Do the weapons feel "vague" to anyone else?

I don't know how to describe it, but since GTA V's release, to me, the weapons don't have much...I don't know, weight?

 

I don't know if it's the textures, the sounds, or what, but they all feel pretty much the same. By default, they're completely gray. Even with the color tints the rest of the weapon is pretty bland. Compared to IV or even Max Payne 3 the weapons don't seem that detailed this time around. Or maybe they do, I'm not sure.

 

Or it could be the sounds. The firing, the reloading sounds, the cocking clicks - all those seem "off?"

 

I don't know, I just can't describe it but I was hoping someone else would have a similar idea or feeling. I mean when playing IV I could feel a big difference when using the AK-47 or the M4. Or when I used to Glock or the Desert Eagle. But between the AK-47, M4, and that third machine gun, they all practically look and feel the same. The models, textures, and colors are pretty bland looking in-game.

 

Still, I'm not sure if that's it. Something about the weapons just doesn't seem right in V. This has been on my mind for a while, but I just haven't been able to put my finger on it.

Too many weapons that fire bullets quickly, not enough flamethrower.

 

Might be cuz everyone dies so fast it doesn't really matter what weapon you use as long as you hit the guy you're aiming for. I like duking it out with NOOSE; those guys can take a few shots without instantly dying and really give me a better sense in the differences between guns and of what works well and in what situations.

Shut the f*ck up, you never have anything worth while to read and you always put down people who have legitimate problems with this game. This game isn't what fans thought it was going to be. It was dumbed down for the casual gamer, so for things like this to be a problem is pretty major. Seeing your posts makes me truly wonder if you've ever actually played any Grand Theft Auto games pre-SA.

And contrary to this one thread I've made about an issue I have with V, most of the time I'm actually enjoying it. But god forbid someone has one issue with a supposed perfect game. I guess it's either sh*t or perfect around here, huh? At this point I'm starting to think you're just a troll with how you exaggerate everything and backtrack yourself.

 

I'm just trying to have a discussion here. I'm not mindlessly complaining about some trivial thing in the game. If you're not going to contribute to the discussion and just generalize everything while blowing off the thread, you should get the hell out. Or do you need someone to make that decision for you like always?

Yeah, with the new handling a lot of the vehicles feel the same since you can easily turn with all of them. There's a slight difference between offroad vehicles, but other than that most are just faster or slower.

 

But the weapons - it seems like most just have a different skin and model, and do more or less damage. I think it might be the models and textures though is what I'm noticing a lot. Each one is mostly gray compared to IV where each one had a unique look. The Glock with it's black sleek design, the Desert Eagle with it's matte and slight chrome finish, the AK-47 with the wooden stock etc.

I do enjoy the game, and I love it but just because I enjoy it doesn't mean I don't have my problems with it. The problems in this game, are quite major in some areas too, so don't even try to go around acting like this game is perfect. This game is FAR from perfect, and it's gameplay is pretty basic too. I'm sorry if you enjoy simple things, but for me Grand Theft Auto was never about simplicity. You need to realize that this game has flaws, and you have to accept, especially on a specific-game forum, that these flaws are going to be put into the light.

RDR and Max Payne 3 had superior gun effects/animations/feel. Yeah, I can't pinpoint it either but it is there...this is coming from someone who has spent a lot of time around firearms both civilian and military grade.

 

I don't know why, but it seems to be the case with every GTA, same with car sound effects. It's still a step up from GTAIV's pop guns though.

The hype was exactly R*'s fault. You don't need "high expectations" to assume that when R* say it's their most ambitious game, it should be their most ambitious game.

 

How about all the sh*t Rockstar say is in the game, to generate hype which end up being some lazy thrown-in feature or not there at all?

 

Let's see.

 

 

- Rockstar described their engine being able to run more physics, and that the new driving would not be dumbed down. That's completely bullsh*t. No, this isn't an opinion, it's a fact. It is a plain simple fact that GTAV's driving is dumbed down.

 

- All the pre-release screenshots that were touched-up. If Rockstar post a picture of their game involving a hugely detailed area with lots of trees, do you not think it's fair we should, you know, have a hugely detailed area with lots of trees?.

 

- "Rockstar's most deep and ambitious game". Yeah, no. I don't see anything ambitious about it. Driving mechanics are shallow, the story is shallow, the map is shallow and actually quite dead, the radio station music is shallow, and Online which was hyped us as being the ultimate online GTA experience, was just bullsh*t. It's GTA IV MP stripped of all competitive mode, with some copy-paste safehouses and a "community" experience that is not in the game. And if racing wasn't bad enough, they even added "Catchup"!

 

- How about NPC interaction? Rockstar shoehorned NPC interaction in all of their pre-release demos, with all of their NPCs doing different things at different times of day, with a litte more emphasis on date and time, such as traffic building up at rush hour.

 

No, I don't give a f*ck about whatever excuse you'll churn out. "Console limitations". That's like a restaurant serving this delicious meal, hyping it up to have everything, you go in expecting high class cuisine, and it ends up being cheese on toast. The chef's excuse is "Yeah the oven broke". No that's not a f*cking excuse, we paid full price for this meal and you're giving us cheese on f*cking toast. That's not how it works, Blood-Is-In-Diamond.

I'd like to be able to hit someone like 3 times with the melee weapons... that would be a start. There's no challenge when it comes to weapons it's just whoever shoots their gun first. The lack of chainsaws, flamethrowers and nail guns makes me sad.

GTA IV's AK and M4 are amazing. Not only do they have great secondary zoom, but they sound menacing too. GTA V's guns sound and feel like cap guns by comparison IMO.

Did you read Lazyboy's post? He named a bunch of things that Rockstar said that didn't happen/was dumbed down feature. Did you read right past that? Even the gameplay trailer lied in some places.

TBH, I think the problem is the health of the peds.

 

It doesn't matter what guns or weapons you use, they'll always die in the first 5 shots or 3 hits if you're using melee weapons.

What bothers me about weapons in game is that the melee ones are basically reskins of each other. Baseball Bat, Golf Club, Nightstick, Crowbar and Hammer are the same thing but with slightly different stats, models and textures.
