My Idea For Spoilers

Well my idea was that like the McLaren P1 and other cars like the Porshe 918, for the default spoiler of high end cars like the new Turismo to have a rising spoiler. By this I mean that after you go past a default speed the spoiler rises up. It would look amazing firstly but you could also choose to just keep it up at whatever speed as well.

 

Thoughts?

Then you know nothing of the car. It's BOTH. I don't remember the exact numbers offhand but at about 120 it goes up all the way as a spoiler. At 180ish it drops halfway (to reduce drag). It tilts up as an air-brake depending on your speed.

I dislike spoilers, but that would simply be too cool to pass on. And I can still admire my car when not racing, so I wouldn't mind.

I didn't realize we were referring to real cars, but okay.

You're right, obviously they do. But do you know anybody who drives around where you live doin F1 speeds? Never seen a Civic or Jetta do those speeds myself.

On the autobahn, spoilers help with counteracting the airfoil effect a car has. (which is basically like a plane's wing). Without them, the car will generate more lift and be more dangerous to drive at high speeds. The trade off is lower fuel economy and an increased drag coefficient. Depending on the design, a normal spoiler is designed to aid in stability while a GT wing is design more for downforce most usually for homologation purposes.

I think it's the other way around, the kids are the spoiler haters! The Top Gear / F&F generation

 

Not sure where all this hate comes from, spoilers have been on every race car since the 60's? Same with white letter tires, single nut rims, skirts, lowered fascia's and roll cages

 

If you want a pimped out street car modeled after your favorite pop star fine, leave all the aforementioned on the shelf,

 

let people who race make race cars and for god sake shooting the spoiler off a 911 is like taking the Phoenix off a Trans AM!

I think most cars had this but it was cut. As far as I know the Adder has an actual 3D spoiler inside it, but I can't really remember I'll check the model... And the Surano's defult spoiler(or it's outline) disappears once you install a custom spoiler on it in LS Customs...

 

Anyway if you really want this you will probably have to wait for the PC version. Meanwhile you might wanna try the EPM mod in GTA IV.

 

EDIT:

I've checked the models and no cars have an actual 3D spoiler inside them, however some modders have made them for some like the Turismo R and Adder, this is in GTA IV of course and with the EPM mod.

its actually both.

 

it tilts when you hit the breaks to act as an air brake.

 

but at about 90 mph + it applies downforce.
