Yeah i do,since 2011 but i dont really play it and i havent finished it.

You shouldn't be saying crap about it if you haven't even finished it.

Looks like we'll have to detain you... again. :miranda:

Lol but i played the game to the part i got to Mexico and then Blackwater.i so the snow Online when Free Roaming but that not SO Realistic i guess.

Did you even read what I said? There is an area with mountains and lots of high places in West Elizabeth, of course there is snow there then.

@LSPD

GTA had always had some sort of Realism and that was taken to Next Level since IV,and that Predates RDR.plus fans loves GTA's Balance of Realism and Wackiness (fun) and i said that in my last comment.They Could have gone Alternative Era with RDR just like AC ,Lol jk,flying planes and having horses with Jetpacks :)

@DutchGangsta

Yeah i did read it and i also read the link LSPD showed me,and it makes sense (unfortunately) :)

That why i said Alternative Era,but doesnt have to been that drastic,i cant remember the name of that movie that came out last year (?) ,it about Sci-fi Wildwest with Cowboys.

Wait, so two seconds ago it was about "dat realism", now it's about Sci-fi?

Wow, even I'm a bit lost on this thread now. :bored:

For Sci-Fi, get Saints Row IV.

Imagine a GTA: F*cking Far Future. That would be total anarchy.

5. Peds always have the same one-liners. How often haven't you heard these? "Heay wassup", "your car is the sh*t, so hot", "hey girl", etc.?

Sure, GTAIV and RDR had repetition too but seemingly more variety, thus repetition was less noticeable.

Are you forgetting about the "CHEESY VAGINAS" hobo dude?

I also hear this one a lot: Scheisse! (I don't know how to type a German double s on my Laptop)

Cars are faster, roads are wider, very few trees, too few dead-end roads, very few interiors etc. Believe it or not, but these kind of stuff make it feel small. The world isn't dense enough, if you know what I mean.

@LSPD

I am not making myself look stupid,(but it fine if you think so),i get your point planes didnt exist then,but RDR is also Linear than AC (afterall both Franchise are restrictive in Openworld Gameplay) that why RDR had invisible walls.Like i said before GTA 5 has it Pros and Cons and this thread is trying to use a non-GTA Family game to bash on it,so that why i listed RDR worst parts and i am not the only one.But hey atleast in Cowboy movies you can see a Cowboy and his horse crossing the River unlike in RDR,and also RDR map isnt even bigger than LS county and it only desert,no varied landscape-just mountains and deserts with few peds.

Hey, sorry, but we CAN cross some rivers with our horses. Not the main, but in the mission "The outlaw's return" we go to Bonnie and take some cows to the Marston Farm and, in the way, we cross the river on the horse:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4F4y004FG0#t=249

After I done this mission for the first time, I started a new game and tried to cross the river... this time, before unlock the northern area, I just sunk in the water... hahaha

By the way, we can go inside the big lake on tall trees (the snowy area) on the horse or on foot without die... but if we advance through the river... we will sink.

Yeah i do,since 2011 but i dont really play it and i havent finished it.

I will try bro,hopefully one of these days :)

It's more immersive than the new SA... =(

Well... Talking about "interiors", RDR gave us a lot of enterable places. Since stores to abandoned houses/buildings. Remember the "Cueva Seca", with the solitaire abandoned house? It's real nice be able to enter these places. Tesoro Azul abandoned fort... Gapthoot breach... Tumbleweed! And don't forget that fort that we go to rescue that mexican rebel guy, with some mounted cannons! That game was amazing!
Now, about the map size, I think that we have the sensation that RDR have a huge map it's because almost time we are or on horse or on foot... and we have a lot of soil variations....

@killahmatic

True bro,plus you couldnt even ride that car we saw in the first cut-scene what a dissapointment.Bro the OP

didnt even title it as "IV vs V" but went far by adding "RDR" what a joke.

Edit:RDR didnt even have Sharks and i am sure boat existed in 1911 what a disappointment also.

So GTA VC and III must have also sucked because there was no ability to swim, right? Why would there be sharks when there's no swimming, anyway? There's a reason given for why John can't swim, unlike those two GTAs.

Also, yeah, you ride in that car twice. Drive it, no, but you are a passenger in it. Either way, since cars were an extreme rarity in 1911, why would John drive one?

A couple of other things. What the hell is "butthating"? Your points about people who HAVE NEVER PLAYED THE DAMN GAME praising it don't help your case, either. Lastly, how the hell can RDR be a 'GTA cowboys' when the story is NOTHING akin to any games in the GTA series, nor are their any stealable cars? Yeah, there are guns. Whoop-de-f*cking-doo. Yup, Rockstar 'copied' their own game.

Frankly, for whatever GTA excels at, RDR had a MUCH better level of immersion, many people will back me up on that.

Yeah but you can ride a boat in III and VC.

@Dutch Gangsta

GTA did Sci-fi with GTA2 (1999) electro-guns etc and it Predates the whole Saints Row Franchise not just Saints Row 4.

No it doesn't. Liberty City was a dense f*cking city. It was a great, detailed city. But a city nonetheless. Buildings, buildings and more buildings. No variety, no sense of large scale. And that's fine, because GTA IV wasn't going for the same tone and feel as GTA V was.

Just like Vice City wasn't going for the same feel as III and so on...

Yeah, and they took place in 1986 and 2001. In 1911, boats were rare and they would have been pointless anyway. All there was to explore was on land. Edited by PhilosophicalZebra

RDR as great a game as it is is scripted as well. I must have saved the hooker from being stabbed about a hundred times.

IV had fixed vehicle spawn spots as well. Go to the Driveway by Faustin's house by Firefly Island and you will see that same Turismo in the driveway every time.

Are you even using logic?

Game about Pirates? Are they going to fly? No they're going to use boats for the most part.

Game about the Wild West? Are they going to fly? No they're going to use horses.

Its simple logic. How can you not understand that?

Just like saying GTA doesn't have hacking yet Watch Dogs does. The game isn't made that way.

I agree with every one of OPs points except the one about ped conversations. If you stick around some of them actually have full fledged conversations. And unlike iv, a peds response to another ped is always relevant to the conversation. Yesterday, a woman I found at the beach had a full phone call.

That's quite an exaggeration. I remember once standing by a couple of guys with Michael and despite one of them starting a new topic the other guy kept on saying "f*ck off" everytime the other guy came up with something new to talk about. How is that relevant to the discussion? You make it sound like they have fully fleshed out conversations like real people which they don't. For the most part it's generic and isn't any better than GTA IV.

Also peds talked on their phones in GTA IV too. Anyway I agree with the OP. For such a big and beautiful open world it feels very scripted and linear.

Of course every game has to be scripted to some degree, but GTA V takes it to a disappointing new level. Even GTA III isn't as scripted and linear as what GTA V is. One thing that grinds my gears is how forceful the game can sometimes be.

I don't like it in certain situations where in some missions you can only walk because the game dictates it. I think that's stupid and makes the game feel more linear than some corridor shooters. GTA IV was never like that and infact didn't feel anywhere near as restrictive with what it had.

Officer Ronson: I think what annoys people about the engines running is the way it's implemented. In GTA IV it was a simple press of the triangle button. The fact you have to enter a combat stance is absolutely ridiculous and makes it more of a nuisance than it should be.

In some ways I hope Watch Dogs towels GTA V and shows how to do a proper, dynamic gaming world. Maybe it'll force R* into submission for GTA VI.

This impression hit me after a few days of playing

3. Hikers, fishermen, planes, park rangers, bicycles, motorbikes, etc. always appear in the exact same spots.

What? As in:

Hikers always appear on mountain trails?

Fishermen always appear on fishing jettys?

Planes always appear in the sky?

Park Rangers always appear in National Parks?

Bicycles & Motorbikes appear on or near roads?

How can you possibly have a problem with this?

That's not what he means. He means literally the exact same spot. For example, there is a chubby guy in a white shirt walking his dog that always spawns in front of Trevor's hanger, ALWAYS. They always start at the exact same spot. You never see them as they are making their way to the airstrip. Always right in front of the right side of his hanger.

The train always spawns passing the hospital in sandy shores right after you get killed. ALWAYS

There is always a mail truck turning out of the building opposite one of the construction sites downtown. On the other side of the same building, their is always a taco truck turning out.

There is always a small jet landing at the airport when you are heading to los santos customs from the marina. Every single time. It always shows up just when you pass the small fence.

I could go on

I must be playing the game wrong because I haven't seen a "chubby fat guy" at Trevor's Hanger...I see different people every time, sometimes with a dog, sometimes without, sometimes shouting at me and my looks (In which I kill them)...

Also, the Train doesn't' ALWAYS spawn after you get killed at the Sandy Shores Hospital...I RARELY see it there...I mostly see it around Paleto Bay...

And I have yet to see a "small jet" landing at the airport by LSC at the Marina....And trust me, for being a guy that is very "observant" of things...I would of noticed it...

OT: I actually Liked the world...To me It felt more alive then any GTA game, especially SA, which was eerily "lonely"...But that's just my opinion...And people who like GTA V can't have opinions...

Like seriously...Today when i went from sandy shore to los santos (more precisely to my apartment) with a super car. I was a little tired, I couldn't reach it fast, it took me like 5 min and it felt like 1 hour. I was thinking " dahell it's far away"

Haters always trying to find something to hate gta v, grow up people.

Well GTA IV is superly scripted, more than V. As I already said I crashed into this four door sedan and the woman went flying out but she landed on the hood got up walked a little bit and got back into the vehicle.

I crashed the small corner of this vehicle and suddenly everyone drops their objects and look at me with that souless and unanimated stare, atleast in V they all have different reactions and animations to make it believable.

[email protected]

Leaving the engine on was always a feature in everysingle GTA, turning it off is a different thing. Whenever you got out of your vehicle you always left your engine on, however what people is describing is turning it off. There is a reason why when we get out of your vehicles while not on combat is because the AI tends to steal your vehicle for being careles most of the time.

You want to take a snapmatic of you and your cheetah and this random teenager takes off in it, you just wasted half a million.

Hey at least the peds in GTA IV will actually react to injury, fight other peds, grab onto the door handle of their stolen car etc. The peds in GTA V get killed by one punch, don't react to any sort of injury and in general are just pussies.

If Rockstar Games had a dick, Blood would be constantly sucking or riding it.. If GTA games had a dick, to be more precise. No f*cking way Red Dead Redemption was GTA cowboy, shut tha f*ck up! Why the hell would i need boats in this game? There is nothing in the water.. Dont forget gta V had invisible walls at the end of ocean, where you sink or crash.. no game had better random events like rdr, that can be triggered anywhere in the map.. In V there is only the same sh*t in the same spots with the same dialogue to the three chars.. Stop saying that other games are GTA clones or are copying gta.. For your information, gta didnt started open world genre, or didnt own it.. Great games, but it is just ridiculous to say that other games are gta clones.

Your gta v and overall gta fanboyism is ridiculous, there is absolutely no arguying with you, no way to debate with someone that is absolutely blind and wont hear any other opinions, just spit your even stupid arguments. You are the reason i am almost leaving this forum, i just cant stand seeing your ridiculous posts anymore. Everytime i see your name on top of a post, i see sh*t coming next, and prepare myself tp a storm of nonsense gta dickriding and rockstar cocksucking.
