Questions about starting a new character...

I want to restart my campaign in GTA Online by creating a new character.

 

I am curious as to how modding your cars will go ; do I have to win 50 races to unlock certain upgrades, or do those stats carry over to the new character from your old one (sort of how the bank account crosses two characters)? And, if I do need to win all those races all over again, will it count if I do them by myself?

Just started one for my wife to get her the Valentine's outfits. And, sadly, you have to win all the races again :( It's not as bad as it sounds as it tends to match you up with same level racers when starting out low.

 

I don't know if it'll count to race by yourself because I don't play with myself.
