What radio stations do you like and hate the most?

I love Game Radio FM for it's hip hop, MSX FM for it's adrenaline pumping Drum & Bass, and Rise FM for it's cool Trance music.

I can dig Chatterbox FM but I usually change the channel instantly because I'm just not into it and I usually only listen to the first song on K-Jah Radio before changing the channel or I just do it instantly.

I don't care for Double Clef FM because it's not my thing nor do I care for Flashback FM because I just don't really dig the songs.

I really hate Head Radio in this game (the ones from GTA 1 & 2 are better imo) and I just don't like Lips 106 that much.

MSX FM is a Drum & Bass station and Drum & Bass is supposed to be fast-paced. Without the fast-pace, it's not Drum & Bass. As for the dude just yelling and sh*t, that's MC Codebreaker.

lmao how can you not tell the difference between one drum and bass song and another. and though i admit the guy in the background can get kinda annoying i like it. that dude is mc codebreaker btw.

lol how the f*ck can no one tell the difference between trance and drum and bass like really? also i can't believe that everyone here thinks that all of both genres sound the same. like holy sh*t how much crack are y'all on?

Probably they weren't thinking clearly what they were writing. When somebody doesn't like both MSX and Rise I can almost say this person hasn't listened the stations more than 10 min eachone so the first impression is that they sound equal. Those music styles are peculiar and you might not like them the first time you listen to but after some time they start to interest you. There's also the handicap that this music was on its peak at the time the game takes place and in the following years fastly decayed.

About MSX FM  it's early Drum & Bass and it just sounded like that back in the day (you have more diversity nowadays). As for the MC - I'm sure they made it intentionally to be that annoying (like a parody of a DnB MC) because there really are many annoying ones in real life. And btw there is a recorded set from last year with SPY and MC Codebreaker on the D&B Arena youtube channel and Codebreaker doesnt sound anything like his performance at MSX FM radio (another proof tha it was parody).

I'm into that type of music primarily for that high speed adrenaline action and I can tell you it's not for everyone. If you like it, cool if you don't, cool. Due to personal experiences we would most likely not get along if you don't like that type of music due our frequency and philosophy conflicts.

My least favorite is Flashback FM and Double Cleff FM. I don't dislike them. Huge difference.

That's why I like MSX, fast paced music for fast paced driving. And I use this type of music to workout, specially when I go running down a mountain.

Favorites: Head Radio, Flashback, Lips, Chatterbox, Rise. A few I only listen to certain songs so by naming the stations I remember the songs on them. I could listen to Chatterbox all day.

Least favorite: K-JAH, Game, MSX. I could probably leave it on the radio during a mission and wouldn't care though.

One of the songs on Double Clef was featured on the commercial for GTA lll. That makes me feel somewhat old.

I don't particularly like or hate any station from this game. GTA III was really subpar in terms of music in my honest opinion. This comes from the perspective of a person whose first game was Vice City, so since the beginning I was used to licensed music on the ingame radios.

Flashback, Head and Lips were probably the more akin to the music I listen to, but I don't have too much to say about them. One is basically the OST of a legendary movie, and the other two are some generic, early 2000's pop stations with music created for the game. K-JAH was pretty enjoyable at times. MSX, Game and Rise, well, I personally don't understand their appeal but I do understand their purpose. Plus, I can't tell the difference between MSX and Rise. Double Cleff was just there due to the Italian mob presence, and Chatterbox, I don't remember much about it, but people praise it constantly so maybe I should give it a listen sometime.

GTA III is pretty subpar when it comes to Radio stations. Still respectable regardless.

Yeah...I would say my most fav GTAs for radio are of course Vice City, some of San Andreas, lll and V.

MSX FM and Rise FM for its jungle, drum and bass, dance and electro music.

Flashback FM, Double Cleff and Lips 106 are in my ignore list because they don't suit my very strict criteria, (classical, 80s and pop are in my blacklist permanently).

Only Brits like me and many others listen to MSX because we started that shiz.

I wasn't born in the 80s and I don't listen to any music before 1996.

Honestly I believe GTA3's radio is considerably better than people give it credit for; firstly consider the game came out in 2001, Rockstar had been around for 3 years at this point with their biggest hits most likely being GTA 1/2 and Midnight Club so it's safe to say they'd made a bit of a name for themselves but not the somewhat household rep they have today and as such they probably wouldn't have the capability (or funds for that matter) to start licensing big commercial hits yet with III they still managed to hit a broad spectrum of genres that fit well within the time period for the game coupled with the fact they worked with independent artists/labels or straight up created radio stations themselves. For example;

MSX FM - Moving Shadow records from the UK with the radio being a shorter cut of DJ Timecode's 01.1 Mix and MC'ed by Codebreaker with lyrics specifically for the game.

Game Radio - Game Recordings out of New York, all the tracks off their label hosted by infamous Radio host Stretch along with Lord Sear.

Rise FM - Generation Records, label from Chicago. Same as above, all tracks off their label.

Head Radio - All original songs created for the game.

Lips - All original songs created for the game.

Chatterbox - Original talk show created for the game.

Double Clef - Public domain renditions of classical songs.

Flashback - 80's pop songs of which every track was produced by Giorgio Moroder and also featured in Scarface. The LCS rendition of Flashback is again also all Moroders own songs.

K-Jah - All tracks from the 1981 album "Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires" by Scientist.

I'm not saying GTA3's radio is perfect as it's definitely rough around the edges and no doubt some of those labels gave their music solely for the promotion but for the time period/rockstars relevance I think they curated a f*cking stellar soundtrack that fits the atmosphere of the game immensely.

Favorite radio stations - Flashback FM, Head Radio, Lips 106, Chatterbox FM, one song from Double Clef FM - the one that goes la la la la la la, i don't know the song title but I find it funny to listen to when driving around, especially when going around Portland with the mafia hating you and you get blown up by their shotguns :D. To see which song I'm talking about go to 18:20 on the video,

Least favorite - Everything else

I like all of the stations in this game but if I had to pick one I disliked, it would have to be Double Clef FM. Perfect for when I'm driving around in the Leone Sentinel near the mafia areas but I'd tune it out everywhere else.

The singer says it at the very beginning, it's La donna è mobile.

pure silence is probably the best radio station in GTA 3. most of the radio tracklists are like 5-7 songs long which makes you feel like you're on a brain melting loop. not to mention most of the music is straight up bad, game radio has some of the goofiest and stupidest rap i've ever heard in a video game.

oh yeah the custom radio station is pretty fun to make if you only pick songs from around the 2001 time period.
