I also pull for Crafton in the Trucks. ThorSport should be interesting this year.

It's funny how last night I was reading all about the history of the #44 car, then right afterwards I see the Reddit post about the #9/#44 confusion. I hope the number changes to 44, because I hate the way the 9 looks with that font. I also can't associate the #9 with RPM. It's almost having a Gibbs car with the #3 or #24.

But yeah it could also be a third entry for the 500, possibly Truex.

I guess this means Team Xtreme is toast now. The car theft really hurt them.

Team xxxtreme has been a mess since day one, and I don't think the trailer and race car being stolen is the whole reason for them disappearing. The team owner, John Cohen had some legal stuff pop up not too long after the stuff with the trailer and car happened.

the funny thing about all that stuff with the #9 and #44 is when they announced Brian Scott as the driver in early December they had a #9 Twisted Tea car with them...

Richard Petty Motorsports has made it official - the #9 car of Brian Scott is being renumbered to #44.

- sorry for the massive post again, I still have not figured out how to do the "spoiler" tabs

Edited by kk9fan97
theGTAking101

When I first saw the new Ford nose, I thought it was terrible. But now after seeing it more it's starting to grow on me.

About the spoiler tabs, highlight the text/images you want to put in the spoiler, then click the third button (it's a square with blue, white and a green line going through it. It's also just to the left of the font option. It's called "Special BBCode") and select the spoiler option.

Kasey Kahne has a new sponsor. Joining Farmers Insurance, Great Clips, and new sponsor Quicken Loans, Panasonic Toughbook is going to be the primary sponsor on Kahne's car for two races.

They unveiled the paint scheme for it in a video on the Hendrick Motorsports instagram page - https://www.instagram.com/p/BAc34mWOOlO/

Also here are two new haulers, Jr. and Bowyer.

It turns out Clint still has quite a few races unsponsored. 5 Hour Energy and PEAK only share 26 races between them. I wonder what will fill the other races.

Kasey Kahne unveiled his new Quicken Loans Chevrolet in a video on Hendrick Motorsports twitter page - https://twitter.com/TeamHendrick/status/687321903074152448

It was announced that Ray Black, Jr. and SS Greenlight Racing are moving to the Xfinity Series full time.

Looks like Rico Abreu is taking over Sauter's Truck Series ride in the #98, good for him.

Chris Bueshcher now gets the Love's Travel Stop sponsor from Gilliland's old team. I wonder what's gonna happen with the #38 in terms of drivers and sponsorship.

I find that the paint scheme is a huge improvement: lUkzzyG.png

Here's Chase's new Kelley Blue Book car, I honestly don't like it. I thought Jr's was much better.

There's something about the #24 schemes this year, idk they just look weird. People on Reddit are complaining about the way the numbers look, and I agree they look weird without a border. But other than the number, I think his NAPA and 3M cars look decent. Nothing can be as bad as Jeff's 3M car.

Mountain Dew is going to be primary sponsor on three of the four Hendrick Motorsports cars for select races this year - #5 Kasey Kahne, #24 Chase Elliott, and #88 Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

It's part of a three year extension of Pepsi Co's agreement with Hendrick Motorsports. They will be primary sponsor for Kahne in one race for each the next three years, Elliott's for 2 races per year and on Junior's car for three races per year.

http://www.hendrickmotorsports.com/news/articles/61878/mountain-dew-extends-hendrick-motorsports-relationship-with-three-driver-lineup

This is the second time that Kahne will have Mountain Dew as a primary sponsor. They sponsored him back in 2004 and 2005 when he drove the #9 car for Everham Motorsports.

Man, I'm still holding out for Gordon to run the Shootout. One of his reasons for not wanting to run one-off races was because he didn't want to fund a new car and pit crew just to run one race. Well, the 24 car obviously won't be running the Shootout with Elliott, but they have a crew and car all ready, and Gordon is still eligible. I say he should just do at least this one, and maybe the All Star race if Elliott doesn't qualify for it. Would at least help with ticket sales.

Looks like both Kevin Harvick and Danica Patrick are going to be sponsored by Mobil 1 for some races this year -

and Stewart's Mobil 1 car for comparison -

What do you guys think of these new Mobil 1 cars? I keep seeing people saying they love them, but I find them hideous. I liked Hornish's #77 Mobil 1 scheme the best. I think SHR's best one was Stewart's 2014 scheme.

Gordon did say he might run selected races in the future, but I can't see a Daytona race being one of them. I remember after last year's Coke Zero 400 he said he was relieved he only had one plate race left.

It is too bad since he'd be eligible to race in the Shootout/Unlimited, but I don't think he wants anything else to do with plate racing. Plus if he ran that race they'd need to find someone else to be in the booth.

looks like Brian France really his out of his mind and is trying to run the sport into the ground.

Motorsport.com is reporting that a Chase format will be introduced to both the Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series effective immediately.

Motorsport.com is also reporting that another format will be implemented to the Truck Series - a caution clock that will count down a cause a mandatory competition caution at a certain point in every race.

http://www.motorsport.com/nascar-xs/news/nascar-expected-to-unveil-chase-format-for-truck-and-xfinity-series-668756/

edit: BRIAN FRANCE, IN THE STATE OF THE SPORT ADDRESS JUST CONFIRMED THAT A CHASE FORMAT WILL BE COMING TO BOTH THE XFINITY SERIES AND CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES STARTING THIS SEASON

8thMggj.jpg

EDIT2: ALL DRIVERS THAT WERE ELIGIBLE FOR THE CHASE FOR THE SPRINT CUP IN 2015 ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RACE IN THE XFINITY SERIES AND TRUCK SERIES EVENTS AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI.

EDIT3: COMPETITION CAUTION CLOCK WAS JUST CONFIRMED BY STEVE O'DONNELL - THE CLOCK WILL BE SET TO 20 MINUTES FOR TRUCK SERIES ONLY.

0jYzExQ.jpg

CHANGES ARE ALSO COMING TO THE XFINITY SERIES DASH 4 CASH PROGRAM - HEAT RACES

pZB6JJv.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(from before all this was confirmed)

if they do that, then full-time cup drivers - namely Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Matt Kenseth - need to be banned from running in those series because seeing how much of an idiot Brian France is they will make it exactly how the Cup Series format is with the win and you are in stuff, and with the Cup drivers always winning the majority of the races they it will affect a lot of stuff.

as for that caution clock, that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

there is seriously no need for the chase in the Trucks and Xfinity Series though. Last year Chris Buescher won the Xfinity title by 15 points over Chase Elliott and 17 points over Ty Dillon. In Trucks, Erik Jones won the title by 55 points over Tyler Reddick. Both were good battles down the last lap for the championship and and no way should mean that a chase is required for those series.

LOL we all knew it was coming, but it took a confirmation for me to realize just how f*cking stupid this is. The winner take all thing is terrible for one. I could just imagine someone like Kevin Harvick dominating the season winning 10+ races, and is dominating at Homestead, only to get wrecked by f*cking Timmy Hill while leading with 5 to go and there goes his championship down the drain. This format has caused so much controversy in just 2 years, just imagine what it will cause in these two series.

If we needed this format, at least make the rounds 3-3-4, instead of 3-3-3-1 in Cup. In Xfinity and Trucks it could be one round of 3 then a 4 race stretch at the end.

There aren't really even 12 competitive Xfinity teams, so I really don't see the point of a 12 car Chase.

Don't even get me started on the caution clock, that is the most retarded thing I've ever heard of. What is the f*cking point? And why only for Trucks? I honestly thought Brian couldn't get any dumber.

But at least on a positive note, these cars look f*cking amazing: Fk6Zybr.jpg

that is what everyone has been saying about it since they announced it for the Cup series... if NASCAR wants to do it properly in Xfinity and Trucks then (like I said when the rumor came out this morning) then they need to outright ban full time Cup Series drivers (namely the drivers that select to earn points in Cup) from driving in those series. All they are going to do now is cause issues for the Chase contenders in those series. The only issue with doing that is the sponsors being dumb and only wanting Cup drivers to run in those series.

the caution clock is just stupid. Brian France is single handily destroying what his grandfather and father built.

Caution clock.

what.

Seriously. What? Seriously. I didn't know it was possible for a sport format to be socialist, but competitively, NASCAR is quickly turning into socialism. Fast truck? No cautions and you manage to earn a large lead? Too bad, let's just throw a caution so the others are right back on your bumper. Truck got wrecked and isn't competitive anymore? Well, here's a free caution, here's your Get Out of Jail Free card.

I really do not see the point of it. I'm enjoying watching all of the NASCAR subreddit ripping Brian apart.

Looks like David Ragan will take over the BK Racing #23, and Landon Cassil will be in FRM's #38. I'm happy for Landon, he's a great driver and I think FRM is a step up from Hillman. I wonder where this leaves Whitt, possibly back to BK? We'll just have to wait and see.

gonna be a busy few days with the Charlotte Motor Speedway media tour happening.

EDIT: And just when it did not look like NASCAR could not get any stupider after the announcements yesterday, another stupid decision has come to light - with the new heat races for the Xfinity Dash for the Cash program if a driver crashes in the heat races and the the damage is bad enough that they need a backup car, they can't race in the main event (the actual race) - https://twitter.com/Knighter01/status/689863652925644800

They can pull a backup car out if they crash in practice but if they crash in the heat races and need a backup car they are not allowed to do it and will have to sit out of the actual race.

I can already see it, everyone crashes in the heats which results in the main race only having like 2 competitive cars and a few start & park cars that are able to race. Man Brian France is such a genius.

I always love the way the RPM 44 cars look. I'm glad they brought it back this year.

Well, damn. That's definitely not how I'd want to find out I'm out of a job (not that I'd like to find that it anyway)...

There have been a few decent drivers in the last few years who lost their ride for any number of reasons beside their driving, and never ended up getting a good ride again. Real shame.

theGTAking101

That really is a cold move by TBR. I hate it because I really like Regan Smith and want to root for him, but it's hard when he's driving for a team that lost a lot of my respect.

At least Jr. gave Bowman a ride, I think he'll treat him great.
