I sort of got the gist of it after they showed it a few times, thanks for taking the time to answer me. That was a good finish by Larson.

Larson's been on a roll lately. If the Toyotas weren't so much better than every other car, I'd expect him to make the final 4 with the way he's running.

The chase fields for the Xfinity Series and Truck Series have officially been set

The Verizon IndyCar Series season finale from Sonoma Raceway airs live at 6pm ET on NBCSN and the champion will be one of two Team Penske drivers - 2014 IndyCar Champion Will Power or current points leader Simon Pagenaud who got the very important bonus point for winning the Verizon P1 Award (the pole award) for todays race.

the cars of Jimmie Johnson and Martin Truex, Jr. failed at the laser inspection station in post race inspection. NASCAR says it won't affect Truex in being locked into the next round of the chase with his win.

Simon Pagenaud has won the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma and is the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series Champion. Team Penske goes 1-2-3 in the points with Pagenaud, Will Power (2nd), and Helio Castroneves (3rd)

Today's Xfinity Series race at Dover has been delayed by rain to tomorrow at 10am ET before the Cup race. As a result there is some driver changes -

#18 JGR - Kyle Busch was supposed to drive the #18 in the Xfinity Series race, but will be replaced by Drew Herring

#22 Team Penske - Joey Logano was supposed to be the driver, Ryan Blaney will pull double duty instead

#2 RCR - Austin Dillon was supposed to be the driver but like Busch, and Logano has pulled out and it sounds like Regan Smith will pull double duty tomorrow and drive the #2 in the Xfinity Series race and the #7 in the Cup race.

Matt Dibenedetto (#10 Xfinity, #83 Cup), Timmy Hill (#40 Xfinity, #98 Cup and Josh Wise (#15 Xfinity, #30 Cup) are scheduled to run both races and there is no word on if they will run both.

The Xfinity Series race will air on CNBC, and the Cup race will air on NBCSN as scheduled.

I always see people complaining about Cup drivers racing in the Xfinity Series, and I hate it as much as them, but they're not the whole problem. It's the "All-Star Cars" in general (like the #2, #18, #22, #42, #88). I don't care if it's Kyle Busch or some young driver or even Bobby Labonte in the 18, they're not racing for the championship so it bothers me when they win.

The guys who are racing for the win should be the same guys racing for the championship.

well that full day of racing is done.

Daniel Suarez

won the Xfinity Series race after putting Justin Marks into the wall extremely hard.

and

Martin Truex, Jr.

won the Cup Series race, and

Jamie McMurray, Kyle Larson, Tony Stewart and Chris Buescher

are eliminated from the chase.

moving on to the round of 12 is -

Martin Truex, Jr.

Kevin Harvick

Jimmie Johnson

Carl Edwards

Kyle Busch

Denny Hamlin

Matt Kenseth

Brad Keselowski

Joey Logano

Chase Elliott

Kurt Busch

Austin Dillon

The awards banquet for the IndyCar Series was tonight, and former NASCAR driver Bryan Clauson was named the most popular driver.

Hurricane Mathew is likely going to impact this weekend's Cup Series race at Charlotte. It's expected to hit the Carolina's Saturday, the same day as the Cup race.

theGTAking101

Well Ryan Newman is unexpectedly back in the 31 next year, so much for Ty Dillon being rushed into the Cup Series. I'm guessing Ty will either stay in Xfinity, or go full time in the 95 and have McDowell in the Xfinity car. I really did not see this coming but I'm happy about it.

Also I like this paint scheme much more than his 2015/16 one.

Dillon could possibly land in the #27 car (probably would be renumbered to #33) if the rumors about Menard are true - Menard's started sponsoring Team Penske on the IndyCar side, namely with the 2016 IndyCar Champion #22 Simon Pagenaud, and there was talk of Menard possibly moving to Team Penske for 2017.

Along with Newman's car a few other 2017 paintschemes have been released, including a tease of Dale Earnhardt, Jr.'s 2017 Nationwide Insurance Chevrolet -

Michael Annett is going back to the Xfinity Series. JR Motorsports just announced that Annett will drive a 4th full time car for them in 2017. His teammates at JRM will be #1 Elliott Sadler, #7 Justin Allgaier, and William Bryon.

Edit: Annett will drive the #5 car and by no surprise Pilot/Flying J will be the sponsor.

Edit: JRM will field a 5th part time car, the #88 for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Kasey Kahne.

That leaves HScott Motorsports with no drivers for next year with Bowyer moving to the #14 car and Annett going back to the Xfinity Series

That was quite the end of the season for all three series. History was made in both the Cup and Xfinity Series with Daniel Suarez becoming the first Latin American driver to win a championship in one of NASCAR's national series, and Jimmie Johnson tying "The King" Richard Petty and "The Intimidator" Dale Earnhardt with his record tying 7th title. Johnny Sauter finally gets the Sauter family a NASCAR Championship as well. Toyota ended Chevrolet's streak of winning the Cup Series manufacture championship. Chase Elliott wins the rookie of the year in Cup.

As the off-season begins silly season goes full speed

- Tommy Baldwin Racing will not field a full time entry next season. They have sold their charter and owners points to CircleSport Leavine Family Racing.

- It was announced today that Greg Biffle and Roush-Fenway Racing have parted ways and based on Biffle's statement it sounds like he might be joining Tony Stewart and Brian Scott in retiring.

- Jayski is now reporting that Chris Buescher will be the driver of the second JTG-Daugherty Racing car in 2017 leaving an open seat at Front Row Motorsports.

- Tyler Reddick has signed on with Chip Ganassi Racing and will drive the #42 car part time in 2017 along with Kyle Larson and Justin Marks.

- Chip Ganassi Racing has extended their agreement with Hendrick Motorsports and will continue using Hendrick Engines.

theGTAking101

Man, it keeps getting worse and worse for Roush. First Biffle, then Bubba was put down to part time due to sponsorship issues, then general manager Robbie Reiser leaves, then Zest leaves as Stenhouse's sponsor.

also some more silly season changes -

JTG Daugherty Racing has announced that Chris Buescher will drive the #37 car for them and is being leased to them by Roush-Fenway. They are also leasing the #16 team's charter from Roush-Fenway

CircleSport and Leavine Family Racing has split and CircleSport will take the charter with them, Leavine Family Racing in turn bought Tommy Baldwin Racing's charter.

Richard Petty Motorsports is dropping to one car (the #43) and have sold the equipment and leased the charter from the #44 car to Go Fas Racing.

Go Fas Racing has leased their charter to Wood Brothers Racing, locking the #21 car into every race next season.

Matt Dibenedetto will drive the #32 for Go Fas Racing full time in 2017 replacing Bobby Labonte, Jeffrey Earnhardt and others.

David Ragan will return to Front Row Motorsports in 2017 and will drive the #38 car. Landon Cassill remains with Front Row and will switch to the #34 car.

Ty Dillon has been named as driver of the #13 car for Germain Racing leaving Casey Mears without a ride.

Premium Motorsports has bought the charter from HScott Motorsports #15 team and has sold their other charter (which was leased to the #46 team this past season) to Furniture Row Racing for the #77 car.

It was announced last night that Brennan Poole and sponsor DC Solar will be returning to Chip Ganassi Racing and the #48 car next year in the Xfinity Series

GMS Racing and Spencer Gallagher are going full time in the Xfinity Series next season and will run car #23.

  • 4 weeks later...

Carl Edwards has announced that he is stepping away from full-time racing effective immediately. Health is not an issue, he says he wants to do stuff outside of racing. He also says he might run some races in the future, but has no plans to go full time. 2016 Xfinity Series Champion Daniel Suarez is expected to be named as the new driver of the #19 Arris/Stanley Tools Toyota.
