honestly, because I don't play a whole lot of video games anymore...

eventually, you reach a certain age where the typical "one sequel a year that's really the same video game" just doesn't do it for you anymore...

basically, I usually play Halo multiplayer, GTA, and Rocksmith.... that's about it.... Halo multiplayer on 4, while brilliant, just hasn't caught my attention like past titles did, the arthritis in my wrists acts up after playing more than a half hour of Rocksmith, and GTA 4 multiplayer wasn't all that great...

These days, I fire up Rocksmith for a little while every day, and then once my wrists start hurting, I start playing GTA:O. That's one of the big reasons why I'm not too worried about buying an Xbox 1 anytime soon, because the Rocksmith games and GTA:O are all on the 360... maybe once the next Halo comes out, I'll buy one, and possibly when GTA 6 comes out... If things work out the way I believe they might, I may have to buy V once it's ported to 1.... until those things happen, I'm not the least bit interested... I'll just play GTA:O until the streets of San Andreas become ghost towns.... then I'll play some more until I'm bored with it...

Most of my complaints and criticisms come down to one thing: I want a world to visit and play in, not activities to participate in. I feel I've imagination enough to think of my own ways to have fun - if the world is good enough. San Andreas is a GREAT place to visit. If all updates/patches stopped, I'd still be playing regularly till GTAVI is released.

To be honest, I don't even know anymore. I made a few more friends through a friend of mine and play with them now, but I have no idea what actually keeps me going.

Friends still play.

I expected this game to have these kind of first few months anyway.

I know what you mean. This is like dating a new girl. The first few months are the cupcake phase where you love everything about her, then you start see her tendencies and attitude toward things and then suddenly, sometimes she's not as attractive to you as she was before. That's pretty much the vibe I get from a lot of people who are on the fence about the game or have given up on it.

Simple question. The answer might be simple for some and not so simple for others, but with the discussions going about everything from supposed lack of content to Rockstar's greed to every point in between, you who read this chances are probably still pops the disc into your console (or if you're like me and bought it digitally, just starts it up) and plays the game.

Why?

I guess the OP should answer first so...

I play the game still because despite a rocky launch and despite technical setbacks with bugs and glitches and all that still holds the game down, it's fun to play. GTA was always open ended, but it's games have been linear still in that the story has it's natural ending. GTAO is never-ending, and the more that's added to it, by either R*'s making or my own, the more dynamic it becomes compared to single player GTA. There are big plans for this, and plan on being around to see it all happen, no matter how long it takes for it to happen.

We'll I'm one of those cool guys who don't use Compact Discs to play games *Lester chuckle* erm however! I still play the game because there is always someone out there doing something productive in free roam, whether it's taking Simeon's vehicles! modding vehicles for friends! trying to shop.

And as long as they are out there doing that, there has to be a man to grief them. A man who will never allow Simeon to get another vehicle. A man who will never allow you to give a car to a friend. A man who spends millions on sticky bombs. A man who chases down all blips with a number on them. A man who enters passive upon having his tank destroyed, only to air thrust on the nearest ledge. A man who laughs when he sees "Bad Sport time 21d 17h 59m". A brave man. A...... GriefMan.

I am GRIEFMAN. I protect Los Santos from fun and joy and replace it with grief and turmoil. There is always fun to be had and money to make in Los Santos and I am here to put an end to it. For as long as it takes, I will protect my city from all that is good.

Thank you for sharing with us your problems, but that was not the subject. Possibly you need glasses to read better.

Nice way of putting it. Thing is, to me, games are more like my favorite pizza place that changed the cook and it doesn`t taste good anymore. So that is usually the time I go look for a Pizzeria that makes it as I want it.

You see, to a human being, you have obligations. To a dish you don`t. I see games as a dish and not as a human being :)

Because I don't know of any other sandbox game that gives you as much freedom and as many options as GTA. Free mode alone has almost anything to fit my mood. Throw in the ridiculous amount of missions, races, deathmatches, golf, tennis, and user created variations and I've never been bored.

I pretend I'm a criminal 1 or 2 hours a day... or a street racer... or a filthy rich bachelor with no wife and kids... and no real job. It's awesome.

* DO NOT EVER GET MARRIED AND HAVE KIDS... wear a condom... get snipped... because your wife and kids will take all your money.

EDIT: and it's FREE to play so my wife doesn't nag about "wasting" money.

I still play occasionally because it's GTA. Until Watch Dogs shows its teeth, I will continue to do so.... then it's time for a new world.

I have not played on my own account in months though. just at friends houses or in my room mates room while hitting his enormous bong. (probably why he plays GTAO so much)

I stopped playing in mid january, got pissed that they patched all the more fun exploits that kept the game feeling fresh...

Started again when i heard that you could put NOS in your cars, and i went ahead and raced the sports class with a Penumbra (the slowest of the sport class) and managed to beat a few elegy and carbo riders :p

But they took nos away, so now i only play when i have nothing better to do.

I play because it's fun, but mostly it's a good way to stay in touch with friends who I don't see much anymore because we're all busy with work, family, kids, etc.

Because I take great pleasure in attacking other players and crews solo. You always come across some bad ass mofo in a jet or on foot and to me thats fun. You can only do so much social stuff before you NEED to blow people up. Here's hoping they do a military DLC and add more hardware.

The list could go on forever as to why I still play. To keep it concise though, the game is endless in entertainment. Despite the minor bugs, my quote for GTA Online has been, and always will be "Never a dull moment."

Is this The Guy?

Because it's still fun really. Whether it's painting cars, stealing cars, killing people for no reason, or farming missions I still enjoy myself. And the last dlc was delicious.

Friends.

As long as you have a group the game can be infinite fun, I have a couple buddies who just got the game! So its my new duty to help them through the ranks and show them the ropes.

plus waiting for more DLC and content.

I'm still having fun. (:

I also start new characters when I reach level 100. Now that we have missions in the pause menu, leveling up is so much faster than before. I'm 48 on my new character and I've put 41 hours in so far.. thank you Rooftop Rumble grinders. <3

My disk has been out of the tray twice since release day, both times to install games I've picked up on sale so that when I finally get around to them they're updated and ready to go (oblivion and bureau for the record). I tend to be a one game at a time guy and only get 2-3 hours a day to play plus I tend to take my time. Got two characters, 67 and 35. Still having fun, basically. Great crew, staying mostly out of public free roam...

I'm still playing because I'm not finished yet. There's so much in the game to be played. Beyond the obvious jobs, achievements and awards... there's also this amazingly detailed world to explore and discover. If the game had no missions, no survivals, no races, no jobs, I would still be impressed with what Rockstar has created.

Right now I'm focused on closing out achievements and awards. I'm at level 210 so I don't care for farming money or RP.

If anyone says they have finished the game, I would say they are wrong. There's way more than 5 months worth of game to be played here, well above and beyond all the achievements and awards Rockstar identified.

I feel sorry for the people who only play one part of the game and then complain that there needs to be more content. Sure it would be great to have more missions or whatever, but open your eyes - there's more to the game than that!

Why I am still playing requires an story to be told.

Ahem. One day I decided to want to get rid of my PS3 because I am mainly a PC gamer and I don't really have interest in PlayStation anymore.

Then I had two friends come over who wanted to play some GTA V. As I did, I just realized that I can't play it on PC (yet) and now I am here for a choice.

And I decided to go with keeping the PS3 until GTA V comes out on PC.
