Opinion on V after 5 months of playing!

Of course there are things disappointing about it when the game is hyped up by R* to be the next big thing. I wouldn't say I was disappointed though.

I have a good number of gripes with the game, but nothing too glaring.

-The radio is a mixed bag, equally great and equally garbage. East Los FM, Fly Lo FM, Channel X and the talk stations are all trash. The other stations are mostly good and there are some real gems (Radio Gaga, Convoy, Party All The Time, etc)

-The map is too big for its own good. Too many underutilized areas, like the military base, prison, power plant, all of the islands, the underwater sections, Chumash, and Mount Gordo. The use of these areas in Online does NOT count in my view.

-I actually think the gunplay is a step-down from IV. I hate how lock-on isn't permanent anymore, and they removed the ability to target specific body parts and see enemy health/armor.

-Businesses are more of an annoyance than a pleasure. They generate money for nothing and have minimal player interaction aside from defending them and being an errand boy.

-The story is mediocre. Franklin shouldn't even exist because his story was so rushed and uninteresting. The "villains" weren't really intimidating (I thought Steve Haines was funny some times) either.

Aside from these issues, I really enjoyed the game. 9/10.

I really hope R* is paying attention to the feedback they've been getting about the game like they did with IV where they responded with The Ballad of Gay Tony.

I agree with the stuff you said about GTA V, but I'm very baffled as to how you can think it still deserves a 9/10 score with all the flaws and shortcomings you have mentioned about the game. Especially when the game had less interiors than GTA IV, something you forgot to mention.

I gave it an 8/10 initially, but on more thought, I've decided to revise it down to a 7.5/10. 8 is a bit too generous.

I still had a lot of fun with the game. I think it has some of the best missions in the series, it's fun playing online with friends, and I love to just roam about and take in the detail of the world. I've played this GTA more than any other in the series to date.

Fair enough, I cannot argue with that.

I still had fun playing it myself, but just not as much as you did evidently. I've not played GTA V since last year late November or December since I finished the story and did a bit of free roaming, there is not much else to the game that keeps me interested or entertained. I actually wanna play GTA IV+EFLC again for the third time.

Similar like General. After beating V's story, little free roaming. I switched to IV, finished, SA, finished now playing TBoGT, the next is TLaD and after it goes the best game in the series. Vice City.

Anyway, I think V was trying to be too many things and focused so much on the little details that it lost the big picture. It has very good gameplay, but the world itself seems only surface deep. Same thing with the characters really, trying to be so dynamic and yet they lack depth.

Anyways GTA V isn't as bad as people say it is.

Is it a better game than IV? Yes it is.

I'm sick of seeing all these V haters just hating on the game cause its cool too. The funny thing is half the people who say IV is better than V is the ones that say IV was the worst GTA game ever. Did you forget why IV wasn't that great? Go back and play the game. I did that. I gotta to say V is indeed better than IV in almost every way but Story.

IV car controls are not realistic. Don't give me that bullsh*t. It felt like a boat. V's control is arcade styles and that isn't a problem. They use those controls cause the map is 5 times bigger than IV.

The combat is a huge step up compared to IV. Movement is clean, cover is improved, and aiming is just way better.

V environment is just better than IV. You can say you like Liberty City more than Los Santos and truth be told I do as well but there's no denying that having as much as what V has is better than a very detail city.

Los Santos - Very Detail ( Not at the level of Liberty City )

Blaine Country - Sandy Shore's another very detail placed.

- Paleto Bay may not be as detail as Sandy shores but it also is a great place. It's also the only place where a town is by a forest.

- Military Base

- Mountains are the only thing V didn't need a lot of. I understand they put them there to make the place feel real but when you go up there its just a waste of space.

I've been doing that a lot lately and as far as I'm concerned it's still a great game as it was when it was new. For me at least the only things GTA V does better are technicalities expected of a newer game.

Honestly?

Still as high as it was at Release, I had lots of fun and good things to say about V, I don't have many Negative things to add to be perfectly honest.

GTA IV side missions and activities went with the story of Niko. Most of GTA V's side missions and activities is there just to be there.

I also agree that Liberty City is just made way better than Los Santos.

I don't think no one can deny their first view of Star Junction at night was one of the best moments in IV freemode. It gave you that WOW factor.

RDR had it with its great night skies, water, and countryside. ( Forgot to say its beautiful sunsets. )

GTA V??? The only place that really comes to mine is the beach both in day and night. Looks really good. Golf course is another great looking place.

There's no PC version, so I don't understand the efforts put behind the pros and cons at this period of time.

Sorry but I have to disagree in the part of the story, Drunken cowboy didnt even pay attention to the story. Wanna know why? He didnt even know why Trevor was helping Michael with the whole FIB stuff even though it was pretty clear and Trevor repeteadly said it himself! I lost my credibility on him since that point.

...Well, they were working on the game since 2008, that's far from rushed.

IV is my favourite just by one tiny bit, V is still amazing.

Considering the OP likes The Last of Us, yeah, he's one of these guys. It's a 7/10 game for me, I wouldn't give the opinion about it here because this is a not a TLoU topic.

I agree with sibs but I did care about the GTA's story before IV, and I just like IV more, I just enjoy it a slight bit more. Rockstar didn't change one bit.

Maybe the apocalypse is happening now. The end is near because that is the only way I can explain this post. Just kidding but I agree with most of what you say. TLOU being game of the year certainly is understandable but V certainly deserved to be in the nominations and people's favorite is subjective.
