Wait for it, Bubba will get a penalty for daring to speak out, then NASCAR will change their last lap policy for the next superspeedway race...

I don't understand why medical crews can't simply be dispatched to cars after traffic passes. They will only be assisting disabled vehicles, and their presence won't affect race outcome in any way, because the incoming cars will have already finished and had about a mile after the finish line to slow down... Instead, the they had a mile and 200 feet to slow down... Big f*cking difference there NASCAR. Good job officiating there.

On top of that, but in every single camera angle, it was clear that Aric was leading when the green light went out, but not when the caution light came on. He was about 3 inches behind Justin when the yellow lights came on. If the rule is caution is thrown when the green light disappears, then fine, but they kept parroting that it is when the yellow lights come on, yet Justin was clearly ahead when that happened.

They seem to have a thing with screwing JR Motorsports cars over at the plate tracks... Kasey Kahne got screwed at Talladega in 2013 when they threw the caution for a crash in the middle of the tri-oval with the leaders going three wide to the line. Kahne beat the both Regan Smith and whoever was in the #22 to the line but the win got handed to Regan Smith (yes I know he drives for JRM - part time in the #88 now - but still)

Then tonight they screwed Justin Allgaier over.....

If the entire field was past the wreck site then there is no reason why they could not have left it green and let the drivers race back but also allow only the safety workers positioned on the backstretch out on to the track to get to the cars.... they could even alter the caution flag rule and if they are in overtime and they get past the overtime line on the track make it so if the caution comes out the field is not frozen and allow them to race back. If they are not in overtime but there is two laps to or are in overtime but have not made it to the overtime line and the caution comes out then throw the caution immediately and freeze the field.

Even though it did benefit one of their cars at Talladega. But I agree, throwing the yellow 200 feet from the finish line does absolutely nothing but screw up the finish. It does not help the safety in any way. It's useless. Most of the drivers probably won't even know about the caution until they're past the finish line anyway, so what's the point?

If the track is clear from the start/finish line to the backstretch, then there's no reason to not let them race back.

As already known Rick Allen is part of NASCAR Heat: Evolution, but it now looks like NBC Sports/NBCSN is going to be part of it as well. They posted this video on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/dmrnascarheat/videos/573481362825506/

Ryan Newman had quite the pointed comment towards NASCAR during the drivers meeting it regards to how last night's race ended; Tony Stewart questioned the blocking and Kevin Harvick asked about penalties for forcing someone below the double yellow line like Joey Logano did to Chase Elliott last night - http://nascar.nbcsports.com/2016/07/02/ryan-newman-makes-pointed-comment-in-drivers-meeting-to-nascar-about-end-of-xfinity-race/

edit: already glad NBC is back. "if something happens or they wreck we'll break through the commercial break so you can see it." love it. the broadcasters should have never stopped doing that in the first place.

Are you still glad NBC is here? That coverage was a f*cking joke. They went overboard with the commercials, didn't show interviews of any other drivers (at least not for me, I hear they had more of the post race on NBCSN), and they didn't even show a replay of the Kurt spin.

I actually like Fox, sure there were problems but I enjoy their commentary.

Honestly, I can't see any reasons for someone to be a Logano fan. He's constantly angering drivers and fans, and he's always involved in some incident week in and week out. If this was the old Kurt, I could see a huge fight, but this new Kurt ever since he joined SHR seems to be calmer.

I don't particularly like any NASCAR broadcasts anymore. FOX and NBC from 2001-2006 was great, it's gone down since then. DW is getting more annoying to listen to every week he is with Gordon, and while Gordon is the most knowledgeable on cars today, he isn't the best at color commentary yet.

NBC however, took on Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte, neither is which have done any previous commentary.

But at least they are better than ESPN.

it wa the same way in this race a year ago as far as the commercials went. Difference was last year they were getting cautions every 15 laps so they were able to get the commercials in then. Someone on twitter pointed out that even after the big one the race was going by so fast that (up until the caution before Stewart's wreck) the race was going to end with over 30 minutes left in their boadcast window (7:40pm eastern to 11pm eastern) so in order to get their commercial breaks in they needed to pack them in tight for the most part. The race was going so fast that it only took them a little over an hour to get to halfway and that pretty much never happens at the plate tracks.

I am not trying to defend them because honestly, like everyone else I got sick of all the commercials towards the end and was questioning it myself when they did the 4 commercial breaks between 25 laps to go and 13 laps to go.

as for Kurt, I think his fiancee Ashley has calmed him down along with his crew chief... although his crew chief tweeted "Stupid is as stupid does!!! #22" after the race and the contact with Logano and Busch at the end - https://twitter.com/TonyOldman41/status/749445055765704705

I am amazed that here was no big wreck at the end especially with how much Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Logano, and Keselowski were swerving back at forth for the last lap and a quarter. I was so expecting to see one of them misjudge a block or pass attempt and turn someone around and wreck the whole pack.

edit: I much preferred ESPN over both Fox and TNT. They had the best broadcast team by far in 2014. You can't get much better than Allen Bestwick. When it was announced that NBC was coming back and both ESPN and TNT were leaving I ws hoping that Allen along with most of the ESPN broadcast team (like Dale Jarrett, Dave Burns, Nicole Briscoe, Jamie Little, and Mike Massaro would move to NBC, or in the case of Massaro, Bestwick, and Burns back to NBC. At least we get to listen to Allen Bestwick call the IndyCar races.

there more racing tomorrow with NASCAR connections via Chip Ganassi Racing and HAAS F1 Team - The Weather Tech United Sports Car Championship is at Watkins Glen for the Saleens 6 Hours of the Glen. All 6 hours will air live on FS1 starting at 10am Eastern time - Ganassi will be fielding a couple of Ford GT's in that. The Red Bull Global Rally Cross will be on tomorrow afternoon on NBC - Ganassi is fielding two cars in that. The Austrian Grand Prix is tomorrow at 7am est on NBCSN - HAAS F1 has two cars in it. The season finale for the Formula E series is also tomorrow on FS2.

EDIT: Matt Tiftt's surgery to remove a tumor growing on his brain was successful and he just in the last few minutes tweeted that he has been released from the hospital - https://twitter.com/Matt_Tifft/status/749454547752394754

What did I say? Bubba got a penalty for speaking his mind. $15,000 fine. Just wait, NASCAR will tweak the rules for green-white-checkers by the time Talladega rolls around...

you called it for sure... no logic on NASCAR's part. Kyle Busch calls NASCAR rigged and they do nothing then Bubba calls rae control muppets and gets fined....

a huge storm blew through Kentucky Speedway earlier and the wind caused major damage to the Xfinity Series inspection line. The Laser Inspection Station sustained the most damage when the wind picked up the large concrete blocks being used to hold the tent over the LIS down and threw them into the LIS. They are now going to use the Cup Series LIS along with half of Goodyear's building for the templates, meaning the Xfinity Teams have to bring their cars to the Sprint Cup garage to be inspected.

edit: I never realized how soon everything starts showing up at the tracks. WMUR the local ABC affiliate in NH just showed video from today at NHMS and it showed a Sunoco tanker heading towards the infield tunnel, just under a week before on-track stuff starts at NHMS. I guess they got to get there early seeing as there is 4 or 5 different races next weekend at NHMS - Sprint Cup Series, Xfinity Series, K&N Pro Series East, Whelen Modified Tour, American-Canadian Tour, and if they are doing it again the Whelen Modified North-South All-Star event.

lol Brett Bodine, the pace truck driver just failed. They delayed the green flag after Johnson reported seeing a bolt fall off of the #78 car and the pace truck still went down pit road...

edit: turns 3 and 4 seem to be calamity corners this weekend.... Logano hit the wall twice at the exit of Turn 4 earlier and now totally wrecked in turn 3; Kurt Busch wrecked in Turn 4 yesterday; Keselowski hit the turn 4 wall yesterday; Johnson wrecked his primary car in Turn 4 yesterday, and wrecked his backup car in the same spot tonight; Stenhouse, Jr. hit the wall at the exit of Turn 4 twice tonight and is out of the race; Ty Dillon hit the wall in Turn 4 during Xfinity Series qualifying yesterday; Hamlin hit the wall at the exit of Turn 4 yesterday; Kyle Busch wrecked in Turn 3 in the Truck Series race.

edit: add another one to that list - Matt Dibenedetto just wrecked in the middle of Turns 3 and 4.

edit: add two more to it - Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney wreck in the middle of Turns 3 and 4.

Now there's a fire in the parking lot behind the main grandstands. Kasey Kahne's spotter Kevin Hamlin just reported on the radio that a van is fully engulfed in flames.

edit: Matt Kenseth's PR rep Jess Rohlik just tweeted a picture and it is a pickup truck on fire and now from what NBCSN just showed a car directly next to the pickup truck appears to be on fire as well, and the car on the other side looked liked it was starting to catch on fire.. - https://twitter.com/JessicaLRohlik/status/751943958012502017

now a huge crash that began at the exit of turn 2 and kept going into the entrance of Turn 3 - Allmendinger, Buescher, Scott, Patrick, Ty Dillon, Smith involved

edit: ESPN's Ryan McGee tweeted a screencap of what NBCSN showed of the fire and the pickup truck on fire has a grill in the back of it... the car parked to it's left is on fire, and the red pickup truck to the right is definetely smoking - https://twitter.com/ESPNMcGee/status/751945273966993408

edit: now another one to add to the list of drivers crashing in turns 3 and 4 - Regan Smith just wrecked hard in the middle of turns 3 and 4.

edit: and another one - Bowyer spins in the middle of 3 and 4.

edit: well that's a new one. Truex, Jr. just got penalized for passing on the entry to pit road. has to go to the rear of the field.

BREAKING NEWS: It has been announced that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will not drive in this weekends New Hampshire 301 due to concussion like symptoms. Part time JR Motorsports driver Alex Bowman will drive the #88 in place of Junior. This is the second time that Junior has had to sit out a race for a concussion or concussion like symptoms - He sat out two races in late 2012 after sustaining a concussion in a hard crash at Talladega.

He may end up having to miss more races.

http://www.hendrickmotorsports.com/news/articles/68589/dale-earnhardt-jr-to-miss-new-hampshire-race

no word on if NASCAR is going to give him a waiver, but seeing how they have given waivers for suspensions (Kurt Busch), and Injuries/illness (Kyle Larson, Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin) I don't see why they wouldn't.

- I was just in the middle of typing that I was surprised nobody posted this yet.

There's no reason for them not to give him a waiver. I am worried about his Chase chances though regardless. It is a good opportunity for Alex though, he's proved in the Xfinity Series that he knows how to drive.

Of course his previous concussions were a factor, but I wonder which of his wrecks this year played a part in this. He's had some bad ones at Daytona, Talladega and Michigan. I have a feeling that his health is gonna play a good part in when he decides to retire.

- Cole Whitt will also be taking the weekend off to prepare for Indy.

- On the bright side, this happened:

So a press conference regarding Junior is going on now at NHMS, and well...

Doug Duchart of Hendrick Motorsports just said that if Junior can't drive at Indianapolis next week that the team will put 4-Time Cup Series Champion Jeff Gordon into the #88 car.

When asked if he is serious, he responded "yes".

I never thought I'd get the chance to see Gordon race in person, but now may be my one and only chance.

Indy is the second closest track to me, next to MIS, but even so, my parents have never been too keen on trekking for hours across state lines for an event they have no interest in. I'm going on vacation the Tuesday after Indy, and as such, have the weekend of Indy off work. So, as an adult, I'm going to make an adult (if not poor, monetarily) decision to go to Indiana next weekend, should tickets not sell out in the five minutes after this potential decision is made.

BREAKING NEWS: Hendrick Motorsports has announced that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will not drive the #88 in at least the next two Sprint Cup Series races (Indianapolis & Pocono) and 4-Time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon will drive the #88 in both races.

It's going to be weird having Gordon on the track in a car not numbered 24.

I have no idea what to expect this weekend. I've never been to a race, and I'm choosing probably one of the biggest races for my first one. If I suffocate in a crowd of people, I'll try to live stream it. Got seats in the Paddock (frontstretch close to finish line)

Well we just had the big one at Eldora....

Involved (11 trucks) - #9 William Bryon, #75 Caleb Holman, #8 John Hunter Nemechek, #23 Spencer Gallagher, #19 Daniel Hemric, #13 Ben Kennedy, #16 Stewart Friesen, #21 Johnny Sauter, #13 Cameron Hayley, #17 Timothy Peters, #05 Brady Boswell

Edited by kk9fan97

I was hoping Bobby Pierce and the Mittler Brothers' team would have won it. That team has been in the truck series forever and has been through a lot (namely Tony Roper getting killed in one of their trucks in a crash at Texas in 2000) and really deserves a win.

Pierce has been easily the best driver at Eldora the last two years but has not been able to get the win... Last year because Christopher Bell out drove him at the end and this year in part to NASCAR not black flagging Ben Rhodes when he was leaking fluids and smoking all the way around the track causing them to have to put speedy dry down on the track making it extremely slippery and partly due to going too fast into the turn.

Larson should not have not won that race. Drivers that get penalized a lap should not be able to get their lap back via the lucky dog. I mean what's the point in holding them a lap if you are just going to allow them to get it back with the lucky dog/free pass 15 laps later?

The stuff that went on with Pierce after he crashed was pretty dumb as well. It was well known that his truck was stuck in 4th gear and the track workers and NASCAR Officials just stood their acting dumb and would not push him back from the wall so he could get going. They did the same to Aric Almirola at Dover last year when he lost reverse and stuck against the wall.

I get that it's the protocol but that needs to get changed. I mean in IndyCar even after crashing and getting stuck against a wall or tire barrier the Holmatro Safety Team will push/pull them away from the wall and refire the cars so the driver can drive away. They have the same rule as NASCAR when it comes to having to go to the Infield Medical Center when they can't drive back but when they are stuck against a wall or stalled out they get pushed/pulled away from the wall and/or the car gets refired.

As usual Fox Sports coverage sucked - audio issues half the night, they somehow missed two of the crashes totally, never showed the trucks that were in one of them, another time they never even bothered to say what brought out the caution, and then did not bother to report that Nemechek went to the garage until about 10 minutes later. They also decided to air a pre-recorded show instead of live coverage and started the qualifying races coverage 11 minutes late so they could let the host of that show talk about how many condoms the Olympic athletes were given.... I mean really Fox Sports it's no wonder why every show that was on FS1 on their first day has been cancelled (except for all the NASCAR/Motorsports shows/broadcasts).

Sounds like the Xfinity Series race was quite horrible thanks to the Cup Series drivers... Glad I missed it.

Simpson messed up on Gordon's firesuit and it says he won the championship in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008... Technically the 2006, 2007, and 2008 are correct he was the champion owner those years.

big crash. Red Flag.

Involved - #2 Brad Keselowski, #19 Carl Edwards, #10 Danica Patrick, #31 Ryan Newman, #21 Ryan Blaney, and #17 Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.

Edwards hit the turn 1 wall super hard, both his car and Blaney's car is destroyed.

Jeff Gordon says he has smoke coming out of the front of his #88 car, and Kasey Kahne's team reports the front of their car is covered with grass.

edit: #14 Tony Stewart was also involved

and another big wreck

involved - #1 Jamie McMurray, #14 Tony Stewart, #31 Ryan Newman, #17 Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., #44 Brian Scott, #5 Kasey Kahne

this is now the first time ever that we will get a second attempt at overtime - the leader never got to the overtime line on the backstretch before the caution came out.

edit: #13 Casey Mears was also involved.

edit: the #18 team is trying to get Newman and a few other crashed cars black flagged for dropping debris on the track.
