon in GTA V. Its damage is devastating up to medium range, and surprisingly accurate to boot. The assault shotgun's rate of fire is exceptional for the damage it deals. Simply hold the trigger and let the weapon do the work or tap the trigger repeatedly for an even faster flood of destruction. But it doesn't stop there kids, this bad boy can be upgraded from an already impressive magazine of 8 shells to a whopping 32 shell magazine! If you EVER get into a no hope situation, whip this bad boy out and I guarantee if you don't kill any and everyone trying to end you, at least you'll go down having a blast. The assault shotgun is a force to be reckoned with. 11. Body Armor doesn't make you a badass Body armor is a wonderful tool in the right hands, but a deadly trap if not understood. I've heard many players and "guide-givers?" (yeah...that's a word...maybe...) say it's a waste of money buying armor. If this was a census, I'd mark "strongly disagree". I always, ALWAYS buy armor, every chance I get. It gives you a greater chance of survival, and that alone makes it worth the few hundred bucks. Don't get me wrong, armor doesn't make you invincible, and it doesn't make you much harder to kill, especially if you're being shot in the head, but it helps, and that can mean everything. Just don't do anything you wouldn't normally do without it and your body armor should serve you well. Granted, if you see armor sitting in the middle of an empty parking lot, I'd advise against it. You open yourself up to a quick death and even if you do nab the armor, you're only half of the way back to cover. If you happen to be near some armor, sure, nab it, but don't risk your life for it. But remember, any item picked up in a deathmatch disappears from the radar. Everyone's radar. It's like a sneaky way of your enemies finding your location, or you finding theirs. Use with caution. 12. Last mag, last mag! Running out of ammo is embarassing in any situation. You start up a mission with some friends or strangers and the first thing you have to do is run to Ammu-Nation, halting the mission and making everyone wait on you. Not a good feeling. But where it really stings is when another player comes out of nowhere and makes you their personal bullet sponge for the next hour or so. This griefer and little 'ol you go at it for a few dozen minutes when you suddenly realize all your bullets are gone. Oh shi-BANG! and you're done. You can either leave to another session or slowly, painstakingly make your way to an Ammu-Nation and hopefully have enough cash to buy some bullets to keep this bullet train 'a chuggin'. Needless to say, keeping your ammo topped off is a simple way to give you an advantage in any gunfight. Also, the higher your gun skill, the more ammo you can carry, up to 9999 at skill 100 with all guns. If you're having trouble raising your gun skill at an acceptable rate, I suggest running survivals. They're a great way to raise your shooting & stamina skills, refill your ammo if it's running low, give you brief access to weapons you won't unlock until higher levels, they pay $20,000 if completed, and give a few thousand RP. What's not to love? 13. Remember, It's just a game. Or is it? GTA Online is an amazing, emersive experience that provides truly endless hours of entertainment. Being such an awesome game, it will attract all kinds of players, including the less desirables (e.g. trolls, griefers, etc.). Some players have the most fun when causing the most pain. Instead of giving in and fighting back against usually a group of players who grinded and hacked their way to the top and are "bored" with this masterpiece of gaming, I suggest you simply switch to another session, or even leave the game for a minute or two. Go make a snack, smoke a cigarette, use the restroom, do your homework (for the the children reading this with apathetic parents), etc. Playing a game while angry makes most people play worse. It clouds their judgement, screws up their coordination, and throws their strategic planning out the window. If you're one of these people, or even if you're not, the next time you encounter a troll or griefer, I ask you to take a minute to cool off, just to see if it helps. When you come back to the game you may surprise yourself with how much better you're playing. Grand Theft Auto is a game. It's meant to entertain. Enjoy it. 14. TL/DR Choose your weapons wisely. Miniguns aren't always "leet". Flashlights hurt more than they help. If you want to see in the dark, put it on a weapon you don't use. Silencers = WIN in deathmatches, Useless in freeroam (against players). Always use cover if you can. Be wary of your blind spots and flanks. Pulling the trigger in cover without aiming lets you blind fire. It's more accurate than you think. Add Assault Shotgun for extra Pwnage. Clicking the left stick while aiming lets you zoom. Makes gun more accurate. Headshots almost always equal one-hit kills. Never hurts to try. Sneaking in deathmatches gives a huge advantage. USE IT! While aiming and moving, press the jump button. It lets you roll. Rolling breaks auto-aim and stops NPCs from being able to shoot you for a short time. Most invaluable tip I have. Even if you have body armor, don't be any more reckless. Keep bullets stocked. There's no such thing as too much. Shaenno
Reveal players, it's the easiest way to get kills. I know some people would say "but that's so unfair since I don't do that blabla" who cares, Lester is there to help you. I played in one deathmatch before where it was full lobby (16 people in) and ALL high ranked players (90+ up) you can just imagine the chaos there. For close ranged ALWAYS use Auto-shot gun, it's your best friend. Take cover and stay in one safe spot if possible. The only thing I don't like about camping is the random spawning of players, so make sure to camp on the roof or something where players don't spawn often. Always go for headshots, even a crappy pistol can take down an enemy so easily with this rather than a carbine. It usually takes longer for a carbine to kill enemies cause you tend to shoot them on the body not the head. ten-a-penny

The Flat 47
A few minor tips that I don't think anyone has mentioned. Be careful when climbing walls fences etc, but doing so in the right situation can save your life. If you're not sure where the enemy is but know they're close, avoid climbing anything at all costs - you're a sitting duck while the animation takes place. However, if you're on a tight map, sometimes if you get ambushed or swarmed quickly climbing a wall higher than head height and then flanking from another angle is a good tactic, at least its worked to my advantage. I don't have any silenced weapons, as I don't play DM's that much, but I don't necessarily think its a weakness. Just remember that you will turn up on the map. So, if you shoot someone, move position but make sure where you were previously is in your sightline, 9 times out of 10 the enemy will come looking for you in that spot and you'll have an easy kill. Use your camera to see round corners, if you're covering open ground make sure you swivel your camera to check if anyone is around you. Be decisive - if you've accidentally swapped to the SNS Gun mid firefight, either deal with it and pop them in the head or get in cover. Panicking and trying to switch weapons is most times a guaranteed death. Oh, and as one of the Rockstar loading screens says, if you click in the right thumbstick the camera will look behind you instantly, then if you play auto-aim, you can swivel round and lock on by pulling the trigger. A lifesave when you get jumped from behind. Otherwise, taking your time, using alleyways, unconventional routes and roofs, rolling and sneaking around as others have said, are the main ways to win. H8GodMode
i disagree with the camping method. unless you somehow got the best seat in the house... running around like a madman will get you more kills if you know what ur doing, i find combat roll can be more effective than cover itself... but i will add in that u do want to be around cover... but don't hug the walls... u should always have your gun pointed... stand where they can't shoot you but don't hug the wall because it takes too long to recover when they're aiming already and u have to pop out, then lift your gun up... theres a lot to it though u could write a book on this subject imo I've never lost a deathmatch for one reason, every random I meet is just godawful at this game. The majority of them use idiotic weapons, and never take cover, easy pickings. thats my biggest downfall is the TDM ruins things... unorganized teammates who just suck... im 215-200 overall record and i bet majority of my losses come from some random member getting a 3-15 for my team... MysterBeefy
theres a lot to it though u could write a book on this subject imo I can attest to that. There's just so much to GTA pvp that you simply can't explain every little detail of every possible situation you might come across. You can try, which I think I made an honest attempt, but there's always some small thing you could do that takes so much explaining. For example, try explaining how to get headshots consistently without thinking about it. It's a pain and takes forever. The best advice I can give, and I think others will agree, is to simply play the game, and play it a lot. I played GTA IV and RDR so much I'm sick of them, and I'm still not the best at pvp. But, without those hours and hours of "training", I'd be nowhere near as good as I am now. Little tips help, and they help a lot, but nothing compares to muscle memory. A last little tip for anyone who wants to get better at headshots and has the money, buy RDR and the Undead Nightmare DLC. Playing through that just one time will immensely help your shooting. Con9mm
Hello Day Reaper, what is the price of these tattoos? (you have): 1) burning heart 2) Grim Reaper If you let me know I would be grateful Sorry I'm just reading this now. The Grim Reaper leg was $14,300 if I remember right and the Burning Heart was like only $1,790 or something silly I was surprised. Anyways you can google for exact amounts as it was a few months back now. watch this guys videos and study his techniques... he has over 70,000 kills and his crew is small but top of the TDM leaderboards... sometimes seeing is easier than reading.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OtJob0kJ24 Link didn't work. ragazzodel77

elliot35
While aiming, press X to jason roll. It will take the auto-target off of you. In other words, you disable the auto assist your enemy is using, throwing off his/her aim and making them have to re-target you. This is most useful in close to medium range pistol fights or long range assualt rifle fights. This tactic doesn't work very well against shotguns, so be careful. garvdart
Other people mentioned most of the important components of being a viable killing machine, so I won't add any redundancy, but an overlooked part of deathmatches is what your character is wearing. Seeing a hot pink tank-top against a gray wall definitely helps me spot and take advantage of the player, so keep in mind how your character looks. It's not as important as getting headshots down to reflex or combat rolling, but it's something to take into account. Also, characters' skin tends to shine or glow in sunlight, so covering up your limbs helps to keep you hidden. One last tip for anyone who could care less how they look and only care about winning, put on one of the visor helmets to help protect you from headshots. Hope this helps! P.S. If you're on PS3 I'd be happy to run some deathmatches with you or whatever if you think it'd help. That goes for anybody. What not too wear... bright colors/ top hats...heels etc. It does matter if you stand out you are a easy target. Spontaneous erratic movement can get from cover too cover too avoid snipers. The combat roll is great but mix it up and roll left right or back every once in awhile. WillWorthington3 and Con9mm

I have tried to find the best formula as far as warfare gear and what I suggest is when you are in the next deathmatch, see which opponent is tough to see from a distance and try and remember those color schemes. Like you said, avoid HATS any HATS.....also avoid bright colors. Dont make it easy for the opponent to shoot your face, so dont wear the masks that make the AIM RETICLE easier to see. I like using the white masks or the wooden masks. When im not wearing a mask i have my 'Mime face paint and my headshot face tattoo so i like to think it makes the enemy take that mili-second longer to find their aim dot on my face or head. aquahaze2
I've played about 60 and won most of them, my second game i got an 18 kill streak i think. TDM is fairly simple here's a few tips: 1. Use silencers on every weapon to prevent you showing up on the map. 2. Never run because you will appear on the map. 3. find a good position and stay there, on rooftops is always good. 4. Use cover, always be the second person to reveal yourself and you will win 80% of your gunfights. 5. Use the best weapons these are: AP pistol, assault shotgun, special carbine, combat mg, heavy sniper. well I rarely lose any fights and and don't use the stuff mention above 1.run around never stop moving 2.roll everytime you see someone 3.aim for the head that's pretty much it and I have like 8000 kills, and I use the worse weapons unless I get killed 3 times in a row, (regular AK, regular sniper, snawn off shotgun) because I already have the LSPD tint for the best ones. also I don't use silencers because...well it sounds cooler lol iv also been told im really fast but that's the main asset, be faster then the other guy, don't zoom all the way in with the sniper if your already aimed at the head, and don't be afraid to free aim it if you to far away to lock on hope this helps
