So I'm totally bored and figured I go up to Paleto Bay and max my lung capacity. After doing that for a while I hopped on a Seashark I found and just rode off towards the horizon. All of a sudden the engine cuts out. I'm thinking "WTF"? Then the craft proceeds to sink. And as soon as I hit the water I was dead.

 

EDIT: I also noticed that in that area of the water its spawns Coast Guard officers in orange vests on the police boats rather than the city cops

Of you want to get past the cut off or if you want to quite literally leave orbit, grab a tank and do the gate glitch. My top speed is something like 28,000mph and I have seen some strange things in gta space.

That happened because you went out from the north side of the island. There is a "dead zone" to the north. Had you started at Humane Labs and went east across the water in about 30 minutes you would have reached Vice City. You can't go onto the land cause you fall through but you can circle it in your boat.

 

One last thing that everyone should realize - anytime you find something and think your the first person to discover it and you want to post about it - just tell yourself that it has already been found and discussed ad nauseam so you don't need to post.

i remember a few months back i swam out as far as i could. i think i mashed X for about 30 minutes and at that point the waters were glitching out until i eventually hit a death barrier.

THERE IS ACTUALLY A WAY TO SEMI-BY PASS THE LIMIT.

 

Don't think anyone has come up with this before.

 

It's quite obvious actually, can't believe no one has thought of it. So, when you go however so far out, and your plane/boat is destroyed or sinks, you must abondon it and swim. Wait a few seconds, and a bunch of red dots will appear on your map, which are sharks. So, all you do is switch characters. Simple. Then switch back. The sharks will be gone. Then you are free to keep swimming. You won't see any more sharks.

 

I do believe however there is a boundary that is IMPOSSIBLE to pass, as after a while of swimming, i just died, randomly. Then again, the next time I swam out as far as i could I tried switching back and forth every 5 minutes or so of swimming, and I could swear I got a lot further then before. In the end I just ended up switching characters and doing something else.

 

~There's no real point to this though~ it gets rather boring quickly.

In all seriousness now, it is possible to break past the "engine disabler" area.

You need a Cargo Plane: as it can accelerate infinitely, albeit slowly, it is the fastest vehicle in game. Circle around the map until the distance draw can't keep up anymore, then fling your plane outside the map. The engine disabler needs time to react and you won't crash.
