Is Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer broken?

Has anyone else been having trouble recently playing RDR online? I play on both systems and lately when I try and go into mutiplayer on the 360 version the game just stays on the free roam loading screen. If I happen to actually be able to get into free roam, strange sh*t has been happening like certain weapons not being present when you draw them (avatar holding empty space) and one session I was in had a lot of players listed but no-one on my map in free roam. PS3 version is also having the same "no weapon" issue.

Has anyone else who still plays RDR been having these issues?

Don't bother with RDR. Some guy hacked the servers a while ago. He even shown us a video of him doing it until youtube took it down.

Sadly the game is dead.

Supposedly someone glitched out the servers. It's pretty messed up. You can't get into sessions, and when you do, they are severely messed up. I posted a video of the initial experience and then I edited up a fun little video documenting some of the odditiies.

It's been about a month or so now I think and rockstar has yet to fix it. They posted updates saying they are "looking into it", but the consensus amongst the community is that it is pretty much dead. I mean, it was full of modders anyway, and despite being less active than it was back in the day, the game is some how buggier and glitchier than it ever was before, even before this whole server thing happened. It was full of modders even before so, as well as a ton of glitches that cheaters used regularly. They never patched those either, nor banned the people doing it - many of which were doing it blatantly in every match.

Lol whats the point of bringing back something thats dead. Everyone should know by now that Rockstar is focused on GTA online. They can't spend their time on RDR anymore I'm sorry to tell you. They might fix it, but its only a matter of time when someone comes around and breaks the f*cking game again for their own enjoyment.

That's very creepy and odd. Were you seriously getting random phone calls as you said in the video? how can this happen?!

I bought a used Xbox again when RROD struck around Christmas, got my used system for $25 at a pawnshop.

Needed some work to replace the ejection plastic button, and even after that the door sticks, so I typically have to restart the game if the disc is not engaged, I was planning to do RDR in place of GTA V but they are having a weekend online special right now and I've yet to partake.

On RDR online, haven't heard anything from Rockstar, but I'll be trying it on XBL for the first time in a long time, forgot where I left off, but I think it was already completed on my main profile..

Had this one set up initially, but damn if I didn't forget my log in account since. I had several RROD replacements sadly, and multiple accounts were used to game online, so I think I have at least two still in effect, you might see the above as inactive for some time, when RDR came out, I set it up to reflect my great interest in the game.

It's meant to tie in somewhat to the Western theme of the game. I hope there's word on a followup this year!

I've been a proponent of Rockstar supporting all their online gaming endeavors as long term as humanly possible, so I say naysayers here giving up on PC versions and the online support fail to perceive Rockstar's commitment, they don't have as many trusted staff as they should to handle problems swiftly and pressing issues like keeping PC gamers in the loop, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't if they could.

I have the game on PS3 and tried to play the multiplayer sometime ago. It used to be full, and people played very often. It wasn't hard to get into sessions and play some of the game modes. Now it's a barren wasteland. I tried to get into a session one day. It took nearly 5 minutes to find one. When It did there was only 2 other guys in there, and they were both speaking Spanish lmao.

I tried to find another session but it was taking a long time to do it. I think it's safe to say that RDR's MP is dead to both Rockstar and the majority of players.

Rockstar's too busy working on GTA Online and on their next major title to give 2 sh*ts about a 4 year old game. Which is quite sad considering that some MMOs on PC have been supported by their developers for over a decade so far.

It's been broken for a while, but they did update a month or so ago saying that's it's being worked on, so we just need to wait. With the work going into GTAV and Online it's not surprising it's taking a while to fix.

This sucks. I've been there 2 days ago and couldn't see any player, just their blips on the radar. Also it was lagging and I couldn't see my guns.

I don't think Rockstar North is working on RDR.

Just play singleplayer. That's where all games are best. I wish R* would have the balls get rid of the multiplayer component in all of their future games and focus on singleplayer instead. There's no point in singleplayer and multiplayer in one game. It's either just multiplayer or just singleplayer, that's my point of view and that's what I would do if I'd be the head of a game developer company.

This is f*cked up. I loved playing RDR online when i used to have Live. Hearing about it being completely f*cked up kind of makes me sad. It really saddens me that it's dead now. Oh well, I hope they fix the issue but knowing R* they are more focused on that GTA Online sh*t and will just probably let RDR online die. Hopefully a new RDR game gets announced soon.

EDIT:

Just look at this sh*t, people who do sh*t like this to the game need to be banned.

Lol and you'll see where they have 75% deals on R* games on Xbox currently. I was going to repurchase RDR but I guess not now. Such a shame.

I wouldn't let the ruin MP stop you from buying this great SINGLE PLAYER game. If my disc broke I would still rebuy it. I would even rebuy it for next gen if I could. This is one of the few games I could call a masterpiece.

The latest word from Rockstar about this is that they are working on a title update to fix these problems with RDR's multiplayer. Here's hoping they aren't bullsh*tting us...

Got any proof?

I just don't believe Rockstar is going to do anything for a 4 year old game.
