Ask HackMan that, it's his work, not ours to release. But he's always been happy to help anyone who asked him.

 

I helping to people too when they asking me normal. Everyone who asked for LCS/VCS map - got it (before I released all the maps). VCS team asked for generic collisions - they got them. LCS on VC team asked for lcs wheels - I've converted them. And after that I'm a bad Russian nationalist which ruining gtamodding and etc.

It was published. Not officially or up to any site. It's on a page in the VCS PCE thread and the link is down. I doubt hackman even uses/has it anymore but it technically did come out.

MAJEST1C, you should just release your source and information that you have for LCS. NT offered to fix your collision problem for you.

 

Placement data for coll? Couldn't you make blank dff's and have col's assigned to those objects and place those? You'd probably need to up limits a bit.

no need for that if you can just hook the exe, which is what I was intending to do WITH SAID COLLISION PLACEMENT INFORMATION

1) Download/convert the map (lets say you chosen INDUST (Portland) )

2) Make IMG archive, name it "indust.img" and place all DFFs and TXDs into in. Place this IMG (and DIR if you want to place map in 3/VC) into ..data/maps/indust

3) Place indust.ide indust.ipl and blank indust.col into ..data/maps/indust too

4) in data folder open gta3.dat/gtavc.dat/gta.dat and write this lines:

for 3 or VC:

CDIMAGE DATA\MAPS\IDUST\INDUST.IMG

IMAGEPATH DATA\MAPS\IDUST\INDUST.DIR

for SA:

IMG DATA\MAPS\IDUST\INDUST.IMG

find where IDEs defined and write this at the end of block:

IDE DATA\MAPS\INDUST\INDUST.IDE

find where IPLs defined and write this at the end of block:

IPL DATA\MAPS\INDUST\INDUST.IPL

 

If all done right - game should run (VC/SA, gta3 is not tested yet because there is no Map Cleaner for it).

Just to also note, Silent has been open in the past with whatever he's worked out and fixed, the only stuff not released is pretty much mod specific stuff like SPTA (which is used so we can pack it without having a load of PNGs all over the place and also so we can pack it in a correct archive style), however Silent has been open to letting other people use the PNG code so you can use PNG's instead of TXD's for non streaming assets.

 

Audio stuff was developed by LINK and further tweaked, we don't own it, we're just putting it to maximum use for full potential but again if somebody else wants to use it, they can. OpCodes and other stuff Silent has been open about, even helping with the OpenIV team to export Max Payne 3 stuff, etc.

 

We're here to help each other, the only thing VCS PCE gets away with is execution because we're using a lot of ideas and working them out as close to native as possible, which is more a specific mod thing, but most things have been open, source released and shared between other modders.

 

There's just something about Russian modders though, amazingly skilled, people like Dageron, XEPO, etc, but for some reason, don't want to tell how they worked this stuff out, or are very vague about it, comes off as very unhelpful, which, especially considering the Stories formats, stagnated them for years, if a lot of that stuff was shared and made public earlier on, we'd be like two years ahead now with a lot of these projects.

 

I don't know if it comes down to a language thing, because honestly, I WAS apart of the old LCS projects going back to like 2007, when CatZilla ran it, and I was on their forums, etc, and it seemed like because I didn't speak Russian, I was often ignored and the English part of the forum was just dead and eventually this lack of communication just lead to it all dying out because no one really knew what to do. And I get that idea now, I assume you have done some documentation on this Majestic, but only in your native tongue, which, unless you're Russian, is going to be near useless for other people. Not trying to push some English language agenda here, but it IS the most common language for a reason, many people had to learn it, may modders did, NTA, Silent, etc, because it makes communication easier between all parties. And Maximum Communication allows greater progress in these sort of areas.

I agree, but Majestic is probably the only Russian modder I know that released his tool, without the whole "luk what I cen do u no can do dis" attitude. So thumbs up to you Majestic.

From all Russian modders that worked with Stories files, Majestic released tool for anyone and also convert maps of LCS/VCS to all 3d Universe GTA on PC. I just asked about connecting lods, colls and normal models to same format like III/VC/SA uses.

We wanted to finish the map first before it started to appear in RAGE mods. Plus we made improvements to the map, fixing mistakes and texture errors.

 

You and Nazness, etc thought you could just steal the map and not give credit because "it's Rockstars work".

 

Plus I predicted when this was released that there would be a lot of copycat clones, and yep, look at all those LCS and VCS mods now. I can't complain, since they all appear to be taking the easy route so their maps are full of bugs and errors on top of the Rockstar mistakes.

 

We put effort into our work, CP and Luten can tell you that we go over each area like crazy, more so now that the maps are public, we have to give people a reason to use ours, and that means making it the best quality wise.

 

Don't worry, I'm sure you can rip our map and do your RAGE version one day.

Lol, just hearing that Nazness was apart of this group of people already says bad things to me. He would've boosted every VCS texture to 2048x2048 or not even used them because they're not HD, maybe scale the map to 3x its normal size.

They were different attempts. I can't remember when Garju wanted it, but I do remember after Beta 3 was released, Nazness started his own VCS RAGE project, posting updates over Facebook and calling us a sh*tty team for locking him out if Rockstars work which he has a right to convert, etc.

also, if you could know how many creative modification ideas I've had that have gotten ruined by Russian developers releasing tools that had obvious limitations, where my purpose was outside of their scope to fix, and that I could easily do myself IF THEY'D ONLY HAVE PUBLISHED THEIR SOURCE CODE OR AT LEAST SUFFICIENT FORMAT DOCUMENTATION, you'd probably still not care because that's how nationalist most Russians are.

 

fun fact: ViIV was entirely made possible by the author of xdr2obj having open sourced his code for people to learn from and use, which is the entire point of GTA modification, cooperation, not 'keeping this sh*t to myself haha figure it out yourself' like you and the OpenIV team appear to do...

Fun fact: You never asks for any documentation from me or my team. You never tells to me that you have issues with OpenIV workflow.

Really, even when I ask you to tell your suggestions for OpenIV, what did you do? Nothing.

I'm sure you talking not about OpenIV and my team, right?

 

I think that one is aimed at XEPO, who for years dangled his tools in front of people here on GTAF, showing how well he knew and could export Stories formats, etc, but never did anything with them and wouldn't let anyone else use them unless he could be in charge of the mods.

I never said I could steal your work and use it because it's "Rockstar work" somebody else said that and I think we both know who it is. To me conversions are not only "Rockstar work", that's not how I see them.

What's your problem with others LCS/VCS mods by the way ? If their maps are "full of bugs and errors" then just leave them and focus on your VCS mod.

I am not interested in making VCS in RAGE anymore, I was before, plus if I really wanted to use VCS PC Edition in a mod I could have done it long time ago, permission or not, but I'm not a stealer you should already know this.

I have no problem with other LCS/VCS aside from the fact that they're only being done because they've taken the easy way out. Say what you will about other LCS and VCS mods BEFORE Majestic released this, but at least they put some effort into it and worked at it, now, any ole modder can just take these maps and start a new LCS/VCS conversion and expect the same amount of praise. It devalues effort of other mods. I was worried at first because I thought we'd have to rush ours, but in hindsight, we actually scrapped any release plans because we can sit back and take our time still, if people want a quick dumped map, they have it all over the place now, literally like 4 different VCS mods to choose from if they want the map. Us, we're taking our time, fixing stuff, etc, so we're still working along fine.

 

It's worth to note, we STILL haven't released a complete map, so the threat about you using the map if you actually wanted to strikes back to the first reason, we're not letting anyone take an incomplete map, AFTER the map is done and released, if someone wants to use it, maybe, but now they don't have to wait for our version, they can just dump out one of Majestics ones.

Actually, you still have to put in work, the San Andreas version doesn't have 1 LOD set... So its just one big hole. Also, the paths aren't present, neither the peds, nor the vehicles, no collisions are present on the map either. So it does actually take some time, BUT not the same amount of time it took you guys to do it. :p

If NTA had a better explanation with the source, he'd probably work a way to export the collisions automatically in the set to, that's why he was pissed, because he could help out but there's no actual documentation on it.

 

Vehicles are being done by Majestic and given out, I assume peds will be to, since he wants to be a one man VCS Exporter. LODs are a strange one, they should be able to be exported to as we're doing them and very boringly matching them up ourselves.

Are you jealous? I'm convert VCS cars myself and give it to VCS on VC team because they needed them now but I can't give to them my MDL Importer because it NOT f*ckING FINISHED!

Not jealous, just dissatisfied. And going by Garju's logic, you're being selfish for not allowing people to use unfinished work!! How dare you!

 

PS: You're also doing something wrong with the vehicle you've exported, but I'll let you figure that out.

The wheels? Already posted, VC doesn't require cars being rigged with a wheel, the wheels are in a separate dff file.

The reflections? People can fix that themselves.

 

And the tool most probably has bugs, so let him patch it up. VCS PC Edition wouldn't be released with bugs, now would it? :p

When no one doing tools for Stories - all dont give a f*ck, but when somebody starts to making tools - for some reason everybody are dissatisfied. Where the f*cking logic?

I didn't want to intrude into this, but there's one thing i want to clarify. MAJEST1C_R3 provided a link with a russian LCS documentation, but i haven't found anything related to stories COL format, except that this page says some *.col files can be viewed(not sure about export) via this tool, made by XEPOMAHT007. There's no public info about stories collisions, or am i wrong?
