SP - Money earned vs Money added to character

I've noticed the amount of money that is displayed when completing a mission is often less than what is actually added to the characters wallet in single player mode.

 

For instance the Vice Assassination of the fellow picking up a call girl. Gold completion shows $5,0000 but the actual amount given to the character is $3,000. Is the quest giver taking a cut?

 

If this was already addressed I'm sorry for posting again, I did not find this searching the forums.

EDIT: seems it's not every mission; just did assassination 4 with the bus for $7,000, finished gold and got the full $7,000.

I'm confused. The correct amount for Gold completion of the Vice Assassination should be $3,000

Well it must have been changed or fixed in a patch recently, because I did that mission a couple weeks ago when I had updated for the first time ever to get the Valentine's update, and I also got less money than the amount listed as the completion reward. Though I don't remember exactly what those amounts were.

No, the Brady Game Guide (which was published when the game was released ), states $3,000
