Car auctions?

What if instead of selling your vehicle to LSC you took it to an auction and players could bid against each other to buy a car they want. You can sleet what price to start the bidding at and there would be a whole lot of arguing on the mics. So what do you guys think should this be a feature in GTA online?

I really wish you could custom paint your cars like you could in forza. Then an auction would make sense cause you'd be selling pieces of art.

Seems like a cool idea, another reason to have more garage space as well, and the monetary aspect would be intriguing. But I have to agree with siray in that glitches will be found and abused, and so on and so on.

Its a cool idea but one that wouldnt work. Even in a 16 person lobby you usually probable wouldnt find anyone who wants to buy that specific car, and even if there was one you wouldnt usually wouldnt have enough to have a bidding war. If anything they would have to set up a used car selling site on the in game phone or something. Either way it would be way more work than it is worth.

I agree glitchers can ruin this but they can ruin a lot of aspects of the game. This doesn't have to come out before heists it can come out after heists is released.

I know I read that and thanks for saying so, I was merely stating how this idea should be implemented after heists.

That could be a good use of the casino building. A non-aggressive building where cars will be repaired and cleaned. Auction fee percentages would apply. Would only work with Personal Vehicles, so you couldn't just grab a car off the street and make money off of it.

Yeah it would definitely need to be personal vehicles. I also agree we should be able to own more than one garage or simply have more garage space.

Say I have a friend. Say we want to transfer money. Say I put a rusty Tornado up for sale for 5 millions. Say he pays said 5 millions for said rusty Tornado. Say Rockstar will never allow so easy transfers, because their whole patching is clamping on money exchanging hands.

 

Now say it`s a bad idea. Or at the very least say it`s an utopic idea.

a place where we can place our cars and have them up for sale, giving other the opportunity to buy a modded car from other players.

 

i'd rather have other player enjoy the car instead of having it disappear by selling them in LSC.

 

i guess this wont happen, after all people would have a chance og buying Super cars cheaper than the Legendary website which would go against the cash card mentality R* have...

I think that's a cool idea we could probably have auctions and used car lots, one for excitement and one for an assured purchase. But yeah R* is too big on cash cards to add either of these

really good idea, actually. TBH, if they made some sort of way to buy cars from players, that's probably all I would be doing all day long. Especially with the money I have, I could buy thousands of PVs and just have fun swapping around my garage every little while or so

How about this. Repurpose the Impound Lot to a used car lot, where cars that are low-end can be sold, but high end cars can't (eg. DLC, Legendary Motorsports). Purpose the Casino building into a high-end auction house, with the race track having its fencing removed, and massive open tents where cars up for auction can line up for players to look at openly. The Auction House would be job-based, so to enter would be like entering a job or entering your apartment/garage.

This would be a great idea. I have a fully modified hardtop Manana, fully modified Tailgater, fully modified Sentinel (hard top convertible), and fully modified MW Mesa. I would sell the Manana at $50k. Tailgater at $200k, Sentinel at $125k and MW Mesa at $100k. Those prices are a lot cheaper than doing it yourself and the wasted time it takes to find one.

you wouldn't need to limit it t just those in your lobby...

 

easy solution, R* setup an auction web site. accessible from your in game phone or laptops...

 

sellers go to the site, click sell, then select the car they wish to sell from their vehicle list (same way you select one from your mech)... sellers are charged a % of the final sale price, say 5%, meaning the "buyer" gets the car at the price they bid (like ebay..)

 

you could even add a "reserve" option for a minimum sale price (probably attracting a higher "commission" from the auction site eg 10%)

 

Buyers from any lobby can go to the site and browse the "offered" vehicles, once purchased the seller gets funds added to their bank and a text/email notification to their phone... the buyer gets a new car delivered to their garage in the same way they do from LMS or SASA

Good idea dude. If this ever gets implemented, I would steal and sell cars all day. Finding rare cars is one of the most fun things to do in GTA. But once I find it, it's like "what do I do with it?" Would be great if I could profit from it.

This could work depending on how its implemented and could be a driver for selling cash cards. which for better or worse is a motivating factor in pushing content.

I remember the best auction system IMO was FFXI back in the days. When you were selling you saw the last price the item sold for and how many in the inventory. If there was a lot you low balled to sell first if you needed the money or pushed the price higher and waited for days until someone was desperate enough to buy. And you had to pay a tax so every time you listed something you lost a little money to keep people from manipulating the auction house by bidding high on different characters and sending the money back to the main character.

When you were buying you would just bid incrementally until you got it. And sometimes bought money from the Chinese since money selling was forbidden.

In gtao if a rare car like the Roosevelt came up for auction it would get bid up into the millions because you can't get anymore as of the end of the event. This would seriously motivate me to make more investment purchases of limited edition cars and also to go out looking for spawns.

Which brings up the next interesting dynamic, people will be camping these spawns and wars will break out in these areas making the game more interesting to me at least.

1. Not really, because cars will be sold fully modded at a lower price than you would buy them normally. As volume increases, prices will go down, making the profit margins smaller in general. Say I sell to LSC a fully modded Roosevelt for 400k (just saying - pulling numbers out of my ass). I can list for auction for anything between 400.001 and 750k (I don`t calculate a higher price for a rare car here.. technically I can ask for 1 bil, but that`s not the point). It would really depend how desperate I am for money and how much profit I want to make over selling it by the default LSC price.

 

Now, Rockstar forces you to spend a flat rate of 750k for that car, plus the 200k or something for the mods. That is 400k vs 950k. That is 500k that you will not have to grind, or buy a cash card for. Car auctions are actually directly hindering cash card sales, by lowering prices.

 

2. Invite only sessions will stock spawns, so this is a non-issue. We are not playing on one global server.
