Is there a point to banking cash now?

So, been levelling up my character through Coveted, then Mixed up with coke, noticed I had between 600-700k in my pocket at any time and figured i should put it away before anyone steals it.

Now I've unlocked rooftop rumble (which might I add... where is the rooftop?) Anyway, been a bit lazy, been wandering around free mode, and sometimes leaving my character sitting there while on the toilet, I'll hear gunshots, helicopters, bombs... killing me repeatedly... go into my menu and notice I have 918,000... nearly a million in my back pocket NOT in my bank... being killed repeatedly...

Can people actually claim any money off you now thanks to R* getting so anal on money sharing, or is the whole concept of the bank basically to share your money between character profiles?

Also seems RR is pretty decent way of making some coin. Made nearly a million in just a few days by trying to level up and not even realising it.

cash is just pointless and annoying, you drop $500 at a time no matter what, and when using cash to buy things that "require" cash to purchase, it takes it from your bank anyway

I think it's mostly so you can share between characters like you said, and to protect any that drops off you when you die.

If you carry less than 5000 you drop less than 500 when u die. If ur making a million every few day u shouldn't worry. Others may be more frugal.

The mugger can take up to 2k off of you if you have it in pocket. If you have $0 in pocket he gets $0. And I think you drop 500 or less depending on how much is in pocket. I've seen players drop 200 after killing them. And I've seen them drop $0

You don't lose a lot of money unless someone sends a mugger after you successfully (even then, it isn't that much - less than 5k I think). Otherwise, it's only ~$500 for hospital fees and some dropped 'pocket change'.

Oh, and as for 'Rooftop Rumble' (req. rank 75) lacking a rooftop, that mission got accidentally switched up with 'High Priority Case' (req. rank 25) during development. If you ever played the latter, you'll see why 'Rooftop Rumble' pays so much and requires such high level.

There is a point to banking money.. You drop money when you die, and you don't drop any if it's in the bank..

Killed someone today that had 57 dollars and next time didn't drop any.. And I've checked my money and don't lose any when I die, however if I have 5k plus in my pocket I drop 500. It's best to bank.

Is this The Guy?

When they made passive mode free there was no need for me to have cash anymore. That was pretty much the only thing that was cash only that i used to use, funny how I always got the 'purchase cash cards' notification when I had no cash to buy passive mode but had billions in the bank lol

I am always willing risk getting shot to bank my money, but now you have me thinking...

Cost of Hospital Bill = $500

Dropping money if you're shot = $500.

I should not bother rushing to my web browser to bank my money but instead, prioritize defending myself from an easy kill. If I'm shot and my money is banked, I lose $500 anyway.

'Evening, officer. I'm a known criminal who just wants to get his car back. Do you take credit or debit? OR A COUPLE OF BULLETS TO THE FACE?!' :D

same dont really see a point in putting money in my bank. I usually call a mugger on someone and i hate having to withdraw money so i just keep it in cash now

Nope, you drop about 1k if you have more than 5k in your pocket...

And you drop about 75-200 if you have less than 5k in your pocket.

I have now $1 557 448.

Nothing special to buy. I even think about selling my Roosevelt, which seems useless...

It's my thing, I buy and mod cars since the begining. I owned every good cars of the game at least once. I lost count.

I save money for the future DLCs. I always want new cars and stuff.

Entirely the reason I bankroll my money every time I get huge amounts, like $1500 or $2000. <sigh>

At least they made it so you don't need cash on you to purchase soda from a vending machine anymore. It takes credit/debit cards now! :panic:

Yeah, I always deposit if it's higher than $1000. I remember when I got so scared from R*'s warning about having more than $5000 on you. I used to race to an ATM to bank my cash and if someone spawned next to me after a mission I would light them up and run.

Well, it's better than having to withdraw $50 then not being able to deposit it afterwards because the amount is less than $50. :pp

Early on they were gonna have you lose more thru being robbed but it was clearly a bit unpopular.

I never bank anymore, just don't think to.

Saves up for Stinger, goes online to buy Stinger, 'you don't have enough money'. Wha-? Oh.

Saves up for Cheetah..... Wha-?

You get the picture.

I always deposit, because knowing my luck, rockstar will have a patch where you drop all your cash and I'll lose a boatload of it. But yeah, I'm still unsure how much you drop regularly even after reading all these comments.

"So what do you want, sugar?"

"The.. Uh. Works? Heh." *coughs and sweats awkwardly*

"Sure, baby. You got the dough?"

"I... Have... A card?" *sweats even more*

"... You're f*cking kidding me."
