GTAO DLC = Insult To Injury

Its nothing spectacular, but for a free dlc where you get in game items, I thought it was pretty good.

Well the DLC is adding a lot of cool stuff I'm excited about but I kinda hyped it up hoping for buying properties which is my fault not R*. I wish GTA had more of an "Endgame"

IMO, the only thing wrong with them adding all these vehicle DLCs is that I don't have enough garage space to get everything I want. They should let us purchase a second property. Best would be an apartment+garage property and a separate garage property. Total of 20 cars.

GTA has also had to deal with something very, very few console games have had to contend with: Rampant, pervasive hacking and modding. Setting aside glitches and exploits, which all games have to some extent at first, Rockstar has had to play a game of whack a mole with hackers outright wrecking the game for others. Closing the loopholes, exploits and other means they use to gain access to the game may have required some serious code overhauls.

 

Now, given that sort of environment, put yourself in their shoes. What would you do? Release big new DLCs that you have to turn around and constantly rebuild along with the game's base code, requiring frequent, huge and expensive patches? Don't release anything at all and watch the fanbase lose interest and leave (see: Defiance)? Or release some easy to make things now and then to show people they are at least *trying* to keep them engaged while they fix things?

 

This stuff might be underwhelming. I seriously want a second garage, business properties and such. I'd love new areas to explore and real new things to do. And I suspect in time we will get those things. But for now, they're handing out new things for free that most other games charge for. Is it a ploy for cash cards? Probably. But you don't have to do it that way. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

If it was all released at once the majority of onliners would race through it in a week and be back here complaining about nothing to do. That's realistic.

Not necessarily true, they could give us the proper tools to make new and fun things, such as the Mission Creator.

 

Missions are a huge part of the game, to get any money, you must grind/play them a ton, as of now, we have about 100 in total, they could either copy and paste them around, and that way we could have something to do constantly.. Not everyone likes races and deathmatches, they get tedious and annoying with real players since it's unfair at times.

 

In R*'s own article on the newswire, before the game came out, they said we would have ''500 missions'' on Launch, it was also on an IGN article.

And I don't think OP is completely over-reaching if indeed R* made statements about things like heists being there out of the gate. I wouldn't know, I am kinda new round here (Ima Xmas nub). I'd say that new 'certified races' don't exactly count as new content, but hey... the new maps paks and game modes we got on BF4 weren't exactly life changing either. As with that, I have to think the expectations of heists will ultimately leave many wanting more... because of the anticipation.

 

Look at what happened with this one; people started dreaming of what it would be and were ultimately let down - though my daughter just got home and was like "Will there be new clothes?" (excitedly) when I told her of the coming DLC (she also likes the pic of the car).

 

I still enjoy sooooo many things... taking pics, riding around in my chopper (and not getting a stinger up my arse every 2 seconds... BF4 reference there folks), collecting cars, perfecting missions (with friends), coming up with crazy events (see Olympics etc), rampaging in FM... on and on... (if yer bored, see the "fun things to do" thread in my sig). What happens when I tire of it? I play something else. I am a gamer, not a GTA guy per se...

 

I have no expectations, soooooo... anything I do get in a DLC is just a bonus.

lol what dlc has there been we have gotten more races and TDM, race and tdm creator something that was supposed to be released soon after release which i think 3 months in it was now we are getting capture creator even tho the most requested option im seeing being asked for is mission creator or more plain old coop missions not races not tdm and certainly not capture which is a complete dead zone. cant wait to see thee all mellee capture modes. 5 months in and still no heists they are listening to there fan base yet theres the closed casino and no stock exchange in online

I agree with your thread, EA's forums are crazy, especially Madden though, is the perfect example of money milking, plenty of YT vids out there, how the ''Next Gen'' madden has worse AI and crowd, as well as physics and other aspects compared to older Maddens from like 10 years ago.

 

The thing with this game though is just the way R* has worded it all, it seems wrong, obviously their ultimate goal is to make money, but the way they do it is just frustrating. They could have kept their mouth shut, and not hype things that they most likely knew wouldn't be released on Day 1.

 

A good way to do DLC imo is to announce it, give out some details, and give a release a bit later.

 

Not announce it before the game is out, stuff it in a trailer, and not release it half a year down the line.

People's problem is that they listen to people speculate to get their news. If you would stop trying to decipher everything, and listen to what those who are unattached to R*, you wouldn't be creating unwarranted false hope.

Reality is we have NO idea what is coming with this DLC other than what they said. They mention business ventures, that could be the current missions or new added ones. We have more material to keep us busy until they give us more DLC.

Relax and let things unfold, and stop being such a collection of whiny babies who feel entitled to something that isn't theirs. I can't stand when people bash sh*t before it's even out to anyone.

the problem is rockstar leaving us in the dark. relax and let the shareholders count the cash card sales.

why do people bash this stuff before its out? because everybody is getting tired of expensive items that add nothing to the game.

 

yeah more crappy weapons, clothes and cars that arent any better than what we have now. but at least you have some new shiney stuff to distract you while you drive to point a, collect the item and then drive across the map to point b.

I can see where you are coming from, but no, I don't agree. These free content packs are little servings meant to tide us over until the meat n potatoes come (leaving heists aside, I'm referring to the expansion(s)) along. They don't require a great deal of manpower, and I would speculate aren't effecting the development of other stuff at all.

 

Would you have been happy with Rockstar not releasing any new content *at all* until the expansion? Rockstar just can't win.
