Mechanic slacking

Anyone else's mechanic give up delivering your vehicles online?

 

Instead of driving them to you they just get teleported round the corner from where you are... often in stupid places.

I prefer the old way.

I very much prefered the old way and I rarely had any issues with him not showing up or driving it around after going past you. They key back then and with the new method is camera position, he would always deliver and it always spawns out of your view. Lets take rooftop rumble for example assuming you didnt have a car out, call your mechanic/request PV while looking away from the parking garage. Stay looking away and it will spawn close to the mission location as apposed to behind you further away from the mission area.

 

This method works very well once you get used to where to point your camera to get the wanted location. Sometimes in the city though if you are standing near the corner of a building that you cant see around it will spawn ahead of you just around the corner out of your vision.

I agree. I liked it when he showed up... especially so I could whip his ass after one of the times when he called me back and refused to bring my car.

 

he left the car in odd places too though... like I would be on an overpass over the L.S. river, call him for a car, and he would drop it off in the bottom of the drainage channel..

 

I had some epic escapes too from gun battles where I was hunkered down in a hole taking heavy fire from gunmen in elevated locations, called the mechanic to bring me my whip, and as he got out I'd sprint for the car, dive in, and escape under a hail of bullets.... now the car just pops in out of nowhere, like a video game...

Me too. Just seems abit cheap now.

 

Might as well destroy the emersion and select them from your phone and have them appear like the cheats.

In all honesty, that is how I wish it was always.

 

If the mechanic is in and he delivers them to you and it's all realistic looking (hmm, realistic isn't the right word. Consistent feels better) then fair enough, I liked that system, they made an effort to make something a bit more consistent with the world around it.

 

How it is now though, it's almost as if the mechanic delivers it then runs off and let you find it yourself, as opposed to bringing it to you, inconsistent.

 

The "cheat" way is inbetween, you get the car to your location, without an NPC. If we have to lose the NPC, I would much rather have it spawn up in front of me immediately as I select it from the phone.

 

None of that will happen.

It would make things quicker and easier for sure.

 

I for one liked the fact he sometimes just drive off in my car though, it's the stupid things like that that make GTA funny for me.

 

I like the way you avoid 'realistic' haha. Better than having to go back to your apartment every time you want to change your vehicle

As bad of a job as he did, I miss the guy. He was amusing and added even more to the unpredictable shenanigans.

As long as the vehicle gets to me fairly quickly, is all that I am bothered about to be honest.
