If Mansions Existed in Online (A wish list of features)

Recommended Posts

Okay, so there is a lot of 'here say' about the status of mansions being included in the online portion of GTA5. This thread is just for those who would like to talk to one another, about what would be awesome if these residential area's were made functional. I will post my batch of theories on it, feel free to do the same.

Why it could be awesome:

* The mansions could be an upgrade to the 'now' grandest apartments.

* Instead of 10 space garage, you could have x2 10 car garages.

* Mansions could be affected by the supposed 'Casino' update, with poker tables and such. (Private high stakes poker games?)
* Theater Room (allow social club video's to be played through phone recordings)

* What about a functional mechanic in the garage? Be able to mod your vehicle as if in a LSC.

So what are your thoughts on the topic? Please, come in. Let me know.

P.S. : I know it is all speculation, but we can have a little fun with it.

Okay, I feel as if I have to reiterate this point I made at the beginning of the thread.

THIS IS NOT A DEBATE OF WHETHER THEY WILL EXIST, OR A RE-EXAMINING OF THE ACTUAL APARTMENTS.

This is a thread where, for a moment, we are going to pretend that R* was all go's on having mansions in the game.

If you want to argue why it wouldn't work, make your own damn thread, and get the hell out of mine.

If this is beyond your ability of an imagination, I feel sorry for you but we need to keep the thread on the original purpose.

i thoroughly believe rockstar will never program such things

In here, we are not debating the likelyhood of the event. We are just, for a moment, going to pretend that R* confirmed it. Use your imagination for a moment. :/

i dont think i have ever seen a thread like this before

Half of me is leaning towards sarcasm (In that case, you're a douche bag), then the other half of me is leaning towards genuine comment... I will be utterly surprised if it's the latter.

I have no idea how they can possibly install mansions since its hard to have multiple people in a session share the same house. Works well with an apartment concept since its essentially just that, a multi tenant building.

That aside, I only wish we could decorate the apartments to our liking:

Buy an apartment, end up with the same space now, but blank.

Decorate each room from templates, example.. the Heist room.

It starts as four white walls.

I could purchase the "Rockstar" template, filled with skateboards and gold records. Basically the current verison.

I could purchase the "Lester" template, filled with rack mounted computer and video gear.

I could purchase the "Boardroom" template, a large, bare, table with laptops and a map on it.

Etc.

Carry that through the rest of the house. So if I don't want that terrible "ultra modern" living room, I could purchase "college fratbrah" template, milkcrate shelving with a big TV and video game, or the "Weeaboo" template, Asian inspired art and some flea market katanas, etc etc etc.

This would allow us to have SOME customization, while keeping coding duties light on the developer end.

I hate that everyone's apartment has the same sh*tty designer, nearly as much as I hate the awful movie posters hanging in the middle tier apartment.

On your thought about the difficulties of instancing multiple mansions in one session, I actually had a working theory on how they could treat that.

Instead of having the whole mansion interior model and what not exist in the same instance as the rest of the city, you just make it a separate instance in which the driver pulls up to the gate. The gate loads the player in like the apartments do.

I believe this could be a functional way of handling this issue (with apartments, garages, and multiple mansions, what is truly the odds of having all 16 players in a lobby own the same building? That would cut down on some of the awkwardness.).

I'd like to see a 20+ car garage, a pool, some indoor activities like maybe a pool table or poker table, a helipad on the roof, a boat dock out back if it's on the water. the helipad and boat dock would work similar to pegasis. you walk up to a spot and a spawn list of your boats/helicopters appears and you choose which one you want to spawn.

Loading the heli's into the game space would be somewhat of a challenge. How would you handle spawning the heli into the world without it looking awkward. Good idea's though!

If we ever had a mansion to buy, this would be a crowded place devoid of ownership logic, when this mansion is bought by multiple guys and random people loitering on your lawn.

As for the interiors... Would be cool to have a pool-, craps-, poker table or the dartboard/driving range on balcony to shoot some windows in the neighbour building/drop stuff from above.

Also a pool deep enough to park the yacht submarine and keep it there. For decorative reasons, like Michael.

Lol, yeah that is why I had came up with the idea of storing even the exterior of the mansion on a separate instance. Everything within the gated residence, even the front and back yard.

maybe as soon as you spawn the heli, there is a small cut scene of you entering it and as soon as you're in control of it, you're back in the open world. it would only appear weird to someone standing near your property who could see the heli appear out of thin air on the roof. that isn't much different than a car appearing out of thin air on the street imo.

Twilight Zone mansion? But how do you land helicopters with hookers on YOUR lawn?

Possibly, they would have to find a way to not make it seem strange for players already in the game space. It's a good idea though.

Inflatable hangar or the huge door in the ground that slides open and reveal a lift with your helicopter surfacing.

Sacrifices, you may need to make some, lol.

IMO Mansions would be cool if Rockstar just used:

  • The Playboy Mansion that is near the Uni
  • The Epsilon Mansion by Michaels house
  • One or Two of the big houses in the Vinewood Hills area

and put One or Two in Sandy Fields somewhere.

With:

  • 20 Car garage with the abilty to store all typs of vans as well as the usual vehicles + allow the use of the driveway for friends to park their vehicle (if it gets blown up then that person has to pay full cost and gets a auto 5k bounty).
  • Full Colour (Color for you non-british users) CCTV of the Gates etc.
  • Bring back the Pool table and allow us to play games (Maybe bet on a winner)
  • maybe Hire MerryWeather to guard the gates and attack anyone that open fires on the Mansion.

If you want to decorate your apt go play Animal Crossings hahaha

Apt or mansions the simple fact remains there is nothing to actually do or hold your interest inside these places.

The best thing R* has done is give us a new spawn location to actually spawn in the garage instead of the apartment.

Apartments are a worthless waste of code at this point, what am I going to drink some effing green juice that doesn't even heal me? Look out a stupid telescope at nothing? Sing in the shower and wash my balls? Sigh lame lame lame.

For those people that enjoy Animal Crossing and le to decorate and collect crap yeah I agree make it possible to buy decorations with cash card items!,!,

* Another cool idea that I thought of (I got the idea from PAYDAY 2), have a 'take' room. This would be a room that is a visual representation of your 'wealth' in game, that could change actively depending on how much money you possess from bank heists and what not.

* This one is a bit far out there, but I think it's cool none the less. Have actual drinking games you can participate in while inside the mansion with multiple players. Be able to play Beer Pong, Drunk Darts, and more.

* Another cool Idea that I think would be just...phenomenal... was if we could have a butler NPC by the name of 'Jeeves', who comments on what we are wearing, or our physical appearance (blood stains and what not).

F*cking air hockey. That's all I want from Rockstar.

when i was just a little sausage i was invited to my friends party at this huge arcade place, we were playing air hockey and i thought i had to reach inside the goal thing to take the puck out after he scored on me, i ended up getting my hand stuck inside and i had to leave lol

Why mansions though?

Why not that huge yacht you rescue Tracey off of in SP?

Or as a paid DLC, buy another design yacht. With the ability to move it around the map. Use a content creator-esque kind of thing being able to set a spawn point where you'd be teleported (on the coast of course) to when you drive out.

-20 car garage

-1 Helipad

-2 boat cranes

-1 Seashark mooring place.

-Pool

-Air hockey

-Customisable interiors.

Something like this: (with a 10 car garage would do me)

Awesome....unlikely, too demanding & did i say unlikely?

...but man is that f*cking awesome.

I hate that everyone's apartment has the same sh*tty designer, nearly as much as I hate the awful movie posters hanging in the middle tier apartment.

Making Mansions is easy.

Version 1:

Endless Mansions.

The Garden is a passive zone.

And you can get in through a teleporter.

Version 2:

16 identical mansions of every type.

Players get put there randomly when joining a session
