There is no drawback to tuning cars completely

I don`t think spoilers have any performance value. Nor should they, because some of the top ones are butt ugly and I really don`t want to be forced into exterior parts.

Agree. Low suspension should suck badly offroad. Transmission should be either short or long, one for top speed, other for acceleration.

Dont like spoilers making a difference because that would force you to use a look you might not like.

I tested the Armor idea. I raced with and without...... No difference on my end.

That isn't just an 'idea'. It's been confirmed by Rockstar's. Brian B. On several threads in the Rockstar support forum. Also, the iFruit app shows the difference as well.

Welp, as far as tires go, there seems to be noticeable changes in how the car feels when you change tire type.

People also speculate that using carbon parts and not putting on armor decrease weight.

False on all accounts.

Not really. The carbon parts do make a difference in car weight, but it's minuscule - same as with armor. GTA V vehicles possess a plethora of hidden stats which many, not knowing they even exist, take for granted, looking only at the inaccurate and watered down four in LSC graphic.

Here are the real vehicle stats - taken straight from game values.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AlUQhOXwk9_ndDNQX3dfbC1KTjAtY2J3QVN6QVFCVlE

A couple of interesting tidbits from that:

A) The fastest vehicle 'max velocity' in game is 160mph (Adder and most choppers), which explains why people struggle to break 150mph without slipstreams, even with supercars and motorbikes.

B) Adder's top speed (160mph) is only 5mph faster than an Entity (155mph), and is only 7mph faster than the Cheetah (153mph), all despite Adder having an 8.6 LSC top speed rating, compared to Entity's 8.3 and Cheetah's 8.2.

C) Carbonizzare's top speed (158mph) is 3mph faster than the 9F, despite them having a same exact 'top speed' LSC rating (at 8.5)

Max velocity is theoretical and is affected by drag among other things. Having a higher max V does not translate to highest top speed. All these things have been tested by the youtubers (probably not Mikes roof rack or white letter tires for you haters) do some homework. Making statements like "Tires don't matter" or "carbon is a visual mod" is just not correct. The amount of difference and effects on lap times has been documented.

Individual mods may not be significant when taken on their own but done in in conjunction with others can have a large impact on speed and handling.

I don`t think spoilers have any performance value. Nor should they, because some of the top ones are butt ugly and I really don`t want to be forced into exterior parts.

I agree, involving aerodynamics in racing is ridiculous! The fastest car should be the prettiest!

Yes there is a drawback and here's why.....

I still think it's bullsh*t that in order to upgrade my car,I can only do it through racing. It's impossible to upgrade when your up against hackers, modders, noobs, cock blockers and all around douchebags. I don't cheat and I don't have the luxury of calling up my buddies to throw races in order to unlock all features (not that I would) hence - I don't even try to race in this game. The only upgrade my Entity has had is suspension (I managed to get a 5 wins - 36 loses in Superclass). Don't say I must suck or I can't race. If given the same set up as any of them in a race,I'd be a f*cking blip on the horizon while they eat my dust. Instead of giving 2 grand for being a good sport, unlock some of these features or even newer ones that will give true gamers a shot.

There is one thing called customs off. If you can't beat randoms with customs off and around challenging tracks, then that's a problem.

I will agree to your statement only when this game will have a realistic physics model. Right now it has only tyre grip. Also, there are enough performance parts as they are, so there is no need to link performance to a big spoiler.

Adding everything to some cars does make them trickier to handle.

My Ruiner, Comet and Sabre all seemed more tail happy when fully loaded. Maybe it was placebo , but I felt I had to kind of learn to drive them again.

@PCM: you should start a thread in the meetups section looking for someone to trade wins with you. I and many others have done this. Fixing races is cheating, but it's well within the "spirit" of the game. You'll probably get a bit of hate on your thread, but f*ck them.

Ugh, this isn't Gran Turismo, no need to go in extreme details. I don't want drawbacks on upgrades in video games like GTA, no-no.

OP don't know sh!t about real life racing. His list is crap. I race sportbikes and cars. It's not easy to make everything work. There's this thing called tuning. LSC tunes the vehicle automatically like how it was in MC:LA. This isn't Gran Turismo. Only thing GTA5 racing needs is manual transmission. Automatic cars and scooter suck in real life for racing.

This is a game with dozens of activities. The better they are individually, the more detail in them, the better the game gets.

Gta cant be a bunch of half assed sh*t stick together. Half assed features get ignored and forgotten.

There´s a reason why triathlons were a total failure but on the other hand golf has activity (despite being way less popular and much more slow paced sport): triathlon was a piece of sh*t stuck together, the cycling bit is outrageously simple and lacks any sort of detail. Instead they went a bit deeper with golf (wind, different kinds of hits, half decent physics, the acticity resembles a bit the actual one) and people that try it are enjoying it.

There shouldn't be a penalty for having all the upgrades. It would complete bull to spend all that time in races to unlock them just to be punished.

No, they would be better with your style of racing. If you like long races, go for top speed, if you like short races with a lot of turns, go with acceleration and spoilers. It would make racing way more interesting than no modded cars and full modded cars.

No. I didn't spend all that time unlocking them to not be able to use them all. The system is fine the way it is... you want more in-depth racing then go play the simulators.

All that time unlocking them? I got them all like the 2nd week of release. Maybe you need to work on your driving skills before you talk about unlocking mods.

only has tyre grip? Are you serious? There are over 50 performance characteristics on each vehicle, from mass to Buoyancy to the offset of the seat!

It's GTA, not a racing game, but it still has a pretty complex physics engine.
