so 2 rain delay, 3 red flags, 500 laps and 24 hours lter the race is finally over. lol. That was cool to see Harvick and Stewart do that.

with that finish by Buescher, he is in the top 30 in points and as of now in the Chase.

if everything stays the same and Dillon, Buescher, and Elliott make the chase we would now have 32 total drivers to have made the chase in the 12 years it's been around. Jimmie Johnson is the only driver to have made it every year, with Kenseth having made it every year but one.

There is still more racing to come. The IndyCar race got postponed by rain until tomorrow at 12:09 pm edt on NBCSN. Wednesday marks one year since Justin Wilson died.

23 days until NASCAR Heat: Evolution gets released. I can't wait to have a NASCAR game on PS4.

huge crash on pit road in the IndyCar race. #3 Helio Castroneves, #83 Charlie Kimball and #98 Alexander Rossi involved. Rossi and Kimball collided as they were exiting their pit stalls and it launched Rossi into the air and then he landed on top of Castroneves and went right over the top of him.

They got extemely lucky, as Rossi's car just about came down on top of Castroneves' head. Another couple of inches further to the back of Castroneves' car and it could have been a very diferent story.

wow, there is actually a tire mark on the right side of the drivers compartment next to Castroneves' head.

Well, that rain delay worked conveniently in my favor, as I don't have NBCSN, but I have CNBC, so I got to see Gordon race one more time. I was really hoping he could get to lead a lap or two those few laps he was near the front. He definitely had a much better short run car than most of the field, but getting stuck back in traffic negated that advantage. I wish he could've gotten a top 10 in one of these last 4 races, but just getting to see him race again (as well as seeing him race in person) was enough to put a smile on my race these last few weeks.

I take my comment back about Kenseth having the best throwback... Greg Biffle beats him hands down. Hooters/Alan Kulwicki throwback for the Biff. That makes two Kulwicki throwback cars, #7 Regan Smith and #16 Biffle.

Landon Cassill's thowback car has been unveiled He and the #38 team are honoring the late J.D. MacDuffie who was killed in a crash in Watkins Glen.

Kyle Larson's throwback car has also been unveiled. He is running a throwback to the first Chip Ganassi Racing Target car driven by Eddie Cheever in the IndyCar Series in 1990

Kasey Kahne's throwback car will be unveiled tomorrow.

I wish Hendrick would learn to use a drop shadow on the 24 and 48 this year, the numbers look terrible without them. Anyway, Chase's Dover car. I like it:

Can't wait to see what Dale says tomorrow about his status for Michigan. It'll suck to not have him in the car while the special University scheme is run.

BREAKING: It was announced a little while ago that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will miss the next two races (Michigan and Darlington). Alex Bowman will drive the #88 at Michigan, and 4-time Cup Series Champion Jeff Gordon will drive the car at Darlington. This puts the number of races Junior has missed to 7 (New Hampshire, Indianapolis, Pocono, Watkins Glen, Bristol, Michigan and Darlington)

that #5 car is pretty cool. I've always liked simple schemes.

edit: the memorial for Bryan Clauson at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, In. is tonight and a tornado went through nearby...

the tribute for Clauson at Kokomo Speedway was interrupted by the tornado/tornado warning. The tornado itself did not hit the track but it hit a mall 4 miles away (the mall in the picture tweeted by Conor Daly. The people at the track took cover and they also had to take cover at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Too bad Dale won't be able to run his throwback scheme. So now he only has one chance to make the chase. At least he's good at Richmond. But realistically, I can't see him winning his first race back. For all we know he could end up missing more races.

Well Furniture Row is doing pretty good with picking up sponsors this year... Bass Pro Shops, Auto-Owners Insurance, 5-Hour Energy, and now Tanger Outlets who will sponsor Truex at Richmond. http://furniturerowracing.furniturerow.com/frr/news/07252016/Tanger-Outlets-to-Make-NASCAR-Debut-with-Sponsorship-on-Truex-Jr.%E2%80%99s-Toyota-at-Richmond/11201556

Kyle Larson's Marty Robbins throwback Eneos car for the Xfinity Series race at Darlington -

So it was a first time winner kind of day for NASCAR....

Brett Moffitt

won the Truck Series race at Michigan

Michael McDowell

won the Xfinity Series race at Road America.

The Verizon IndyCar Series Firestone 600 at Texas will resume in a little bit on NBCSN after a rain delay of nearly 2 months.

The lineup when they go green

1. (1st) #5 James Hinchcliffe

2. (17th -1 lap) #14 Takuma Sato

3. (2nd) #28 Ryan Hunter-Reay

4. (3rd) #7 Mikhail Aleshin

5. (4th) #12 Will Power - 2nd in points

6. (5th) #20 Ed Carpenter

7. (6th) #19 Gabby Chaves

8. (7th) #3 Helio Castroneves

9. (18th -1 Lap) #27 Marco Andretti

10. (8th) #83 Charlie Kimball

11. (9th) #26 Carlos Munoz

12. (10th) #2 Juan Pablo Montoya

13.(11th) #11 Sebastian Bourdais

14. (12th) #15 Graham Rahal

15. (13th) #98 Alexander Rossi

16. (19th -1 Lap) #8 Max Chilton

17. (14th) #9 Scott Dixon

18. (15th) #22 Simon Pagenaud - Points leader

19. (16th) #10 Tony Kanaan

20. (20th -2 Laps) #41 Jack Hawksworth

#21 Josef Newgarden and #18 Conor Daly will not be restarting as they were involved in a crash during the first part of the race back in June.

gah.... Rahal wins it. I was hoping Hinchcliffe or Pagenaud would win... Rahal over Hinch by 0.008 of a second. Hinch led the most laps, Rahal led one lap.... Tony Kanaan was third, Pagenaud ended up 4th. Thankfully Pagenaud got through the last oval of the season with no problems and is now on to his best type of tracks - Road Courses. Just Watkins Glen and Sonoma left.

well first time winners have swept the weekend...

Truck Series - Brett Moffitt

Xfinity Series - Michael McDowell

Sprint Cup Series - Kyle Larson

edit: Larson becomes the 27th driver to have won races in the top three national NASCAR series (Trucks, Xfinity and Cup)

13 different winners this year as well.. Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex, Jr., Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Chris Buescher and Kyle Larson. If Buescher is able to stay in the top 30 in points the battle for the last three chase spots in the next two races should be rather epic.

not sure what or who but Kahne's spotter Kevin Hamlin came on the radio as Larson started doing his burnouts and said someone was sitting spun out in one of the turns and something about possibly having to do with another driver.

DMR has released DLC info for NASCAR Heat: Evolution

DLC's wil include paintscheme packs including the Darlington throwback paintschemes, chase for the sprint cup paint schemes (yellow windshield banner, yellow splitter, ect...), challenges, and spotter packs that include NASCAR commentators, drivers and real spotters (I so hope they have Kevin Hamlin - Kahne's spotter - as one of them. The first spotter DLC will be NASCAR on NBC play-by-play commentator Rick Allen.

http://www.hendrickmotorsports.com/news/articles/70378/dale-earnhardt-jr-to-miss-remainder-of-2016-season

that finish in the truck series race.... there are no words..

Custer looks livid..if Custer is the winner he locks himself into the chase...

holy crap... Custer just took John Hunter Nemechek down to the ground.. He ran all the way from pit road to where Nemechek was standing on the front stretch and took him to the ground....

John Hunter Nemechek has been declared the winner...

The IndyCar Series also had a race today and the championship battle is now down to two drivers. Scott Dixon won the race but is now mathematically elimited. Simon Pagenaud will go to Sonoma in two weeks with decent lead over Will Power who crashed. Double points are up for grabs at Sonoma, the winner gets 100 points plus bonus points.

Stewart has been called to the NASCAR Hauler after the race along with his crew chief for that incident with Brian Scott. Stewart's response after being told: "Hey man, made it 25 races, I'd say that's pretty good."

Edited by kk9fan97

no penalties for the truck series race stuff...

no penalties for the Tony Stewart-Brian Scott on-track incident

Ryan Blaney penalized $1,000 for not wearing his gloves during a run during practice...

Ryan Newman fined 15 drivers points, Richard Childress fined 15 owners points, crew chief Luke Lambert fined $25,000 for failing at the laser inspection station in post race inspection

Kyle Larson fined 15 drivers points, Chip Ganassi/Felix Sabates/Rob Kauffmann fined 15 owners points, crew chief Chad Johnston fined $22,500 for failing at the laser inspection station...

I'm going to put together a thread for NASCAR Heat: Evolution in the gaming section in a little bit.

Ex Hellraiser

I can understand why no penalties were given for the trucks. They missed their chance to give JH a black flag. It would be a whole new precedent if they decided the Tuesday after to strip him of a win. They understand that the problem will probably sort itself out in the coming weeks *wink wink*

What a coincidence that Larson got his penalty the week after he won, so it is essentially meaningless, while Newman couldn't have gotten that penalty at a worse time lol. I don't necessarily care one way or the other if he makes it in or not.

But, I hope that Buescher and Elliot both make it. I know Buescher won't make it far, but what an amazing feeling that would be, to make it into the Chase. I hope he does well at Richmond.

Edit: If I'm not mistaken, that would be the first time two rookies made any Chase in the same year, and if Elliot and Buescher both finish well, and Ryan Blaney wins at Richmond, we could have 3 rookies.

Neato.

If Custer does anything to Nemechek during the chase he could very well end up being suspended 2 races, NASCAR set that precedent last year with Matt Kenseth...

and it would be the first time that multiple rookies make it if Buescher and Elliott are able to hold on. Only once before has a rookie made the chase - Denny Hamlin in 2006 (Carl Edwards made it in his first full season in 2005 but had run 14 races in 2004 making him not eligible for rookie of the year). Clint Bowyer and Martin Truex, Jr. both made the chase in their 2nd season (2007 for both of them)

That ends Newman's Chase hopes...

And that's what at least the 3rd time Newman has ended up with a car on top of his? First Edwards at Talladega in 2009, then Kurt Busch at Talladega in 2013 and now Lupton tonight at Richmond...

It was just pointed out on NBCSN by Rick Allen that that crash having taken out David Ragan essentially locks Buescher into the chase.. Also that's the 4th crash that Allmendinger has been involved in tonight...

Edit: Chase Elliott and Austin Dillon are also pretty much locked in. McMurray is really the only one in the danger zone if Kahne or anyone else between 17th and 30th wins other than Buescher...

Wow Newman super mad at Stewart.

Watching the race live from the land down under, can anyone here explain what the chase bubble is? What do the + and - points mean? Probably a stupid question but I don't get to see anywhere near as much NASCAR as I'd like and I'm curious.

+ means how many points ahead you are of the first guy out of the Chase (playoffs), and - means how many points behind the last guy in the Chase you are.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but let's go Kasey.

Edited by theGTAking101

F*ck Hamlin, but what a finish. If there was one more lap or if Denny didn't jump the start, Larson definitely would've had it. It's crazy how fast you are with new tires.
