should rockstar allow us to unlock car mods by solo racing?

well, seeing as how we cant do that, and they fixed that racing supers or bikes unlocks mods for every vehicle, i really think they should make it so we can unlock car mods by racing solo

 

face it, when in hell are you going to get 50 race wins for the SUV class NOW, no one races anything either than supers, sports, bikes, and then the low chance of muscle cars

 

it'll be extremely hard to unlock everything without having someone to "boost" with

 

yes i know they're racing crews, but thats just tedious in the long run

This is the way it was supposed to be at the start, hah.

 

A large portion of my losses came from helping people get wins in muscle and SUV/offroad before we realised you could just race supers to get the wins.

I think the problem is the implementation rather than the idea of having race wins give unlocks, I think for example that in a race with more than 3 people, second place should count as a win towards unlocks (or something along those lines), or just reduce the number of wins required for all of the unlocks. While I like the idea of needing to achieve something, this is too much effort for too little reward, all the more so for having each kind of car be unlocked independently of the others.

 

If there were only one character we had to do that with that'd be one thing, but there are 5 character slots and if we ever want to make proper use of the extra garage space we have to unlock all those mods on every character. I've already done it on two characters where the unlocks shared between classes, and even that was a huge pain. Now that unlocks don't share between classes, unlocking the mods for those other characters will take forever (and really I doubt I'll bother, it's just not worth it, I might go for one more character just for the third garage but that'll be it).

The race wins for unlocks is the only thing worse than everything being locked by ranks. I would have honestly rather had ranks lock it than wins.

But that being said, they shouldn't have been locked. If you had the money to upgrade your car, you should be able to upgrade it.

Having to win races to unlock upgrades you need to win races is the most ass backwards design for a GTA game.

Yeah, I could just race where upgraded cars are locked out. Too bad hardly anyone races in those.

I could just find someone to trade wins with, but at that point what's the f*cking point of even having them locked?

 

Is there any game out there outside of GTA that uses a system like this? Where you literally have to get 1st place multiple times to upgrade your vehicle?

If anything should be unlocked from competition, it should be cosmetics for your character or vehicle such as spoilers and clothing. I think having OP weapons and vehicle mods that need to be unlocked just ruins the fairness of what a competition is supposed to be. If you can't win on an even playing field, what's the point of winning at all?

I found this out accidentally, when some random host went AFK from a race I joined. You can just keep voting to replay the race. As long as your co-conspirator host rubber-bands their controller so they don't time out, you can keep racing.

Indeed, it's totally back-asswards. There is no attempt to create fair play. It's all structured so the player will slink back to LSC to buy each incremental upgrade of brakes, engine, transmission and suspension, so they have an ever-so-slight chance of not getting their ass kicked, as they keep desperately trying to win a few more races to achieve the next upgrade. It's all about . . . wait for it . . . cash cards.

thats how it USED to work, it was a "bug"

Say it as many times as you want it's still wrong. 50 Wins in any "land vehicle" unlocks everything.
