$3.5 million in 3.5 minutes [a perspective]

<a perspective>

In real life, bills are paid, food is on the table, and gas is in the tank. I unexpectedly sold two extra units the other day, so I found myself with $50 bucks to spend on a new game. I went to the local Gamestop to see what they had, but nothing stood out.

So, instead, I decided to spend it on a Whale Shark card: $3.5 million.

With no concern of being chastised, banned, or having money stripped away by Rockstar, I feel as free as I did during the Great Gifting Gala of 2013.

I think if you understand that this was Rockstar's plan in the first place, you start to understand it and move in with the idea to customize your own experience.

We have two choices to earn money: Pay (takes minutes) or Play (grind for hour/days). I chose the easy, Pay route.

Cuz in the end, life is too short, and since I love the game, I'm willing to let go of a few extra bucks to support my entertainment.

I'm pretty happy. Are you?

I pretty much did the same thing for the Roosevelt although it was only the £5.99 card. I have disposable income, why not spend it on a game I've spent like 180 hours on? Its not like you're buying RP, just shortcutting buying some stuff you want.

Generally I wouldn't buy stuff like this but because I spend so much time on it, it was worth it. Don't know if I will do it again though.

Nice one, it's your money so upto you what you do with it. I just hope this thread gets the respect it deserves and some civilized replies. I will probably buy a cash card or two in the next week or so.

It's your cash to do with as you please. Personally, if I didn't earn the money in the game by playing it It's likely that I won't appreciate the items I buy in the game. I enjoy the challenge.

Hey...to each their own....as long as you have fun, that's all that matters!

Not the typical response I was expecting, so thanks. That's exactly how I made the decision, which I should add, I lingered on. "Buy a cash card? No way!" I thought a few weeks ago. But, looking at it the way leonsilavant stated above, "why not spend it on a game I've spent like 180 hours on?" I felt the same way.

Funny, because I recently downloaded Dead Island, for free, and within the first hour of playing I hated it. I'd almost bought that game when it came out for $59.99 and I'm so glad I didn't.

So, yeah, money spent on quality entertainment is justification enough for this old man! ;)

I also thought the same but considering most of the people I run into have all the supercars in their garage and a crap tonne of money, it kinda made me....not jealous but left out as I didn't want to glitch money. The only glitch i've ever done in the game is getting franklin's buffalo in online.

I mean everyone has their way to play, don't see anything wrong with paying real £ if you're not an addict

personally I wouldn't go above £10

Claims life is too short, but wastes time on a video game and money for cyber money, instead of putting it towards a holiday to live life before death. Cool.

Hey OP. Nice post and topic by the way. I did something similar today, I purchased am extra $500k to help me get the new plane. (Love it, feels like a little spy plane) The way I see it is that I've spent a lot of time in the game, I obviously enjoy it and see value in spending extra money occasionally to increase my enjoyment. I feel as though I've got more than £45.99 of enjoyment out of the game so far and I know I'll continue to do so. Great topic, waiting for the abuse though.

I agree entirely, and I also think it's true in real life - the kid in college who worked a part time job to grind for an old motorcycle probably gets more pleasure out of it than his spoiled classmate does in the new car daddy bought him!

However to contradict myself I think if you're cash rich and time poor why not spend a few quid to level the playing field a bit?

Seems like the consensus on here is you can be good at the game and suck in real life, or vice versa. I don't follow that logic!

I don't like micro transactions full stop. Especially when there is a limited amount of time to get stuff I.E. The valentines update.

As long as you don't feel pressured to buy them, like someone else said - it's your money and your playing experience.

I would of probably bought something else with the extra cash but hey each to his own is correct.

Solid Scorpion

You earned it, spend it as you wish. Fk what others think.

If you're anything like me, you'd probably blow extra/spare cash on a load of other useless crap anyways.

Most my extra income gets pissed up against a wall or on more cigarette's/fuel.

Waste of cash if you look at it realistically but like I said, Fk what others think :)

Yesterday, I made 1Million dollars. It only took about 3-4 hours. Just before the DLC came out, I made up to 5Million dollars.Money isn't hard to get and I don't know why people complain about it anymore. Atleast it isn't like that one update where they had the prices cut and everything was so low price and you couldn't make money for sh*t...

Cash Cards? What? How could you? Seriously though, I've bought them too in order to afford the Entity a couple months ago. The idea of grinding missions was just becoming ridiculous and the allure of ready cash became irresistible. So yeah, to each their own, I would never let pride stop me from buying them again.

I was gifted billions before they attempted to stabilize everything and I bought everything I wanted. Boughton 10 adders before the reset and now I'm sitting on 8 mill with nothing to buy. Still playing and still enjoying the game. I won't ever buy a shark card to such an unstable and unreliable game. They don't even own their own clouds servers lol!

We have three choices to earn money: Pay (takes minutes), Play (grind for hour/days), or Glitch (spend a few minutes of your time to get the same effect as a Shark Card for free). I chose the easy, but foolish, Pay route.

Fixed.

Of course it's your money OP, and you can spend it as you wish, but as long as people keep spending money on microtransactions to get ahead in game, they will never go away.

Snake Without a Tongue

It's your money. I'm cool with R*'s approach in that no one is forced to buy cash cards to play the game, and everyone in the community probably benefits from those that do. But it can be a slippery slope, eg literally every other game that uses microtransactions.
