lol i've been playing this game for months now both in terms of single player and online and i JUST noticed something cool a few moments ago. if you quickly tap the R2 button when firing a pistol instead of holding it down, you'll shoot it a little bit faster. not much, seems like a small 10 percent increase in speed. only works with pistols though since they're the only semi-automatic weapons in the game. this may not sound like much but it'll help in some combat situations. so the next time you get shot in the head and start bleeding to death, you will start thinking of me and my wonderul epiphany. you're welcome :D

I also tap on the trigger button when using pistols cos it's an addiction I used to have back when I was playing FPS games

How did you not notice that? Who holds the trigger down on a pistol?

reminds me of back when call of duty was good, in world at war, you could unload a pistol in a split second lol

lol you'd be surprised how many people wouldn't know. after all, gta 5 appeals to the casual gamer. it isn't programmed like fps games where you MUST keep tapping a pistol to shoot. besides, just holding down the button is lazier, and thus, easier.

Is this true for the new pistol?. I only carry the AP at the moment. Throw the others away.

I wouldn't mind a semi auto rifle. In fact, I'd love one, and that is something that they should make DLC now that I think about it.

But pistols are boring.

Wow.

Here's another one for you, guidance for real life, which you have probably also missed - if you lift the lid on a toilet seat you'll find that there's cool space underneath it with a little bit of water. And if you look hard enough you'll see that there's also a little button that gets rid of whatever you deposited in there!! Makes it easier on your mum - she won't have to clean up after you every time now!

You're welcome.

Yes,they should add those rifles and make it with or without a scope or a burst fire mode available with 4-5 hit kill.

Welcome to non-spray-and-pray style of shooting which many of us have been employing for months :D

Seriously though, I, personally, never hold down the trigger on any of the guns (except perhaps heavy machine and minigun). I fire in short bursts and flick left stick to line up headshots. This is why 60% of my total kills are headshots.

Could not disagree more on pistols. Both Combat Pistol and the new Heavy Pistol are pure headshot machines (if used properly, that is). I can complete most parts of survivals with those, and the headshot meter (as well as the tiny amount of ammo used) is just glorious.

Agreed. Love the heavy pistol after only a day of using it...

Shame the mechanics aren't as deep as GTAIV in this regard tbh.

In IV if you half held LT to aim, there was a point at which if you held it nicely, the reticule shrunk up slightly to indicate that you are in a steady position and pretty much every shot you fire will be on target.

GTAV on the other hand, spray and pray, hope for the best.

I always see a random bullet come sideways out of my carbine's barrel and tear off to the left somewhere, nowhere near where I am aiming, nor where the gun is pointing, kinda like in the move Wanted, you can curve bullets.

Pistols also have the ability to fire through walls. This ruins gunfights though as it's a total cheat move.

I notice the enemies shooting through objects and vehicles in missions pretty often. It's really annoying.

You can also hold the trigger halfway to hold your gun up in a ready position without firing, allowing you to roll and run. You can also make use of the roll without having your weapon held up at all, but you still need it out. Simply tap the aim button, while walking, running or sprinting, and quickly press the roll button. Your gun will also be in a ready, firing position immediately after the roll, so I'm sure some use could be made of that, too.

Who the heck holds down the trigger on a pistol?

Like even if you don't play FPS games surely you realise that you would have to repeatedly pull the trigger on a real semi automatic pistol.

The only reason I knew holding it was possible is from accidentally equipping the regular pistol instead of AP pistol, but I've still never purposefully fired like that.

It's the O button that reloads not Triangle also when you are shooting more then on enemy at a time instead of letting go of the aim button to aim at the next target just hit the joystick to the right or left and it'll lock onto the next target without needing to stop to reaim

Coming from a FPS game (MW2) I have a habit of reloading my gun obsessively. Shoot half the mag, reload. Shoot one bullet, reload. Taking cover, reload. Running, reload.

lmmfao..

think it's always been like that, GTA IV you hold down the trigger button you get more sporadic results, versus tapping it and getting more accurate results.
