Pink Slip racing requires "Ghosting"

I have heard many people talk about a possible future DLC that includes pink slips. This could be awesome, BUT....there is no way anyone in their right mind would bet their prized car in a race that allows ramming and crashing into each other.

If they really want this pink slips racing to work, they need to add a ghosting feature in those races...that way the best driver wins. Ghosting is the ONLY way pink slips would work. Racing would be much more fun if they just added ghosting to all races anyway. This feature forces people to learn to drive and race on the track instead of just ramming everyone they see. I have lost many races because I was 1st place towards the last corner, only to have some idiot use me as a bumper on a corner and ram me off the road. There is nothing you can do about it, and it happens all the time.

The best way to win a race, unfortunately, is to stay in 2nd or 3rd place and then ram the drivers ahead of you toward the end. If you don't do it to them, they WILL do it to you.

I have quit racing in this game because there is very few people that race fair and win with skill. Ghosting is needed in this game. Racing would take a big jump up in interest level if they added this feature.

Couldn't agree more, at least make it an option like catchup

Catch up needs to go. Horrible feature.

I agree with you OP, ghosting would be really neat, just today I was racing on the track "4-way madness" for just the second time and there was this asshole who tried to ram me when we were at the last corner towards the finish line, luckily I slowed down and he went skidding off the track and finished in 7th place, serves him right for trying to be a dick

It's horrible but it should stay. It's still an option.

About ghost mode, it should be a must in racing games, so yeah, I would like to have it in V's racing.

maybe you're looking at it wrong

you keep saying racing requires no skill and all that nonsense

ofcourse you might have a point if you're talking about F1 or some other serious racing league like that

but racing is gta is like a destruction derby or something

it does require skills but it's a whole different skill set than the one needed for the more traditional racing.

ofcourse there's always a bit of luck but again it's all part of the game (and IMO the fun)

if you don't like it you shouldn't do it

but don't be a hater just because you suck at ramming XD

That won't work against better racers. If you can pass them, pass em. Going for a ram is risky because it can easily back fire.

Also.. NO to ghost racing. Theres no such thing as ghost racing.

Yes, that would work.

What I'm curious as to these pink slip races is, will this only function on a 1v1 race or will there be multiple drivers, if so how will it work.

I can already see this as a method of rigged races as in, a rich friend giving a poorer friend a fancy car.

We also might get a new duplication glitch as in, even if you lose, you don't lose your car but the winner still got your duplicated one. Disconnecting the wire before it saves that you lost or something to do with the Playstation store.

If it will be 1v1 without ghosting then it will be a fair challenge (in a way)

Because be it 4 drivers, 3 of which are together, 1 focusing on winning while the other 2 focusing on bringing the other one down would be another feature on the ''Griefing Degenerates Pile''

Also, will the races be impromptu free roam ones or actual ones, even if there are actual ones and accessible to player created races, one could arrange a 1v1 race designed specifically for the host which he constructed traps and other faults only he knows how to go around.

Balance and glitch patching will be the challenge in this.

I propose it being a 2 player challenge. The only available pink slip races would be Rockstar Created ones. If you do not have an empty garage space you cannot enter pink slip races. That's it. Simplest solution.

P.S. I can already see the griefing threads: ''I won this noob's Tailgater/Buffalo, soon as we got to free roam I enjoyed destroying/chroming it infront of him and laughing at him.''

Seeing as half of this forum is full of lost souls.

Ramming does not require skill. I never said racing doesn't take skill...ramming doesn't take skill. Any jackass can stay on your ass until the right time and then ram you off the road. No skill required for that...anyone that thinks it does take skill is kidding themselves.

Except time trials is not a race. Its a time trial.

To me a street race is between 2 or more players at the same time. Not their shadows or their times.

Which to me, if they make races for slips. Would only make sense in head to head racing.

Any jackass can stay on your ass until the right time and then ram you off the road. No skill required for that...anyone that thinks it does take skill is kidding themselves.

If a jackass can stay on your ass all the way through real races, like "Through the Grapevine" then he has skills.

If he rams you, hes just an asshole.

And if you counter it... Hes a butsa.

:D

Yeah I don't know man, I'm not really a fan of potentially losing a vehicle because I was rammed off the road. Maybe if there's some built in game rule that nullifies the race if there's contact with the other persons vehicle? It's just too cheap. I can hit anyone going into a corner and I'm pretty much guaranteed they'll get the worst of it and that isn't exactly fair.

In real life, most pink slip races are drag races and racers are obviously not going to be hitting into each other and that's where real life and GTA differ.

that's where you're wrong

have you even played this game?

you'd only have to play a single race to see a dozen people fly off track while trying to ram some1

like voodu said ramming can be a risky manouvre and there's a lot of variables

and than there's defensive driving, if some1 rams you it doesnt have to mean end of race for you

if you play it right he might end up doing a 180 and end up in a ditch.

you keep acting like racing and ramming are two completely different things but they couldn't be more connected

ramming is a part of racing in gta,so get better at it or shut up and go play forza with all your leet racing skills

or just keep raging every time I skillfully put you on the side of the road where you belong XD

I race without ramming and I do fine, in fact I win 1 out of 3 races.

I'm not saying you should ram every1 in order to win races

most idiots that do that never win a race

I'm saying ramming is a part of gta racing and it will happen and you just have to deal with it.

wouldn't you agree?

I think Slips racing will be for really rich/bored racers. Looking for an extra bit of thrill to their races. Basically these will be big money races..

Players will obviously need to open up a spot in their garage to save that vehicle if they win.

I don't think pinks slip racing will be for casual, broke players or non racers. Just something to add a bit of spice to bored rich racers.

I guess the best thing to do is know your racer. If hes cool, you know it will be clean and chances are both sides don't really care about loosing a car.

If its personal kind of Fast and Furious 3 style race, against players you don't like. Ramming will just come with the territory.

Either way.. It could be fun.

OP, ghosting is too unrealistic for my taste, but I'm partial to kracus' suggestion, even an insignificant bump to another racer triggers disqualification.

Have the players start at opposite ends of the track... you'll only see each other once :) There's no way I'll be doing pink slip racing if some scrub can just ram me around.

You should not be racing scrubs for slips tho. Scrubs are for pubs.

I agree with that but I wouldn't agree with racing for pink slips with some random scrub if those are the rules we're playing by.

That wouldn't work because a game cannot detect intentional bumping.

There is skill in knocking someone out of a race, and also skill in looking behind you to try to counter it before it happens. The way you suggest, you might as well just race alone and post your lap time with other players who do the same. Pink slip racing already exists... If you beat me, I'll let you copy my car by glitching it into your garage. Welch on a debt and the Mercs will be coming for you. ;)

That's the point, any bumping disqualifies a pink slip race. Intentional or not.

I would not race any ghost but mine (I'd like that feature). I would love the option to race for pinks, would hardly ever do it but I'd love the option. I'd never race against a ghost though.

I think much better would be to set a minimum entry fee that goes into the prize pot. I would EASILY pay 10,000 to get into a race where everyone was dropping that much and first place got 50-75k.

So if we both take a turn, and I touch you by accident the whole race cancels?

Screw that :l

It takes FAR more skill to avoid being rammed than it does to ram someone off the road. That's part of the problem here.

Even if they did add 'ghosting' and removed catch up, I dont see many people putting there prize car up for grabs.

Plus you also have to remember is what could we do with these cars if we already have a version of that car and we dont want to keep it or we already have a full garage? Then what? You could sell the car but lets says its a Entity I won online and I want to sell it. I'm only going to get $10,000 for it. It just seems that if they added it with the way things are at the minute that risking a vehicle you own is alot more risky than what you would get in return for winning someone else's car.

Its probably going to be like the Impromptu races they have now. See some guy driving around, challenge him for slips.

I cant wait for it personally. Dat thrill of losing your car.
