It's one thing to be passionate about a game that you want to see more out, but you've been here long enough to know that goes way out of proportion in a place like this. It's gotten to the point where even if anyone says their "passionate" about said game/topic, it's just a synonym for bitching. Whatever the reason or motivation, you're all lumped up in the same category.

GTA has run in my veins for the last decade. I'm still blown away with how it feels to load into the world each and every time. And my anticipation for online has been high every since finding the 2 player icon just down from Grove street in San Andreas. Sure there could be more, but have they failed to deliver? not in my eyes, not by a long shot.

I'm just waiting for ESO to be honest. Complete different vibe of course, but that's what tickling my fancy at the moment. There's another beta coming up tomorrow so I definitely won't be playing GTAO this weekend.

I have no personal issues with Rockstar, it's always been a great multiplayer mode in my eyes and not an actual MMO so my expectations have always been respectfully limited/reasonable. Sure I like to poke some fun at it sometimes, but who doesn't do that anyway ?

 

I'm nearly at 10k player kills so that's what I'm aiming for by the end of march when ESO comes out to keep me busy. If the heists happen to be released by then, sweet, otherwise I'll probably pick up GTAO for a spin again in a few months or so just to see how things have been since.

 

Not fussed either way.

I used to play SA-MP and because it was user generated there were zero complaints, if someone wanted a feature then within a few weeks it was added. I really think that rockstar will get round to adding most of the features that we desire.

See? That's kinda how I am. Was some 300hrs in (LVL 93) in BF4 by Xmas... My daughter got GTA V, looked like fun, so I hopped on. Been back to BF a few times, but I still have sh*t tons of fun in GTAO (400hrs+ in now) and when that wanes? I'll go back to other games, or try new ones. Fck the stress. I am gaming to chill out when not working. To hang with family and friends.

 

As for ESO, not really sure wtf is up there. As I mentioned, I was a bit underwhelmed when my son was let into the beta. I hope it's awesome though, cause I always wanted a good MP element to ES.

 

Anyway.... enough of this madness. My work day is pretty much over, gonna go log on and see what I can get up to.

Time will tell. $15 a month is nothing for a lot of online gamers. The big question is will it feel acceptable to them based the quality/regularity of the added content.

 

Same problem every mmo faces though. But a lot of silly people equal failure with not toppling WOW. Which was a one time phenomenon let's be honest. It probably will do alright on subs for a couple of years and switch to freemium like most mmos do nowadays.

 

It's a pretty good game in my opinion and the pvp is awesome as well. Playing the beta tonight when I get off, hehe.

I was just thinking about the many threads/convos on how much GTAO sucks, and by extension, R* (and Take Two)

 

While I do agree there's some issues, I wonder if it's us being too picky or the gaming world just trying to hard (producers).

 

I mostly only play games with online elements.

 

The most recent NHL 14 from EA? A ton of bitching in that community and plenty of threads that resemble the ones here ('they suck' 'money grubbing' 'returned it' 'never playing again' 'they hate their customers' yada yada yada). While I don't play them, I believe FIFA and Madden has some of the same complaints

 

Next up, Battlefield 4; again, a lot of the same sentiments over there on the boards, maybe not as bat-sh*t crazy, but I've learned the GATO peeps are a passionate bunch. Again, to this day there's still a sh*t ton of problems with that game from freezing, to invisible players, gun/vehicle balancing and more. In fact, I came here from the BF4 world a few months ago myself as it was getting a bit too much.

 

And the much awaited "Second Assault' maps? A bit of a let down imo. I can just 'see' what's going to happen around here when the heists final land, if they're not what everyone's expected (and I doubt they will be due to the massive anticipation that's built up.. )

 

And what about Elder Scrolls Online? My son was part of the beta-testing crew so we have it installed here at my house... and well... he freaked out when they first gave him access, but it didn't last long. He was back playin GTAO in short order. Methinks there's gonna be some pissed of peeps that per-ordered that fckn thing. While I didn't play it, I was watching some and it's probably not as advertised.

Do we expect too much? Or are game developers just getting pushed around by corporate and putting less than perfect games out there? I really don't know at times.

 

I am far from bored of GTAO at this point and in fact, kinda love the sandbox. I found the issues mentioned above with other games, to be far more frustrating than the ones on GTAO, but the community here seems to be far more rabid than those ones.

Dude forsure.... a PERFECT example to this is my all time favorite game series Total War.... While Shogun 2 was still good... something with these last couple years of game making has made games really go into the stinker....

Then Company of Heros... You have to buy every commander for 3 dollars... DLC campaigns and whatnot... buying the game is buying an incomplete version of it. ATLEAST Rockstar gave us a badass game... so what if it has a few server hiccups and idiots who hack the game... atleast it is what they said it was going to be... for the most part... we need heists first.... but frankly... some of the harder missions I consider heist like... American imports takes some coordination and planning else its just a mess.... as does say high priority case or even death from above.... break out, diamonds for treasure.. ect...

Ah yes... Total War... probably one of my fav PC games (not played online as much, mostly offline). I had a new computer and everything for the most recent one. It was pretty good, but not earth shattering I guess. But yea, that's just the risk we take. When I try a new restaurant, a new beer or anything, it's no guarantee that I'll like it. Welcome to reality eh?

 

Haven't tried Heroes lately, nor next gen consoles (all my friends are mostly still on this gen.. soooo).

 

As for this game, I still am having a blast and got more than my monies worth. No real complaints here. And yea, some of the missions we do tend to work em to kind of perfect the execution. I don't even bother doing them with randoms cause they often just run in and fck things up.

BF4's a clusterf*ck. There's a good game there somewhere but just a ridiculous amount of bugs holds it back.

 

So so much I hate about TESO. Ridiculous pre-order paywalls that run counter to core values in this franchise. Lore butchering. Generic as all f*ck in the gameplay department. Silly sub prices. But I'm a long time fan of The Elder Scrolls, have owned every game (even spinoffs) and in some cases multiple copies there of, so there's still a chance I'll end up getting it.

 

Either way, I'll still be playing GTA:O on and off for the foreseeable future.

Being a former NFSW player, I can assure you that GTA Online is nothing like NFS World.

 

I played that game since day 1 and it was already crap. Things only got worse from there. Too many bugs, extremely bad sync, retarded developers (really. The guys can't take criticism. I told one of them all the bad things they never fixed and he responded me with a list of things they added, completely ignoring my question, and then telling me that I never developed an online game so I have no right to complain, so yeah, things are really bad down there). Not to mention it's pay2win at it's finest. The whole game and forums sum up how sh*t EA is perfectly. I'm not gonna go into more details because it's impossible.

 

GTA: Online is not what R* promised, and yes, it has a sh*tton of bugs, but it's waaaaaaay more playable, enjoyable and better than NFSW. By far.

Yea, I was ever so sad that BF4 went the way it did. It's still fun and I ain't a COD guy, but it has been a bit of a let down and the bugs/issues persist. I hope it gets better. And hey, if it weren't for the issues with it I'd probably not have wandered over to GTAO. Again, part of the point I guess; if yer not happy, go play something else. We're gamers first, GTA fans second.

 

As for TESO, we'll see. I am a fan of the series and also have mutliple copies of many of them (my kids play as well) but I might wait a bit on this one to see what the chatter is out there first.

 

And yes, the sandbox that is GTAO will keep me around for some time. While I play some games with my kids, this one is the first that the entire family plays since RDR. I used to love having a posse causing sh*t with my two kids and my wife... tons o' fun and a really strange way to bond lol. But I like it... hell, my wife and I were playing last night (and having a few pints) and we were at the strip joint for a bit, (she got a few table dances) and then I got her a hooker... oh... so much fun. Can't get something that strange in any other game, that's fer sure.

There actually is competition for GTA:Online, The dude who was behind the original GTA developed it, and it has been around a few years already.... APB (Now APB:Reloaded). It is essentially the same as GTA:Online but made by a different company on a different engine. Seeing as C* f*ck everything up and are only interested in taking our money, I'm sure most of you will have a whale of a time there.... :|

All the japanese tracks are gone. Nascar ovals are gone. Nurburgring is gone. And the one that hurt me the most was the loss of Fujimi Kaido. The auction house and storefront was gone too. Meaning no community liveries to browse and that also means my only way of making money like in Forza 4 was also gone.

I can't speak to the other games as i have no experience with the fan base or online aspect but despite some obvious hiccups i think R* has handled their first venture into the MMO type world pretty well. As for gamer expectations, I have to say for atleast GTAO and GTA in general of recent years, it has had one of the most childish, impatient and naive minded fan bases i have ever witnessed. Anyone who has frequented this forum since V was announced can attest to this.
