Stewart-Haas Racing has announced their crew chief lineup.

#4 Car - Rodney Childers remains crew chief

#10 car - Billy Scott takes over as crew chief (comes to Stewart-Haas from the now closed #15 MWR team); Daniel Knost who was crew chief of the #10 has been promoted to a senior leadership position at Stewart-Haas

#14 car - Mike Bugarewicz moves from the race engineer role on the #4 car to be crew chief on the #14; Chad Johnston who was crew chief on the #14 has moved to the Target Chip Ganass Racing with Felix Sabates #42 car.

#41 car - Tony Gibson remains crew chief

Like I said before, I was hoping that Greg Zipadelli would be the crew chief for Stewart's final season. It sort of makes sense though, I bet they plan on having the new crew chief stay there when Clint Bowyer takes over the #14 car in 2017.

Looks like Joe Gibbs is switching some crew chiefs around as well.

I hear a lot of people on Reddit and Facebook complaining about the Axalta car, calling it "boring" cause there's no flames. I really like it, it's exactly like his old Ritz car he drove in the Busch Series a while back. I'd say my only complaint would be the silver numbers. I think white would've been much better.

Well Jr. gets Most Popular Driver yet again, big shocker there :O . Happy for him though.

yeah, not much of a surprise there... I must say the whole thing with Jeff Gordon was pretty cool.

a lot of current and former NASCAR drivers (Chase Elliott, Christopher Bell, Johanna Long, Dalton Sargent, Kaz Grala, Daniel Hemric, John Hunter Nemechek, Corey Lajoie, Casey Roderick, William Bryon, Chad Finley and Harrison Burton - son of Jeff Burton - all qualified for it race, and Mason Mingus, Roger Reuse, Grant Enfinger, Chris Fontaine, Rico Abreu, JJ Haley, and Ross Kenseth were entered, but did not make the race) took part in the 48th Annual Snowball Derby today. Bell who was driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports finished first to only be disqualified because of an issue with a weight in the left side of the car. As a result Chase Elliott was given the win.

Sounds like an interesting race.

I'm just waiting for the "After the Lap" part of the awards banquet to be posted, cause it's usually hilarious.

It is a really good race. I usually listen to the radio broadcast of it, but Speed51.com, the people who did the radio stuff switched to Pay Per View livestream broafcasts, and stopped doing the radio stuff as a result.

I watched After the Lap when it aired and it was pretty funny - when Clint Bowyer is around you know it is going to be rather funny. They actually have it up on NASCAR.com -

After the Lap - http://www.nascar.com/lap

They also have the video of the drivers driving their cars down the Vegas strip, but for some reason it redirects you to the superstore.

two of the videos do work though - http://www.nascar.com/en_us/news-media/franchises/champions-week-presented-by-coca-cola.sprint-cup-series-victory-lap-gordon-bumps-harvick.4645012636001.html

Sources are telling Motorsport.com that Brian Scott will drive the #9 car for Richard Petty Motorsports next season. According to their source, the official announcement is expected by the end of the week. Dustin Long of NBC Sports tweeted a little bit ago saying Richard Childress Racing has confirmed that Scott will not be back with them next season. Kelly Crandall of Popular Speed also tweeted a little bit ago saying that RPM has scheduled a driver announcement for Friday.

Thanks for the links, I always enjoy After the Lap.

I was worried that they might bring Brian Scott to RPM. Not quite sure as to why an RCR driver would go there of all places, but I guess there are no open Cup rides with ECR engines. Who knows, maybe since he has his family sponsorship with him, the team can actually do decent now, but I won't hold my breath.

Poor Darian Grubb is changing teams again, I wish he could stay with the same team for more than a few years.

Edited by theGTAking101

Scott going there is because of his families money. Richard Petty himself said that the driver for the #9 next year would have to bring sponsorship with him as a package deal. Scott's family owns Shore Lodge, and Whitetail, and also has connections with Albertsons, so he has plenty of sponsorship to go with him.

as far as Grubb goes, that is a rough deal. I don't know where he could go for next season or beyond if JGR does not keep him in some other role. I mean he has already been with all the top teams - Hendrick, Stewart-Haas, and JGR... anything else would really be a step down.

It was announced earlier that 2015 Xfinity Series Champion Chris Buescher is going to drive the #34 at Front Row Motorsports full time next season. Roush-Fenway and Front Row have entered into an alliance as a result, and Buescher is still under contract with RFR.

I'd say the RFR alliance will help FRM, but they will still be mid pack at best. But who knows, maybe Roush's equipment can improve next year. It's crazy how bad they've been especially this year, Trevor Bayne only came 2 spots ahead of Cole Whitt in points. That says something.

Another point, it's almost official that FRM is downsizing to a 2 car team so I wonder what will happen with Moffit/Whitt/Gilliland. I can see Whitt staying in the 2nd car, while Gilliland is let go since his contract is up anyway, along with Moffit.

Edited by theGTAking101

I can't see Front Row Motorsports letting go of David Gilliland. They need some type of veteran experience, and even in the equipment they have, Gilliland tends to run pretty good in it, especially at the plate tracks and the road courses.

also, it is now official, Richard Petty Motorsports has named Brian Scott the driver of the #9 Ford. It also looks like Twisted Tea is returning as one of the sponsors on the #9 car based on the car that they had with them at the announcement (I'd post the picture of it, but photobucket is not wanting to work). Full sponsorship on the #9 is apparently going to be announced at some other point (would not be surprised if it includes the already talked about the family owned Shore Lodge, Whitetail and/or Albertson's).

seems like now most of the teams have their driver lineups set, other than Front Row Motorsports, CircleSport-Hillman Motorsports (the #33), and Premium Motorsports (#62 and #98).

Well now it's pretty much confirmed that Gilly is out. Poor guy never really had a chance since he was always stuck in slower cars. He joined Yates during its dying years, then 2009 he was all over the place, then the last while he was at FRM. He'll either find a low tier ride in Xfinity or Trucks, or he'll stop racing full time and focus on his son's career.

I wish RCR never shared the 33 with Circle Sport, but once Ty comes to Cup, Childress might get it back. Either that or Newman gets the boot.

Premium Motorsports is just a complete clusterf*ck. They're constantly changing the drivers and manufacturers around, the cars are f*cking hideous and almost every week, one of the cars misses the race. I wish Phil Parsons still had his team open, I liked what he had with Josh Wise and the whole Doge Coin deal.

well that stinks for Gilliland.....

Newman probably will end up getting the boot when they finally decide to bring Ty up to the Cup Series now that Quicken Loans has left them for Kasey Kahne and Hendrick Motorsports....

Premium Motorsports is a complete joke. I have never seen one team get in the lead lap drivers ways as much as the #62 and the #66/#98 did last year. I listen to Kahne on raceview and it seemed like every week he and his spotter were getting mad at them for getting in the way.

just remembered another team that does not have their driver lineup set and one where Gilliland could possibly end up - BK Racing. I don't think they have really committed to a driver for any of their three cars yet. It would not surprise me to see Yeley back in either the #23 or #26 and it would also not surprise me if Matt Dibennedetto drives the #83 again next year after the way he ran during this past season.

Allmendinger now has a new crew chief and his team, JTG-Daugherty Racing has a new competition director. Randall Burnett was named crew chief (was at Ganassi before this) and Ernie Cope has been named the competition director.

theGTAking101

BK Racing is interesting, I can see Matt staying in the 83, cause he was impressive last year. The thing about Yeley, is that he keeps running for Xfinity points, so he doesn't even really need to be in Cup. I can see him staying in the 23/26 anyway. Burton never showed any talent, but I can't see him going anywhere either.

I'm hoping with Furniture Row's switch to Toyota, that RCR's other satellite teams (JTG & Germain) can benefit more from the alliance now.

Chris Heroy has been named the crew chief for the #9 car and new driver Brian Scott - http://www.foxsports.com/nascar/story/richard-petty-motorsports-2016-brian-scott-chris-heroy-crew-chief-no-9-ford-silly-season-121615

Also it looks like HScott Motorsports is switching car numbers. Found this on Jayski.com -

also here is Brian Scott's Twisted Tea car -

and Alex Bowman's #7 Toy State car -

theGTAking101

I don't know why, but I really like Bowyer's car, I never liked the way the font made the number 51 look, but the 15 looks much better.

I'm happy for TBR, getting somewhat stable sponsorship again and with the stronger RCR alliance, they could improve slightly.

theGTAking101

McMurray's new and improved (IMO) Cessna paint scheme. You don't see many purple cars on the track, and I think the white goes wonderfully with it.

I'm also in love with Casey Mears' new Geico Military scheme.

Well Chase's 3M scheme has now (officially) been released. It could be better, but whatever. I think it would be perfect with yellow numbers, the red just looks awful.

that #24 car reminds me of some of Biffle's old 3M cars. They actually put some work into McMurray's Cessna car. after two years of just black background, with white font and side skirts.

I hoping they release Kasey Kahne's new Quicken Loans car soon. A lot like Junior with his cars, Kahne likes to design his cars so it should be good.

here is Clint Bowyer's 2016 #15 5 Hour Energy Chevrolet SS and his car from last year for comparison-

I also thought of the Biff when I first saw the 3M car.

Also it looks like the 35 team is gone. On FRM's site it just has the 34 and 38 with no driver announced for the 38. I can see Whitt maybe getting transferred to the 38 and taking Speed Stick with him. Maybe the 38 will even get the 35's owner points.

I'm happy for Grubb, hopefully he can stay in that job for a while.

Is anyone else watching the Rolex 24? I'm excited to see Jamie McMurray and Kyle Larson race in it as they're 2 of my favorite drivers. I hope they can get Chip another win.

I probably won't be able to see the first part of it or the parts of it that they put on Fox Sports 2 but I will watch it as much as I can. The #02 Chip Ganassi Racing team should be pretty good with all 4 driver back again this year - IndyCar Champion Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, McMurray and Larson. Ganassi could easily take the overall win with the Daytona Prototype teams and the win the GT with either of their new teams their new teams.

They brought back Ryan Briscoe to the team for the third time and he is going to move to IMSA full time from INDYCAR and drive the #67 car with Richard Westbrook. Joey Hand moves from the #01 Daytona Prototype to the #66 GT with Dirk Muller.

It's really stupid that we can't get FS1 & FS2 here in Canada. I'll probably have to end up watching a stream online. It's too bad my TV provider doesn't have Fox Sports Racing, cause that would make life so much easier. Canadian NASCAR coverage sucks.

I have Comcast for the tv provider and they don't carry FS2 so every time they move NASCAR, IMSA, and the Monster Energy Supercross to it, I and everyone else with Comcast can't see it.

You might be able to stream the entire thing on IMSA.com. In the United States the only time we are able to see the livestream is overnight when FS1 and FS2 are not broadcasting it. but I think they livestream the full race just about everywhere else.

and speaking of TV, IMSA who runs the WeatherTech United Sports Car Championship, has taken over the Fox Sports TV production of the races. Bob Varsha and Justin Bell have been dropped from the coverage, along with all of the pit reporters except for Brian Till (who also does play-by-play for the Rolex 24, and some NASCAR stuff on both FOX/FS1 and NBCSN) for everything but the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Greg Creamer joins the broadcasts as the play-by-play commentator and Calvin Fish will be back in the booth.

They have moved all productions to the NASCAR Productions studios in Charlotte (NASCAR is part owner of the WeatherTech United Sports Car Championship so that could explain that) and it sounds like Creamer and Fish are going to call the races from the studios instead of from the tracks like NBC/NBCSN do with the F1 races.

They have also let go of the Fox Sports Sports Car telecast production manager.

They also brought up the fact that the endurance races ratings have not been all that great with how Fox Sports has been handling it, by starting them on one channel, then swapping to a second channel, and in the case of the Rolex 24 swapping it to a third channel and then back again.

Premium Motorsports (#62, #66 and #98) just announced that they have hired Mike Hillman to lead the team, and included in the deal are the crew chief of the #40 Mark Hillman and most of the #40 team staff.

They have also said that the driver and sponsorship announcements will be happening in the coming days.

https://twitter.com/PremiumMSNASCAR

I wonder where this puts Landon Cassill and Joe Falk's team CircleSport which had a strong alliance with Hillman's team.

Elliott Sadler's new car for JR Motorsports is going to be unveiled tomorrow.

theGTAking101

I miss Phil Parsons Racing. The equipment wasn't much better than Premium Motorsports but at least they weren't switching drivers around every week. Hopefully maybe now they can get drivers that won't leave halfway through the year like Gaughan.

I'm not sure what's gonna happen with Circle Sport, since the #40's status is unknown, and we don't know what will happen with the #33. I wonder if RCR will get the 33 full time again for Ty, or if he'll wait a year and give Newman the boot.

at least when it was Phil Parsons Racing and Josh Wise driving they were not running 30mph off the pace and getting in the leaders way....

Joe Gibbs Racing has announced the driver and crew chief lineups for the Xfinity Series

#18 - Drivers: Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and others not named; Crew Chief: Chris Gayle - returns to the team for a fourth season

#19 - Driver: Daniel Suarez; Crew Chief: Scott Graves - Joins JGR from Roush-Fenway where he won the 2015 Championship with Chris Buescher

#20 - Driver: Erik Jones; Crew Chief: Chris Gabehart moves from the Cup Series where he was an engineer on the #11 car to the Xfinity Series.

http://www.motorsport.com/nascar-xs/news/joe-gibbs-racing-reveals-2016-xfinity-crew-chief-lineup-666626/

as far as the other drivers go on the #18 it would not surprise me if Matt Kenseth were to drive some races, and it would not surprise me if they put Kenny Habul in that car for the three road course races like they have done the last couple of year. Also a couple of other things with that announcement - Suarez changes car numbers - drove the #18 last year - and Kyle Busch is also switching numbers from #54 to #18, likely meaning that with Monster Energy going to the Cup Series with Kurt Busch that the #54 probably no longer exists.

also Kyle Busch's 2016 M&M's Camry was unveiled last night. The old M&M's characters are on the car in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of M&M's -

I'm so glad that Busch's Crispy scheme is gone. This looks like his 2013 scheme and kinda reminds me of his 2008 scheme as well. Those were my 2 favorite schemes of his, so it was a pleasant surprise to see this yesterday. Now I just with they'd get rid of that hideous Interstate scheme:

15-MIS2-18.jpg

And bring back the awesome scheme from prior to 2014:

Also for some random off-season discussion: Who are everyone's favorite drivers? I root for Jr., Larson & Stewart mainly.

Edited by theGTAking101

I pull for Kasey Kahne, Jamie McMurray, Junior, and Tony Stewart in the Cup Series, and Matt Crafton in the Truck Series.

as far as the Interstate Batteries scheme goes, I wish they would have kept the scheme that they ran before that "zebra" designed one -
