$3.5 million in 3.5 minutes [a perspective]

Sorry, but like when the game first came online, we all had to earn our way up the ranks. I had an Adder and an Entity, as well as the $300,000 apartment long before the Gifting Gangs made their way onto the scene. How'd I get it? I bore down on racing, missions, and survivals. I saved every in-game dime and paid it out to enjoy those items, for myself.

So, if you had a friend that just started the game, he should set himself up. Why should he receive a charitable donation from another player? Sure, I get your point about sharing your money, but isn't that where the whole Gifting Gala of 2013 stemmed from... a friend setting up his friend with a couple of million to, y'know, get started? We all see where that mess went.

Just saying. ;)

There are ways to get millions very cleanly - like grinding Coveted and RR. If I have extra money I SHOULD be able to dispose of them as I see fit. As I said, I don`t give a sh*t about why I cannot, like cheaters, which exist only because Rockstar`s incompetence, or cash cards.

Another case: Tomorrow I decide to end this game for good - so I sell all my vehicles - all 20 of them. I own 2 Roosevelts, one Z-Type, one Entity and one Turismo R among others, but those are the most expensive. Now, I can`t donate ANY of my money to the first person I see online. And, as many reasons one can find, they are irrelevant - it`s MY stuff, which makes it MY money, MINE to dispose as I alone see fit.

On a side note, both Coveted and Rooftop Rumble don't show up in my Jobs list. It's a bummer because I want to try them both, but have no access to them. I resort to Potshot for my $10500 / 1430RP fix.

As for the word "should," I have to agree with you. I think Rockstar just doesn't like players getting easy money, which is why the cops are so aggressive. They force you to dump yourself into a Quick Race to avoid being shot on sight, in my opinion. Grrr. ;)

Last I checked on my main, I had both - 1 week ago or so. No reason as to why I shouldn`t have them now. My secondary is only lvl 9, so she can`t see them yet :)

As for 3 stars, just run underground under that bridge - you know - the one you used for getaway in SP.

grand theft spaghetti

i get the whole its my money and i'll buy what i want...

but players shouldnt buy into this micro-transaction bs.

like you said, its grind sh*tty missions for hours or pay to win.

it doesnt make the game any better. it just makes more money for the share holders.

i feel bad for you young kids. not knowing what its like to play a game with extra characters, costumes and levels that used to be included as free unlocks for playing the game. now each one of those is its own dlc.

I had 3 million...but now I'm down to $670,000 cause of buying the Roosevelt, Jester, Alpha, Turismo and then every weapon...every attachment for every weapon and clothing and all accessories for two characters.

I'm building my fortune back up in anticipation of the next DLC/update.

If they start hammering us with content with no way to rebuild our wealth in anticipation...I'll cosign on the CCC or, "cash card conspiracy"...as of now...I'm still not getting the fuss.

And no, I plan to never buy any.

Well, at least glitching and cash cards have something in common: people find the need to go on forums and justify why they glitched/bought a card.

SaturdayNight

In real life, bills are paid, food is on the table, and gas is in the tank. I unexpectedly sold two extra units the other day, so I found myself with $50 bucks to spend on a new game. I went to the local Gamestop to see what they had, but nothing stood out.

So, instead, I decided to spend it on a Whale Shark card: $3.5 million.

With no concern of being chastised, banned, or having money stripped away by Rockstar, I feel as free as I did during the Great Gifting Gala of 2013.

I think if you understand that this was Rockstar's plan in the first place, you start to understand it and move in with the idea to customize your own experience.

We have two choices to earn money: Pay (takes minutes) or Play (grind for hour/days). I chose the easy, Pay route.

Cuz in the end, life is too short, and since I love the game, I'm willing to let go of a few extra bucks to support my entertainment.

I'm pretty happy. Are you?

The way I see it you're helping the cause and helping each of us as well. You help fund GTA Online, we see the benefits from updates. Thank you for your contribution and I might get a cash card as well some day just have to find one that fits me because I don't know of any of the current cards that fit my liking.

I don't mind buddy as long as your not bragging about it, your technically paying for my free dlc and increasing potential funds for gta 6. I'm far too jewish to be spending money on cash cards, it's not that I cant afford it but the principle.

I'm starting to like the concept of cash cards.

You kids pay for cash cards to support the continued release of free DLC, and I get that DLC for free.

I'm impressed by the (mostly) rational posts in this thread, I avoided it at first because I assumed it would devolve to a flame war within the first 5 posts.

As many have said, cash cards fund DLC for the rest of us who don't buy in. What motivation would Rockstar have to continually troubleshoot bugs, add new missions, etc. if there was no possible profit for them? I like this new model better than the old days when a developer would release a game and then be done with it, moving on without another thought. GTA Online will probably be around for a long time because of cash cards whereas in the old days there would be no reason to still play after hitting level 120.

You are one of the people that is helping to destroy the gaming industry. Everything is all about releasing a half finished bug riddled game these days and then selling the other half through DLC and microtransactions. Sheeple like you are why this nasty trend is never going away and now I don't even have any desire to get a next gen console because all the games have been ruined. So thanks for that and buying your stupid shark cards. Btw I can glitch like 125k profit every 6-7 minutes if I really wanted to. Having real world disposable income has nothing to do with it, why pay for something that is and should be free? If you can't see that Rock star's main goal with every subsequent patch is to make the game less fun unless you shell out for shark cards, then you are blind.

Complains that Micro-Transactions are destroying the gaming industry. Boasts that he glitches games causing updates to prolong further development process.

Don't bring logic into the equation. You're ruining a perfectly "good" internet argument.

OH yea, I really care about the prolonged development of this weak azz online mode. Honestly GTA IV online was way more fun and that game came out like 8 years? ago right at the beginning of a console cycle.

I think people are making too big of a deal out of the shark cards. They dont really give any advantage, and are almost completely just there for people who just have money and dont feel like grinding. Who cares if they want to spend 20 dollars or whatever to free up time on the game? Sheesh

Then nothing is stopping you from going to the GTA:IV side of GTA:F and playing GTA:IV.

Exactly. When World of Tanks came out for the 360 i thought i wouldn't need to buy gold since literally everything is there for the earning, but once i got to Tier 4 and saw how much XP i needed to get to the next level, in order to keep my job and be competitive, i needed to break down and buy gold. Spent 40 bucks on a game that only been out for 2 days and enjoyed every bit of it.

You know who else is making too big a deal out of shark cards? People who make threads simply to tell people that they bought a shark card and expect pat on the back and high fives in response. As if the entire future of GTA:O was hinging on your contribution.

WoT is a free game, though. I can download it from their site for free. They need the money, more or less. And you can buy gold ammo with credits now. Also, the premium will make pretty much all your tiers generate profit (even 10), IF you`re not an idiot and die without firing a shot. Speaking of the PC version. Also, unless I`m missing something, gold won`t buy you XP, only cash. Sure, it can buy you free xp, but that is a very expensive business above tier 7. And since you spend the time to get said XP anyway, might as well play your actual tier 7+ and get normal XP.

GTA 5, however, sold for premium price = 60 bucks. Not exactly the same story.

[EDIT] Just for clarity: I am on your side, but I don`t think WoT applies here, since it doesn`t have a base price. That game is literally free. So, while it is implied that it would try and make money (there was a time when gold ammo was exclusive for gold and not credits - for a perfectly infuriating pay 2 win crap), this game (GTA) already made its money from initial sales.

We have three choices to earn money: Pay (takes minutes), Play (grind for hour/days), or Glitch (spend a few minutes of your time to get the same effect as a Shark Card for free). I chose the easy, but foolish, Pay route.

Fixed.

Of course it's your money OP, and you can spend it as you wish, but as long as people keep spending money on microtransactions to get ahead in game, they will never go away.

Are you actually serious? Do you even read the utter crap you type? Your seriously going to criticise anybody for buying cash cards to "get ahead in the game" when you spend every moment of your game time cheating to "get ahead in the game"

Idiot

Anyway...Cool for you OP. Enjoy that cash. If i didnt have a couple million and 10 fully modded cars worth about another million in total on my rarely used character i might even consider it myself. I just have no need. Ignore the obvoius forum trolls. They are too busy trying to break the game to see the benefit.

I'm not criticizing the fact that he is using something to get ahead, I'm criticizing his decision to use his money to drive the microtransactions business forward even more.

I couldn't care less what people do with their game or with their money, but when it comes to microtransactions, I think that supporting them is the wrong decision, both because they are disgusting, and because he could just spend a few moments of his time doing a money glitch and get it all for free.

When cash cards were first officially released, I spent $100 on cash cards. I netted myself 6,250,000. Was it worth it? Not really; only because of the gifted money glitch. Do I regret buying the cash cards? No way! I supported a product that I enjoy using. Would I ever do it again? Maybe.

INB4 cash cards are a conspiracy to help fund a new 9/11. Get lost -_-

I can make a million every four hours with the coveted playlist, granted though not ideal, I dont really mind. I never sit for that long and play earning I dont spend much and dont make much but I have the turismo and new vestra, HAD the Roosevelt but sold for vestra, good trade imo, and I am back up to just under 1 mil... fact is theres two ways to play this game, earn real GTA $ by staying in lobbies and doing missions, or wasting all your money playing in freemode. I think people overlook the fact the main game is doing these lobbies, missions, dms, races etc. To get cash. To date I have not spent a single penny more than the inital cost of the game, and I don't really plan to because I have been able to buy and enjoy all the new content whilst bouncing between 500k and 1 mi gta $ that I have earned legit. Fair enough I sold my infernus too, but an hour of coveted and I'll be able to get it back if I want to. (Which I do as I love the infernus)
