Best Cars For Each Class - Racing

Recommended Posts

Monroe is definitely better than the Z-Type, sold my Z-Type after having it for ages because the Monroe trumped it in every regard bar a tiny bit of top speed. Even on Route 68 there is nearly nothing to separate them with no real handling/braking requirements.

Those hating on the Carbonizarre and saying they beat it with Sultans - really?? I don't see it. I raced a lot this weekend and the Carb was unbeatable including by some good real-life mates with better skills than I in their Sultans and Coquettes, both on fast tracks and even the drift ones. The handling is near perfect on it, probably the best in the game - it's not slippery as some say, it's very grippy, perfectly balanced and can be controlled with the brake and throttle completely unlike most others which either under/oversteer all the time. It shoots out of corners like a rocket without spinning round in circles if you have reasonable ability. Most players seem to prefer some mild understeer by the sound of it.

I beat a lot of Carbos with my Feltzer, as I did with my Comet and Coquette as well. From my POV, it's not the best in sports.

It mostly depends on the driver.

:) Ok - "In my opinion" then. :) I've driven all the sports cars fully modded and the Feltzer is very nice and very grippy, Coquette is still on my main character but understeers until snap oversteer - decent but not as good as the Carb. Sultan is mid pack at best. Comet is oversteery but fun and challenging, anything but slow when driven well (actually beats my Carb round Route 68 by a fraction - I use Route 68 to level RP). Elegy is just not right for me, like most four wheel drives I guess, a bit drifty and lacking precision. I used to like the 9F a lot, was very hard for others to spin but now I find it "slidey".

I think many may need to master the Carb to get the most out of it but the Feltzer is easy, making it a nice car to jump in can race for anyone. I had a Carb as my first sports and didn't like it, only coming back to it after a couple of hundred races. I think driven well it's very hard to beat, driven averagely against Feltzers and Sultans I expect it would be easy to beat. I never race with catch-up on though which may be a factor.

Z-Type only sucks to people with Monroes because they can't drive it. I'm not trying to insult those people, I'm saying it's just like the Adder vs Entity debate which is funny because the Z-Type is Truffade.

Someone who's mastered the Adder can beat an Entity.

Z-Type is actually easier to drive than the Adder, in my opinion so all it takes is some practice and you can beat Monroes. The thing is also a boat so it's nice and sturdy, making it hard to pit.

Lots of opinions but 1 thing being overlooked. Anyone who has raced a lot and compared car characteristics will tell you the DRIVER is still the single biggest factor to winning races. A good driver can win with almost any vehicle in the same class, for sure if hes using one of the top 3 in class.

I get it we want every edge, that's why we use Carbon replacement panels and Custom tires for the slightest performance improvements. Car types might provide a bigger advantage but a faster car will never overcome a bad driver.

Someone who's mastered the Adder can beat an Entity.

Sure a good driver in an Infernus could beat an XF. But on most tracks a good driver will always get his best time in an XF.

The XF doesn't require a good driver, lol.

I beat Carbos all day in a Sultan. It's not always about top speed. The best race car is going to differ from track to track.

I'd race you all day in my Carb'z and you wouldn't win one race in your Sultan unless i crashed lol

My garage is geared towards racing too:

Super: Entity (no brainer really)

Sports: 9F - I know it's not the most popular but once I learned how to handle the rear end it's helped me do much better in sports races)

Muscle: Gauntlet - Agreed, overall the easiest to handle at speed

Motorcycle: Akuma - Agreed again, overall hard to beat, especially on twisty tracks, which 'bike races seem to mostly be

Off-Road: Bifta - I LOVE off-road since I got my Bifta, that thing is nuts and I wouldn't race anything else on the dirt/sand

Sports Classic: Monroe - Bought it for looks, knowing it had decent stats, but couldn't control it to save myself at first, took a LOT of practice to get the hang of it but so glad now that I stuck with it

Compact: Blista - Another no brainer

Coupe: Exemplar- My main mission car as well as my Coupe racer, and the easiest car in my garage to cruise around in, undefeated in Coupe races in it

Sedan: Fugitive - Not the fastest but I just found it so much easier to corner without having to slow down to the point I'm almost stopped, just to get round

SUV - Rocoto - Statistically one of the best, and very easy to drive - doesn't want to spin me when I corner like the others I've tried seem to, just feels more balanced than the Baller II and faster than the rest

I'm amazed by how many ignorant statements that are found in this thread.

I think people need to test the best cars in each class for themselves and see what lap times they get. Such kind of research is the reason I barely ever lose, cuz winning is science!

Exactly - and test them thoroughly, don't just try them in one race before deciding you can't handle a car.

Took me a LOT of practice before I could handle my Monroe, and even more to get my 9F to corner at speed without spinning like a top - Wouldn't swap them for anything now, but if I'd baded my opinion on my first drive, I wouldn't have either in my garage.

Very little love in this thread for the 9F, and I almost never come up against another in Sports races, which I can understand given how lively the rear is, but I cannot recommend it highly enough if you don't mind practicing. I don't think I have a car in my garage I get more joy from driving now, in races, missions or FR (although I use my 4 door Examplar for a lot of missions now).

I am sooo gonna test Monroe vs Z type extensively later today, and will make a big thread about the victor.

Can I just say that every statement along the lines of 'I beat ***s by the bucket load in my ***' is a complete waste of thread space.

Put almost any member of our crew in a race with randoms and they'll beat any car in anything. I mullered a stock Carbzz with a stock Sultan the other day and it proved nothing whatsoever about the cars.

I never got as far as fully modding my Elegy before I binned it for the Sultan, and then swapping that for my 9F, so was never able to really compare them. When I made the choice to have 10 car garage with 1 in each race category, many tough decisions had to be made - still a little sad at saying bye to my Sultan RS *sniff*

Winning more sports races now than I was, but that could purely be down to the additional mods, or the fact I'm more practiced at racing now than I was then, impossible to say.

9F is not an easy car to drive, but bloody hell it's good fun, and it's getting me wins.

Yes, Elegy isn't as eye candy as 9F.. Comet.. Feltzer.. or Coquette etc., but elegy does drive like it was a super car. I do better lap times with elegy, than adder on my own created track with nasty turns.

The Elegy is hand's down the best car in the game never mind Sports class.

I almost always race Sport with my Carb'z because i like it, but against most of my crew members who drive the Elegy like it's on rails there's certain tracks if i don't use my Elegy i know i'll be left behind.

I know this because if they were in a Carb'z and i was in an Elegy i'd leave them behind. That goes for 9F and Feltzer too.

Elegy is unbeatable in capable hands

People need to understand that winning a lot of races in a certain car doesn't matter at all since most of the people doing races in Online can't drive even if their life was on the line. I know I would still win a lot of races in a Carbonizzare and Monroe, which I have because I have owned both vehicles but the fact remains that the Elegy and Z-Type is faster under ideal circumstances.

What I'm trying to say is that the driver is always the biggest factor in a race and what we're trying to figure out is which car is the fastest if we take away the biggest factor..

each class has 2 or 3 top cars, the reason why theres no one difinitive car that dominates each class is because the determining factor is the driver....

i dont know how many times ive had the debate that driving style should be your biggest consideration when picking the type of car you are best at driving in each class..

lets take the example of super sports and sports classics, I can pretty much guarentee that 80-% of people who drive an entity xf in super will drive an elegy in sports and a munroe in sports classics, whereas those who favour an adder in super will prefer a feltzer in sports and a z-type in sports classics... obviously there are some exceptions to this rule, but quite often (in my experience) those that buck the trend tend to do so not based on performance, but on visual aesthetics (so an entity driver may find the elegy bland and prefer the park-bench spoiler of the feltzer aswell as that extra wide bodykit)

lets try and put personal opinion aside for a moment and any bias towards certain cars so as to be objective.. some drivers prefer to have a lil more traction, others prefer slightly less traction. The cars in GTA compensate this by (on average) the cars with less traction having a higher tops speed, and those with more traction have a lower top speed (but often a slight edge in acceleration)... By design the cars are tailored towards these two main driving styles meaning that on average performance is pretty much equal... the determining factor being the guy behind the wheel..

i have my own preference to which cars I prefer to use... that doesnt mean they are the best cars for joe bloggs down the road, the OP or indeed anyone else. It all comes down to how you handle your vehicles and thats the end of it... The only answer worthwile giving is for the OP to test drive the "best in class" vehicles for him/herself and determine which ones suit they way they drive...

arguing over whether the ztype is better or whether a carbo merks a sultan is pointless and irrelevant... none of you know how the OP drives... so your opinion is merely that, when you try and state it as fact you undermine your position in giving the OP advice, all your doing is trying to assert your own opinion as fact and thats a fallacy...

If you're driving your 9F full throttle, you'll never beat even a moderately decent driver in an Elegy, as it drives "on rails" indeed. Wasn't till I learned the throttle/break balance with my 9F that I kinda clicked with it, I just "got" how to handle it after hours of spinning out and swearing loudly at my TV...

If you can learn to feather the throttle and brake at the right time when cornering the 9F CAN be fast around bends without spinning wheels, which seems plain impossible when you first hop in one. Was in a lobby just last night where we did 5 races in a row, 4 of them sports class and 1 was 'bikes - I was lowest level in the room and had completed less than 1/4 of the races of the host and his crew members who made up most of the others, and they ALL drove Elegys in the sports races - and I won 3/4 in my 9F. Losing the one I did was my own [email protected] fault too, trying to power-slide a bend that didn't need it!

As I said before I never got as far as FULLY modding my Elegy before I binned it, and the 9F is the only one in the class I've had fully modded (to limits my level determine), so I've never been able to do a proper comparison myself.

Do love the Carb tho for looks, there's not a lot wrong with that beast, a fine looking thing for sure - Crew-mate of mine has one and I do love cruising around in it.

Very true - Some of those cars are not easy to drive the first time you hop in one, some drivers just "get" the handling in some cars that others dismiss as not being fast/smooth enough to drive. Many people dismiss a car right away if they don't nail it as soon as they test them, and end up going with the car that's the most common/popular.

Have had my @ss handed to me a couple of times by guys in "inferior" cars, simply because they drove too good, and new how to handle their car better than I did mine.

thing is curlys crew is full of pretty damn fast drivers... so the problem is exacerbated when they all choose their elegy, thats the reason i rarely get to race my surano with my second character, as its pointless to watch them all nail every corner with perfect apex's and crise into the distance.......

on topic i for some reason couldnt let go of my sentinel, too much sentiment for me, but i knew every damn race id go up against crewbies in coupes id get my ass handed to me as they all lined up in their exemplars... im a pretty adept driver,, but so are they and the sentinel just couldnt quite keep up... now that sentinel has been moved to sports i need to replace it anyway and exemplar is one of my top contenders,,, but jsut cos i like to be different ill probably go for a zion hardtop...

Can't argue with that, I have come across a lot of very good Elegy drivers, and perhaps if I put the practice in I'd be better in one of those than I am in my 9F, but I doubt I'd have quite as much fun flying round those corners

I must confess there's also an element of self satisfaction involved when I win a race in my 9F, as I'm almost always the only person in one of them in a room full of Elegy's and the odd Carbo - Knowing that I'm driving the liveliest rear end in the class against others who are "on rails" as someone said earlier, does feel pretty good!

FasterThanYou

A good driver can correct the slides and adjust their speed quickly to continue on the line at a good speed. Its not all about braking more.

And the grip threshold is higher on grippier cars, so their maximim performance when you nail a corner is higher. It´s fairly easy to understand.Grip threshold? Grippier?

what column is that in?

"Traction". It is well visible in game. It is named poorly as traction is a specific kind of grip (under acceleration), but that bar is the one that will give you a good idea about overall grip levels of your car.

Beware it doesnt have balance into account (doesnt tell you which is the dominant end of the car, and which is the weak one). Only driving will tell you that.

know that feeling... it gets even better when you accidentally forget your gauntlet is in the inpound lot and you manage to beat a field of fully modified muscle cars using your stock POS.... especially when they are all in the same crew and gang up on you with 2 guys racing backwards specifically trying to hit you.... good times... good times indeed

Accendo

Carb's got nothing on the Sultan on the mountain. This is fact. It does not corner as quckly because it's impossible to hit the same lines at the same speed. As I said: each individual is going to have a different answer because of how different the vehicles are and how different each track is. It's sad how many kids here feel the need to measure e-peens.
