Seriously need help with the game failing...

Recommended Posts

RogueStatus

Last night i tried to load the game and on the load screen, i noticed the music stopped playing and just sat there.

did a quick game reset and this time it eventually loaded in SP. im standing there as Franklin listening to music in his house and then the music stops and i cannot access the charactor wheel to go online. press pause and the game locks again.

went thru the same process this time started with online play, finally got my player to load and went for a drive... no more than 20 seconds down the road, the horizon and bldgs fail to load and game freezes again.

i have never had this problem before and all other games seem fine. is this a GTA issue or something more than that?

It does sound like a disk reading issue. Try cleaning it.

If you can try installing the disk to your HD, that'll stop the game from trying to read the disc and isntead it'll read it from the HD. The problems with installing both discs to the HD don't seem to be a problem anymore.

I had a similar problem. I had to clear up room on my HD then uninstall/reinstall the game files. No problems since.

Pour a pan of boiling water into your Playstation while it is on. If this doesn't unjam it, try sending in a trained squad of pubic lice to remove any unwanted hairs which might be tangling up game data.

Hope this helps.

where have you been hiding,,, been a while...

definitely not the digital version... you still need the disc to run the game even if installed on PS3. i may check the disc for dirt or somthing but i cant imagine it would let me get that far with a dirty disc.

wait for it... im guessing the funny part of this post is coming still...

Try looking up disc cleaning methods online and see if its not just a scratch or something on the disc. Also make a backup of your save file and delete it and see if you can access online after you do the Tutorial. If it's a game corruption problem I can msg you a link for a new save game file you can use.

depends where the dirt is, disc reads from inside to outside right??

Im PS3. i only had one disc and its already installed on my HD

I was too. Just uninstall and reinstall... also clear up some space, it might be too full.

Hi John, you still look like a nutter.

OP, had loads of problems with both our playstations with the disc version, but got the digital version on both and haven't had a problem since. I can't recommend the digital version highly enough.

i have no idea how they read... could be.

great advice... thank you sir

It will actually. And like I mentioned try re-installing the disk. I had problems with GTAO freezing on me constantly when I bought a used HD for my xbox. I'd re-install the game and then it worked for a bit longer or not load at all. Since I was getting different results every time I kept re-installing until I finally got it to work. Took 6 installations though.

In your case however it really does sound like accessing a corrupt file is causing the game to hang. The file could have become corrupt for a number of reasons, if the files i being read from the HD it could just be a bad sector and re-installing may write the game to another sector and "fix" the problem. Or your HD could be failing in which case nothing will fix it except a new HD. Otherwise if the game is reading the music from the disc then it could be a problem with the optical laser of your drive or the disc itself is smudged/damaged. Cleaning the optical eye may fix it, I've had to clean the one on my xbox a dozen or so times now as it's been going bad on me.

Hello children.

I haven't been hiding, I just got to the point of hating this version of GTA a whole lot quicker than the last one.

So I thought I'd pop back here and help everyone else reach perpetual misery, because I'm so f*cking generous.

Different strokes for different folks.

i dont play a lot of other games but all others run and play just fine. never a snag or freeze on anything.

im sure theres much more data involved with GTA than most other games though.

Might be your install corrupted.. key word is MIGHT. I would uninstall and reinstall the game, just to rule out any corrupted file.

DISCLAIMER: The above is what I would do. You do what you think it`s best - my explanation is to troubleshoot, so I would rather do everything new than shoot in the dark with all sorts of half measures. You might be on a different plan, however.

That's a very neutral response. Are you sure you wouldn't like to call me a c*nt or something? I mean, it's absolutely fine, I don't mi...f*ck YOU'VE GOT ME BEING MEASURED AND REASONABLE NOW TOO. BASTARD.

f*ck this, I'm off for a sh*t. In the swimming pool.
