How come Brad hasn't rotted yet?

Recommended Posts

The Odyssey

It's been 10 years, you'd think by the events of "Bury the Hatchet" Brad would have turned into nothing but bones, being dead that long. What do you think?

He didn't look to heathly when I played that mission.

The rate of decomposition depends on the environment in which the body lies.

i'm no expert in rotting bodies but it is unrealistic.

Isn't he buried in North Yankton? In that case it is likely the body was frozen and ice can preserve bodies so in that case...

Cold environment of snow and ice would have helped preserve the body (anyone here ever hear about the Iceman?), that's my explanation anyway. The real reason is for storytelling.

Bodies don’t decompose in North Yankton because it is constantly snowing, in which case, no bacteria nor insects start the procedure.

True. Besides if his corpse was just bones it wouldn't have had the same impact on Trevor. It had to still be somewhat recognizable to him.

As other have said, ice is the reason.

A combination of temperature, and artistic license. It might be a teeny bit unrealistic, but it's not entirely unbelievable, the cold environment would certainly slow down the process of decomposition.

Even northern Alaska has summers in the 60s, so I'd have to imagine all of Canada still has a 'summer' of some sort, warm enough to decompose a body after 10 years. Plus, underground can be very warm, so even in the cold months he's insulated to some degree.

Well Ontario is North of North Yankton and summers are unbearable here... then again I'm in the great lakes region meaning it is a lot warmer here than let's say saskatchewan

I'd say strictly for story purposes, most cold places still have summer as others have stated.

Trevor's taking a plane, flying to North Yankton, digging at -20°C to find out what's in Michael's grave... Then, Michael's coming & telling Trevor that « there's nothing there » and it's not worth it... Then... BANG! THERE IT IS! TREVOR OPENS THE GRAVE & BAM!!! A UNINDENTIFIABLE BODY! WHAT A STORY CHANGER!!! TREVOR IS JUST LOOKING AT MICHAEL & IS SCREAMING « SWEAR TO ME THIS ISN'T BRAD, MICHAEL! » & MICHAEL IS SCREAMING BACK « IT'S NOT HIM, I SWEAR BUDDY! » so everything's alright after that.

Come on OP...

Brad's body would've decomposed almost entirely many years before Trevor digs it up.

The better question: Why does Trevor fly west to go to North Yankton?

Maybe he took some kind of detour to avoid radars?

I'm going to jump on the 'cold climate' theory. Also, GTA being a video game and all... I think that plays a big part, too. ;P
