Also could you imagine if you took that money and maybe....feed a homeless man with it? Maybe gave it to someone on the street. Donated it to a charity.

If everyone DIDN'T buy cash cards and gave it to a cancer Research Institute I bet we could cure cancer.

Money won't cure cancer.

Scientists working their ass off for months and months to make an inch of progress, will eventually lead to a cure for cancer.

If all the money in the world was given to cancer charity right NOW, in 6 months time nothing would be different.

I think sometimes people overvalue money, then again other times, it is undervalued. Overvalued most often though.

Edit: Sorry if I come off like anything, just some close family has suffered cancer, and all his money didn't do squat for him.

The Real SpitKing

In real life, bills are paid, food is on the table, and gas is in the tank. I unexpectedly sold two extra units the other day, so I found myself with $50 bucks to spend on a new game. I went to the local Gamestop to see what they had, but nothing stood out.

So, instead, I decided to spend it on a Whale Shark card: $3.5 million.

With no concern of being chastised, banned, or having money stripped away by Rockstar, I feel as free as I did during the Great Gifting Gala of 2013.

I think if you understand that this was Rockstar's plan in the first place, you start to understand it and move in with the idea to customize your own experience.

We have two choices to earn money: Pay (takes minutes) or Play (grind for hour/days). I chose the easy, Pay route.

Cuz in the end, life is too short, and since I love the game, I'm willing to let go of a few extra bucks to support my entertainment.

I'm pretty happy. Are you?

I wish more people saw it this way considering it was exactly what R* intent was when they came up with the cash card plan.

+1 for OP

Claims life is too short, but wastes time on a video game and money for cyber money, instead of putting it towards a holiday to live life before death. Cool.

Seeing as how I just took February vacation with my family in Cancun, I'll assume you know nothing of what being a responsible adult is actually about. Cool.

Miss Malevolent

I just used the cash I earned in the game. I bought all clothes, masks, accessories, all weapons and attachments, for both my male and female characters. The male got the Albany and the Grotto, and the female got the Dinka.

Cancer research? I'm sorry if you disagree with me but they have been "researching" cancer forever now. No amount of coin in paper in the world is going to magically make the cure to cancer rise out of thin air. Either there is a cure for cancer that they are withholding from the public, or there isn't one and may never be one...

We cured polio this way. Millions of dollars were invested into it and it was cured within a few years. For everything on this Earth there is something to fix it. Wheter you have a disease, theres a plant or cure to help you. For everything bad there is good.

Also cannabis has shown some signs in stopping cancer cell growth. We might be close and only need a few more dollars or cash cards.

This is the problem.... people like you don't use your brain. You only see the small picture. And it's people like you that think these Shark Cards are ok (or even a good thing).

The cards are bad, whether you ignore them or not. They affect everything R* does with this game.

"R* does not force us to buy Shark Cards" That is the argument of a moron.

R* only fixes glitches (unless they are game breaking) that have to do with in-game money. Instead of making the game fun, they only focus on making sure the game is compatible with enticing people to buy Shark Cards.

I don't think I have to continue further.... if you're (whoever reads this) smart, then you agree and know what I'm talking about. If you (whoever) still think that Shark Cards are ok, that they aren't hurting anybody and R* isn't forcing us to buy them..... than there is no hope for you.

I agree with nipper. Btw, have you heard of Terry Fox?? He had (I think) Bone marrow cancer and raised 1 million dollars to cure cancer by running around Canada on an artificial leg. I ran for 5 km, got dehydrated after running that much.

Imagine his state.

Rest in peace, Terry Fox.

You can do whatever you want, but know that you're the one responsible for a culture of corporations pushing to make you buy sh*t right away.

Can't really fault you I guess... if I wanted something quick and easy with no effort, I might do the same thing. But I like to play games and work for what I get. Even if that work involves me getting gifted FREE money.

First off, I am not being defensive here, but in the interest of positive discussion, I'll indulge a reply.

It's no secret that I'm a cancer survivor, myself. I'm fine now, but just two years ago it was a different story. While I work hard at my job to earn my wages, I also spend quality time with my friends and family, who also enjoy spending time with video games.

But in my work, I donate my product to charity every year. I just donated to a Multiple Sclerosis benefit, which I'd normally charge thousands of dollars for. Not to mention that I am the founder of a small fundraising effort in which my team participates in a local walk to raise money. Last year's walk yielded over $6,000 for research funds, which DO help, despite the allusion that "they've been researching cancer forever."

In a small note, last week I lost a close member of my team to cancer. It was long, and painful for him, his wife, and his children. I brought them food and spent time with them while he was getting treatments. His battle was lost, which for me, was a powerful reminder that yes – life is very short and I'm not going to sit here and whine because I lost my Tommygun or that Rockstar is unfair. I'm here to promote a positive, creative spirit on these forums. That's all.

My original post was to offer a different, upbeat perspective to those who seem to misunderstand the intent of the people who made this product. That's all.

TL;DR - I paid for my Cupid mask and I raised thousands for charity. I'm living life to my expectations, son. ;)

Those scientists need to get payed somehow. Money will help with researh not cure cancer i agree.

 • $500 could fund one cancer information nurse for four days. Our experienced cancer information nurses provide a confidential service for anyone with concerns about cancer.
 • $1,000 could cover the basic costs for ten women to take part in a clinical trial to improve survival for post-menopausal women with early-stage breast cance

annddd 80 bucks can get you a quarter to stop the growth or those cells haha

That's the way I *was* playing, but I was really interested in checking out the new Turismo, and there's no way that was going to happen.

Ironically, I didn't even buy the Turismo. Instead, I bought ammo and still have $3.48 million left over.

I still play for fun, except now, I really don't have to worry about money. ;)

Hey...to each their own....as long as you have fun, that's all that matters!

Pretty much this. I don't like cash cards, but I do enjoy playing with happy people having fun. I don't give a f*ck if you bought a Cash Card or not, because in the end its all about our gameplay experience.

Judging what other people do with their own. Classy.

I'm not the one talking about life being too short. I deal with my life slipping through my fingers and continue to play games. :) At least invest money in to more important things other than pixel cars that will either vanish by themselves, or be deleted by the owner to make room for future rubbish added to the game.

Microtransaction are ruining the gaming industry. I can remember a time when developers included everything that had been developed upon the release of a game. Now content is knowingly withheld and strung out over a long course of time for the sake of microtransactions. Case in point: GTAO. Why would they release substantial content at one time when they can string it out over months and months, making money all the while?

Picked up an Xbox one last week and it's the same sh*t with Next Gen, probably even worse. Forza comes with a minimum amount of cars and tracks and you are expected to pay money for additional cars and tracks, which probably should have been included at launch. Also, you don't pay a one-time fee that unlocks all cars and tracks--oh, no. You pay for packages that have 8 sh*tty cars for every nice one, just so that you have to buy them all.

This is the result of corporate greed infecting the gaming industry and it's only going to get worse. By supporting microtransactions, consumers are implicitly supporting these practices and corporations will continue along this course. The only thing that will stop this trend is a wholesale refusal on the part of gamers to participate in this pay-to-play strategy.

Or you could have glitched the money in a matter of minutes, then used the $50 on something else. Maybe tickets to a movie, concert, hell maybe went to a bar with a friend.

Life was short in the past too, with various DLC`s and easy ways. A few years later, we got Battlefield 4 with it`s Premium that exceeds the base game price still locking up consoles months after launch and GTA 5 which is happily selling money, having no problem "forgetting" to put in the game what is commonly heralded, in their own words, as the best way to make money.

Sky is the limit, I`d guess. I`d rather cut my dick than buy cash cards, though.
