K/D Ratio

A high K/D just shows that you're one of those fools who attack other players out of nowhere, grief in a tank or bunch up on a player with an entire clan. A high K/D might even be a bad thing in GTA.

Wow.. 70's music fanboy... That's not entirely true. What is true though is that it doesn't say anything objective about skills.

You must not be speaking about yourself.

Last night someone placed a bounty on me. I joined a quick play mission and was teleported to one of the rural towns. Called for my rhino tank and once safe inside I drove back to LS. As soon as I entered the city people started chasing me. I killed around 20 people before the tank began to smoke and I left to play a mission. Repeat this procedure and you'll easily survive a bounty.

20 people to no deaths, done repeatedly? Sounds like padding your K/D ratio to me, and making easy profit at the same time.

What Tenpennyisplainevil said is true in many cases. No, not in all, because a small amount of people have the skill to maintain high K/D ratios. But most of the players that have the high K/D ratios, you see going around in tanks and buzzards killing everyone in sight. So yes, a high K/D is by no means a good thing and can be evident of a bad player.

My K/D is 1.8, and I'm happy to be there. Not too high, and not too low. :D

Nice detective work. There should be a stat for that as well. I really just play the game so I get killed as little as possible. Sometimes that involves getting a tank.

Edit: there's a big difference between getting a tank when you have a bounty on you for protection and getting one just to spawnkill other players. My relatively high K/D ratio is a result of rooftop sniping and not tank killing.

Also I don't play the game following some arbitrary codex of morality.

Which is the 500 pound elephant in the room, and is the actual reason behind almost every single complaint made about how GTA5 freeroam works.

If players had a sense of morality, players wouldn't complain about the tank, or buzzards, or spawn killing, or sticky bombs, or rooftop sniping, or kids playing, or the people that call everyone gay. Because there wouldn't be any abuse or negative interaction between players. As far as I can tell, the players complaining about those things are the ones that have a sense of morality. The ones that defend it are most often the ones that abuse it.

Stating this in no way implies that I want all of those things taken away. I'm just telling facts. It's not the game that's bad, it's the players that play the game bad. Get rid of that and no one would be left to complain. But then we'd have no use for discussion forums like this, right? So no place for people to compare the sizes of their e-wankers. And that would just be tragic. :D

In a game like GTAO I'm happy with a K/D of 1.00, which is exactly what I have.

I just like to settle scores, not trying to be Ghengis Khan or anything.

Edit: In deathmatch I shoot for much higher and it's probably closer to 2.00-3.00

Sorry, forgot this was an internet forum. Logic and common sense not allowed. My bad yo.

It's just pointless discussing a complex concept like morality based on behavior in a videogame where the most severe consequences of immoral actions is that people get irritated and maybe have to change sessions.

yeah talk about morality in GTA

nice one

want a peaceful "GTA"?

there you have it:

k/d ratio is only impressive if you have a very high amount of kills (10000+) and don't have more than let's say 1000 tank kills...

but let me tell you... snipers will usually have a higher k/d ratio than other players (on foot), mine is above average, mainly because I snipe or troll people with weird stuff (example: friend drives a truck and I'm on top of it, killing people with a rifle -> better than normal drive by since you can lock on people with other guns than the AP pistol ;) )

I rarely use a tank or buzzard/jet, yes it's possible to get a higher k/d without tanks! Of course, I also do massive gunfights, that's what this game is there for. The ratio usually drops after a long "war"-session, but I don't really care about it.

I play the way I like to play the game, and everyone should do so. Just not those who want to play peacefully in freeroam, I chase those guys down because they can go to solo sessions if they don't like it :)

I love searching for people with high k/d's to let it drop a little ;) those are the guys that usually rage the most, so it's a good thing, that K/D ratio :D

I didn't even know there was a K/D stat. Still do not care for it in a game like this.

I bet mine's somewhere in the .42 range since I never kill people with guns intentionally. I just run over idiots who happen to be standing in the middle of the road. That's about all the killing i do.

Worrying about the K/D ratio can ruin the game experience since you are constantly worried about killing and not dying instead of having fun like you should be doing.
