the over exagerration of the NPCs makes the game feel a bit too satirical and takes away from some of the realism and immersion? it seems to bug me in both single player and online. when i saw some gameplay of watch dogs, the reactions of the people felt very realistic. the problem in gta 5 is that the peds don't act like how they would in real life. for example, it's not realistic for me to point a gun at you and you hunch over forward in fear rather than instantly running away or putting your hands up. even san andreas feels superior to this game in terms of pedestrian reactions. or how i aimed a gun at a ped and one of the witnesses across the street yelled out "sh*tsticks!" and then proceeded to run away casually without actually screaming at the sight of a gun. imo, Rockstar should have only used humor and satire in the billboards and commercials in the game, not the actual ped reactions or conversations. it isn't realistic, it's just annoying. which doesn's make sense in a gta game. i liked how in san andreas the humor was kept at a reasonable level and was only used in moderation, instead of over-saturating the game with cheesiness. agree or disagree?

i would like to add to this.

when the npc drives into your car and you cant push them out of your way but they can keep knocking your car back down the street.

The conversations should remain humouristic, but you're absolutely right about the reactions. They all react the same as well. I wish it was like in SA, or even IV. But the thing that bugs me the most is that annoying "X" to confirm your kills. It's so utterly stupid I have no words for it. All I want to do is watch my victims fall, watch the bullet impact, see how realistic this goes, but there is a huge X in front of it. I loved just shooting people in different places to see how they'd react in RDR, it's a pity that I won't be able to do so in V (even though the shooting mechanics in RDR seem to be superior anyway)

Really NPC in a VIDEO game don't act like they would in real life?

Shocking!

There's this thing called Realism. I think you should go look up the definition sometime.

You do realise that part of the GTA games is to take preconceptions of America and exagerate them in to add a humorous element to the games?

It's weird cause you could turn the x off in Max Payne 3, but in this game there's no such option. And don't forget that screen flash.

On the topic of peds, I agree that they all have the same reaction. They can look very different, but behave in nearly the exact same way. Even all the NPCs seem to have the same accuracy with weapons as the military. Odd design choices/oversights.

You mean the entire concept of the GTA series has gone way over most players heads? IMPOSSIBRU!

The NPCs have been greatly improved from previous GTAs, there's so much variety of them from the ghetto ones in downtown LS, rich folks in Richman, Rednecks in Blaine county, Beach loving individuals you see at Vespucci Beach etc. I highly doubt Watch dogs is gonna top that kind of variety but I have to admit that some of the things NPCs do in this game is flawed such as when you do a burnout near them, they'll drop whatever item is on their hands and start running away screaming or stand next to them for a short period of time and "that's it! I am calling the cops" and the one i find hilarious is when you point a gun at them while they're at a stop sign, they back up and exit their vehicle to make a run for it  but I do like the humor they have such as the mexican guy who randomly yells, "f*ck ME IN THE ASS!" always cracks me up

i think you're all missing the point. i know that it's a game and a satirical one but the satire is overdone and it feels like too much compared to previous installments. like i said, im ok with satire in billboards and advertisements, but not the peds. hearing someone boast about their "big t*tties" over a cell phone breaks immersion and so does a corny remark made by a ped when i aim a gun at him.

it looks like China needs a piece of its wall back? I would've read the OP. I really would have... if it wasn't a huge block of text.

Complaining about that brick is as legit as it gets.

...lol "bro", no, I didn't, I phrased it to follow on from the title, however my opinion relating to the topic of the thread itself is undeserved
