Fire hydrant + sticky bomb = proxy mine

Recommended Posts

My Rube Goldberg experiments led me on a hunt for fire hydrants online, although a rare breed they do exist. So once I found a couple, knowing that the water spout will detonate a sticky bomb (thank you gta mythbusters) I proceeded to test. What I quickly realized is that planting a sticky on a hydrant results in instant detonation when the hydrant is run over.

THE MORE YOU KNOW! ;)

Ps if you know where there's more hydrants besides Lester's warehouse and beside the golf course let me know. Better yet gimme a link to a snapmatic of it. Keep it real u dirty freaks.

Nice work. Like that idea.

Yeah but if you die after planting the sticky bombs they become inactive.

I didn't say it was a super effective way to troll but when the stars align, you remember this thread, gta magic happens, then u may just get a fire hydrant kill.

Probably the best use of this is standing around behind a hydrant baiting someone to run you over. Not sure if stickies remain active once you enable passive mode. If so definately the best use.

Don't sticky bombs have a time limit?

Or despawn after a distance?

Gonna test this out. Will park my car in Paleto Bay, plant a stickybomb near it but not on it since maybe contact with a car that doesn't despawn (player vehicle) maybe affect the out come, fly over to Los Santos Airport then detonate it. Will do this a few times. Sticky ON the car, sticky near the car, sticky to wait for time limit if there is one.

No time limit or distance limit as far as I am aware, just the disappearing stickies when you die.

this brings me to another question; let's say i'm in the firetruck, and i tag someone's PV with a sticky, then blow it up with the water canon, or hose, or whatever it's called (me no good engrish), which also provides a water stream like a broken hydrant, would i then have to pay the insurance? and what if someone else hit the my sticky with the water thingy?

I'm not really in to blowing up PVs, but this sure sparked my curiosity...

Time to experiment.

This could be interesting setting it up.

The area of the map where you walk out of the bank with a minigun in SP has a few fire hydrants.

Just tested water cannon from fire truck doesn't blow up stickies. So that's out.

I did hunt tons of hydrants though and they really only seem to be in the northwest part of the city near the golf course and grave yard.

And hydrants are not in the same places in story mode as online, see my spot the difference thread for examples.

What I really question is if you ghost ride a pv into a rigged hydrant do you pay insurance? Maybe that's why there's so few on the east side by the impound. Because I would have been able to test the hell out of that if there were.
