Th3MaN1
I'm sure this stuff was, and will be done this stuff quite a lot of times. My favorite example would be the mission "Bury The Hatchet" from GTA V, which bears a striking resemblance to Max Payne 3's chapter 8 "Ain't No Reprievement Gonna Be Found Otherwise". Also, in the mission "Derailed", R* reference CJ (I'm sure I don't need to tell you where he comes from) as a requirement for 100% gold medal for that mission, and that requirement is called "Better than CJ". Which is your favorite reference, and why?
Kiffster
GTA (which one was it) that had "True Grime: Street Cleaners" ads in response to True Crime Streets of LA having billboards of J* Jockstrap (I thought it was Cockstar for some reason). The fact is, True Crime was indeed true grime in my honest opinion. Edited February 27, 2014 by Werebot85 Fallcreek and Th3MaN1

The fact is, True Crime was indeed true grime in my honest opinion. That game with the 'True Grime: Street Cleaners' ads was GTA: SA.
Zancudo
Well, Metal Gear Solid games had several references to previous Kojima's games: Snatcher and Policenauts.

Kiffster
Here's something I just read that's quite interesting... Steve Gaynor wrote the story for BioShock 2's Minerva's Den DLC, but he then left 2K Marin and co-founded The Fullbright Company, developers of the highly rated indie game Gone Home. In Minerva's Den, there's a character by the name of Charles Milton Porter, who made the 1950s video game Spitfire. The game can be discovered and played in Minerva's Den. So in Gone Home, there's a video game cartridge for a game called Super Spitfire, which has a fictional in-game publisher called CMP Interactive, or Charles Milton Porter Interactive. Furthermore, the plane that Katie, the protag in Gone Home, uses to fly home in the beginning of the game, is part of a (nameless) airline company that also makes an appearance in BioShock. That company also owns the plane that BioShock protag Jack was in before it crash-landed into the sea above Rapture at the beginning of the game. The company's logo can be seen on both planes. Interesting, yes? Two totally different, polar-opposite games "set in the same universe"... Edited February 28, 2014 by Werebot85
Dboi 420
Even though I never played Skyrim, I was well aware of the "took an arrow to the knee" joke. Quite a few games referenced it the following year via achievements. Tomb Raider (When the dodge counter is used, the player stabs the enemy in the knee.)
