while I do agree that in a game where hostility is a large part of it, so is socializing, meeting new people....ive been looking for a good crew for a while but cant find one because 99.9% of people not on my friends list kills me the instant they see me. instead of seeing whether I was a threat or not. I try and give people a chance but no matter what u do it seems it will be met with hostility. so I just keep playing my way in the hopes that eventually i'll find some like minded players. so far I have (most from this forum) and they are great allies, but I could always use more (mskinky91 on psn)

Alternatively, keep switching until you get a calm lobby. It's timeconsuming, but if your friends are busy, this is one way to play with peeps.

As stated above, the game is GTA.

Your decision to engage the player with messages - not one, but several - and push the other player for an explanations and then lecture him suggests you don't understand this.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but it's like somebody bumping you on the subway and then following them to their station, getting off, and confronting them, saying, "Why did you bump me?"

I'm totally open to being corrected if I did read it wrong. But to me he/she stated that public free-roam isn't for somebody who doesn't want to engage in fights. The question isn't why shouldn't people use free-roam for non PvP. Nobody is saying you can't. Just keep in mind that it's a PUBLIC lobby and other players interests might conflict with yours.

 

What he/she actually said is that free-roam is clearly designed with PvP in mind and that at some point you're probably going to have to defend yourself. If you want to avoid that altogether then you don't really want to play with the 'public'.

 

PvP is one of free-roams' many functions with access to a large variety of weapons, tanks, fighter jets, locations which provide vantage points, vehicles with armour, appear off radar functionality, muggers, mercenaries. It even keeps score of who has more kills.

Take my advice and use the Groups and meet-ups section on these forums to try to meet some like minded friends for some fun activities. That is usually what I do when I'm lookin for some fun races/car meets or anything that isn't PVP related. Its a pain to do and you'll likely never be with 16 players but it beats being run over in passive mode in a public lobby trying to make some friends.
