Kiffster
1. Tomb Raider - loved every second of the latest reboot. I've been a TR fan since the first game back in the day, and this one was probably my favourite to date, even though I wish there were more actual tomb/ruins exploration like in all the previous games instead of all the action. In the reboot, those parts are there, but they are a bit lackluster in my opinion and seem to have been added as a quick side activity. Still an awesome, epic game though, and by far the best of 2013 for me. 2. Assassins Creed Black Flag - love the pirate theme, and it is leaps and bounds better than the very disappointing AC3. I still like AC2 more though. 3. Splinter Cell Blacklist - At first it was strange listening to the new Sam Fisher, but after the first mission, I was already used to him and didn't mind at all that Ironside was gone. I think the new guy did a sterling job tbh. Anyhoo, loved Blacklist, but it was not on par with the first 3 games in the series in my opinion. It was however, better than Double Agent and Conviction. The story was good, the missions big, and the atmosphere was the best yet. The side missions were cool, but I just wish there were more of it. I thought Charlie's first mission was the hardest part of the entire game haha. I really struggled to at least make it through the first 5 waves. His other missions were far better. I hated the fact that Briggs was under utilized in the solo campaign though, and why the hell they turned the couple of parts where you get to control him into some sh*tty arcade style first person shooter, I'll never understand. I absolutely hated those parts! 4. Bioshock Infinite - mentioned this a few times already on these forums - Infinite was good, but not good enough. Worse than its predecessors IMO. Unless I'm forgetting one, those are the only games I bought last year. Edited February 27, 2014 by Werebot85

Someone I know said the exact same thing about AC Black Flag. It's basically just another assassin's creed game, for better or worse. The overworld is beautiful, but it's moreso about the graphics than the gameplay. I agree on Tomb Raider. I think since the story was at a fast pace about rescuing people, I think taking your time and moving through tombs to get treasure seemed less relevant, unlike the former Lara who existed only for treasure and ego. But I think this TR sh*ts on all the previous ones. As for Bioshock Infinite. I agree. It was "fun". And it had a great story. But the replay value wasn't there. As much as I was frustrated with Bioshock 1, it had much more depth and Rapture is a world I would want to revisit. Kiffster
CantThinkOfOne2013
Grand Theft Auto V: GTA V is a combination of the best things about the series and simply put, it's the best game I have ever played. Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag: The best AC game I have ever played, one could argue that the ship makes it feel less like an AC game but there is still plenty of classic AC gameplay on land. The Last of Us: Great survival gameplay and well designed worlds, and oh yeah, I suppose the plot is pretty good too (in all seriousness, the plot is more than 'pretty good'). Tomb Raider: A great reboot with great gameplay and an interesting story. I still have plans to play Saints Row IV, but I am waiting for them to release a complete edition with all the DLC like they did with SRTT because I don't feel comfortable paying for digital downloads.
