Have you met random friendly players?

Mythological

Hey GTAFORUMS Users! Anyways I wanted to ask if anyone has found friendly players that aren't or at least weren't your friends at the time. I was heading towards the VINEWOOD sign to look for an overlook of the city (it's fun watching players O_O) when I was at The Lost MC trailer park, anyways there was a player there so I drove all the way around to the far end of the trailer park and it FINALLY showed up that there was a gang war there #lag, anyways the player was friendly even after the gang war. (:

I don't find them that rare. Pull up (or they pull up) and look for that window smash or arm coming out before you decide if the fella's gunna be hostile or not.

Obviously be ready to tear away in the case that you see a sign of hostility.

A good indicator that the person you just ran into is not nice is if they instantly crash into your car.

I'll be friendly with anyone as long as they don't keep on crashing into or try to blow me up/shoot me, if they do then it's on

Yes I did! Someone got killed at the military base and spawned outside. I was in a buzzard and landed next to him, (without getting the usual pick off), picked him up, and gave him a ride to the airport. In fact I was quitting the game so I just gave him the heli.

I have, but they're rare. Most of them have become my long term PSN friends.

I try and approach others friendly, but they usually kill me when I do. So I guess I'm one of those rare ones. My friend argued that he'd "rather shoot first, than be killed by having them shoot first", but I reason the other way around. I mean, what does it matter if they kill me once? They get first kill, but then I'll chase them and kill them a couple times for payback.

If everyone shoots at first sight, then eventually the whole place is just a big DM. GTA should be more than just a DM. The looove has got to start somewhere!

On the other hand, sometimes I just go on a rampage (alone, or with friends) and kill everybody. So I'm kind of a double nature I guess.

I have in free roam, but they are EXTREMELY rare. Most of the randoms I've added as friends are players I met while playing a mission and jumping from mission to mission from the voting screen with the same group.

I did meet an exceptionally nice guy once. Two of my friends and I were in a car without tires, this guy starts chasing us and we start chucking grenades. In the midst of the chaos and explosions, I hear him honk his horn. Honking the horn was a friendly sign in IV (from what I remember), so I suggest we get out of our car and join him. We stop and he stops behind us. My two friends were wary but he was nice considering we attempted to kill him 30 seconds ago.

I meet friendly people all the time on Xbox. I mean this is what we have mics for, I've had a few people roll up on me and honk, and I may be cautious, but I always have my mic in and at times I'll just talk to myself, so there is always someone who will join in and start talking to me. I've met a few great people. I don't get how it's all that rare. COMMUNICATION is key.

Every time I enter a new session, I go through my three phases of being social.

Phase One - Listening

I listen to the people on voice chat for a while. If they aren't a (annoying) squeaker, and they sound like fun people, I'll eventually move on to phase two.

Phase Two - Stalking

I look at the list of players and find exactly which one they are. After I found then, I look for their location on the map and go over there. I follow them around while keeping my distance until I'm confident enough to move to phase three.

Phase Three - "Hi"

After I've gained confidence, I'll drive up to then and salute them so they know I'm not hostile. After playing with then for a while, I will eventually say hello on voice chat.

If said player happens to be female, I'll just skip to phase three. Not being sexist, I just get a long better with girls (cause lol gay).

If they come and shoot me during phase two or phase three, I find a new session and start over again.

Btw, I know I'd make a great stalker. I've even been told that irl by my own mother. :p

They are out there somewhere.

I often get those people that hop in my car for a bit but it's rare that there is a truly friendly person that communicates.

I found that when the new cars came out there were quite a few people going round sounding their horns, just showing off their new set of wheels.

But even in normal open play, I have met some people who are friendly. Once I went after a bounty in my buzzard and there were three other players in the area who I assumed were after the bounty as well. Just after I arrived in the area and loosed off a rocket and missed, someone else got the bounty. I then heard cries of 'don't shoot' from the other players on the ground. They were a bunch of young squeakers, but they meant well and were just doing their own thing. They did not seem to be interested in missions/deathmatches/races etc. they just wanted to play. They wanted me to stay and help them but I wanted to get some $, while they were planning on finding a way to stop the trucks in the highway so they could each get one and form a truck convoy. I said goodbye and went on my way. Nice kids! I received several friend requests from them later but I really don't want to hang around with the under 10s at my age.

More often than you might think. Probably because I never attack any on sight unless they have a bounty or shot at me first. I always give people the benefit of the doubt. I try to use honking my horn as a universal "peace" sign. A lot of people will honk back and still try to kill you though. Most of the time I can react fast enough to kill them first but sometimes I drop my guard if they're acting nice for a while.

People really don't realize how fun this game would be if everyone wasn't so hostile, it sucks but the game will without fail always be 80% assholes with something to prove.

The first week was very broish like that. Lots of bros riding around in cars fighting over the radio station and doing bro sh*t together, just f*cking around not trying to murder everyone they encountered. After the third week though people started shooting as soon as you drive near them cause the assholes had all made everyone terrified of other players even getting near them.

Like I said though, you can't have freemode without dicks who want to kill people and then not accept deathmatch challenges and do pussy sh*t as soon as the odds aren't in their favor, that's just online gaming in general but it's especially true for GTA.

I did loads of missions one saturday morning with a guy called Alvers33 on Xbox Live. He was ace. We finished a mission and spawned back in free-roam, turns out we both had bounties on our heads. He pummelled me in the back with his assault rifle. Then, when I re-spawned, he ran over to me, stood right in front me and let me cap him in the skull.

At that point, I knew he was alright. Alvers33, if you're reading this, you're a good egg.

I can't think of a single occasion.

Yesterday, for the first time in 6 months I went onto GTA 4. Within minutes I was riding around with two random blokes. Mind you, friendly fire was off.

met one last night. I had started coveted by myself, but I did it out of my apartment so I didn't have a car when it was over. I had just deposited my money in the bank & was going to steal a car when a guy pulls up in a red infernus & offers a ride. He goes to sandy shores airport so I grab & helicopter & go back to LS

The problem is that most people re actually nice, but it's the fear that you will be gunned down so an itchy trigger fingers is common

if u were on psn i'll add you.

girls tend to be friendly cus they don't know how to drive and always ask for a ride in my swag mobile

truth is that i do have at least 10 girls in the friends list and other 40 guys ahaha 30 crew members and probably 5 friends irl in there aswell

so that said. i do play a lot with 'friends' and when they are not i just go funny on the mic and creep the sh*t out of them until they understand im just playing for fun.

there's always some punkass who wants to say is so good and this and that normally they meet my auto shotgun cus i always go off radar and get close to them to blast theyr heads off and keep killing them until they leave.

in other way im not hostile in any way because the only thing u will be able to do when u see me is try to kill me because i just passed by you at 300km/h blasting my horn just to say hello...byeeeeeeee

Once I was parachuting solo & some dude randomly joined my room as I was packin my bong. We ended up doing 6+ more skydives before adding eachother, now he's a solid mission/survival invitee.

Another time I spawned at random next to some guy in a solo session. We ended up bare knuckle boxing for like 10 mins before hoping in a car, getting 4 stars, causing this huge explosion on the highway, then doing a bunch of other wild sh*t including hitting the airport.

Then, I met a dude in a survival. Next day were rampaging cops near the desert airstrip. I die, next I know hes on the train. I cop a plane, fly low over him, then after ascending vertically for like 5-7 secs I parachute straight onto his train car before it goes into the tunnel. He saluted me & we been good friends since. Those are my best 3 stories
