Charachters live on after you leave lobbys?

So weird thing happened to me yesterday. Maybe new probably not.

I was playing with a crew member/friend and i was in the street with my car and he was down an alley.

So my friend leaves the session.

Then I see him walk out of the alley, walks up to me says hey nice ride , jumps in my car and steals it!!

I try to call the mechanic and he says my car is not empty.

Meanwhile im seeing my car blip moving. I had to chase him down, kill him and steal my car back.

 

Just thought this was weird and funny as hell.

I always kill people after they go offline.

 

Just to prevent them from committing random crimes though.

I had one of my friends run me over after they left the lobby

Haha very cool, i knew they walked off but wasn't aware they would do that

The gta online character was replaced by a random npc character and usually despawns right after being killed.

This has happend to me and an old crew mate a few times. But only if he lost connection. His guy would just start walking down the street. Freaked me out the first time i saw it.

One of my crew members logged out and I watched his character take off and just start running up the side of Mt. Chiliad. I watched him for about 5 minutes before I got board and moved on to other things.

My character did the same thing to my buddy. Drove from the prison to grapeseed where he randomly abandoned my buddys car.
